Education District 1, Agege Celebrates High-Scoring Student At WASSCE

Lagos State Education District I, Agege, led by Dr. Oyetola Olufunke Idowu has celebrated the performance of one of the District's students, Miss Esther Chíoma Joseph of Keke Senior High School, who was recently given the "WASSCE 2024 Best Student” Award and “Certificate of Participation” by the Nigeria Computer Society, Lagos Branch (NCSLagos) for excelling in the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) with 9 A’s.



In recognition of her previous academic excellence, Keke Senior High School sponsored her education from Senior Secondary SSI-SSIII. Miss Chíoma, who is 18 years of age and hails from Anambra State, work as a domestic assistant within the Ifako-Ijaiye Housing Estate. She has on several occasions demonstrated her remarkable diligence, discipline, and determination in the pursuit of her education. Her outstanding performance and inspiring journey stand as a testament to the power of resilience, hard work, and the transformative impact of educational support.


The student, in her quest to excel in education, not limiting her status, has recently secured admission to study Veterinary Medicine at the University of Ibadan.


The TG/PS Education District I, Agege,  Dr. Oyetola Olufunke Idowu, further congratulated the student and also appreciated the school for the laudable support given to encourage her.


The TG/PS stated that the Lagos State Government, through its THEMES Development Agenda, particularly for education, is committed to leaving no student behind, just as she commended the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his passion and continued support towards upgrading the state education system to be at par with international standards.


Ajegunle Youth Development Network Embarks on Manhole Covering Project in Ajegunle Community, Agege

The Ajegunle Youth Development Network (AYDN), a voluntary community-based organization, has embarked on a Manhole Covering Project in the Ajegunle community of Agege, as part of its continuous efforts to improve community safety and development.



This initiative adds to a growing list of impactful projects by the organization, which include the installation of street lights, security enhancement programs, and youth empowerment initiatives aimed at improving the overall well-being of residents.



Speaking during an interview, Comrade Oyedeji Abdulrasak (Prestige), the President of AYDN, emphasized that the organization is non-political, non-religious, and non-ethnic, driven solely by a passion to give back and make a meaningful impact.


“Our goal is to create a platform that enhances the socio-economic development of Ajegunle youths, improves community welfare, and rekindles the spirit of unity that once defined our neighborhood,” he said.


“One thing binds us all — Ajegunle. It’s the community where we grew up, shared memories, and built our early dreams. That shared identity fuels our passion to give back and uplift others,” Comrade Abdulrasak added.



Also speaking, the Vice President, Mr. Tola Dokumu, stressed the importance of collective community responsibility.


Our community remains our pride, and we must all come together to make it a safer and better place,” he noted.


In his remarks, the Secretary, Mr. Oladimeji Samuel, highlighted the need for sustainability and continuous youth involvement in community projects, emphasizing that true development begins with local action.


The Manhole Covering Project took place at Ajigbotinu Street, Off Mathew Street Pero Bus Stop, Agege. with residents commending AYDN for its proactive step toward ensuring safety and environmental improvement in the area.

Aje Senior High School Emerges Champion at 7th Opeifa Cup Grand Finale

The 7th Edition of the Lagos State Secondary Schools Handball Competition, popularly known as the Opeifa Cup, came to an exciting close yesterday Friday October 31, 2025, at the Rowe Park Sports Centre, Yaba, Lagos.




In the Senior Male Category Final, Aje Senior High School, Yaba, triumphed over Whitesand Senior College with a commanding scoreline of 16 – 9, securing the championship title after a thrilling and energetic encounter that kept spectators on their feet.



The competition, organized by Dr. Kayode Opeifa, aims to discover, nurture, and promote young handball talents across Lagos State while fostering teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship among secondary school students.


Dr. Opeifa commended all participating schools, coaches, and officials for their commitment to youth sports development, reiterating his dedication to sustaining the legacy of the Opeifa Cup as a platform for future champions.

(BSEWN).


Organized by Future Matters Concept in partnership with The Success Ambassadors Foundation, this year’s edition is scheduled to hold on Thursday, November 13th, at the Dami Event Center, Akilo Road, Ogba, Lagos.

Through keynote speeches, panel discussions, talent showcases, and mentorship sessions, the event will tackle real-life questions and give participants the clarity they need to chart their path after secondary school.
