The popular quote of Princess Diana that 'carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.', could well be used to describe the unexpected fortune that befell former Head Boy of Keke High School, Ifako-Ijaye, Master Tomiwa Abraham yesterday.

Agege Pulse learnt that after graduating in flying colours, Tomiwa took it upon himself to assist other students who are still in school by putting up an outstanding performance during a 2-year extra coaching initiative organised by Brighter Days Youths Empowerment.

His commitment and unrelenting effort was well noticed and won him a four years scholarship.

The presentation of the scholarship award was done today at Keke Senior High School of Education District 1, under the leadership of Tutor General/Permanent Secretary, Dr. Yinka Ayandele.

Two old students of the school, Mr. Olaolu Williams and Kofo Durotimi-Etti of Brighter Days Youths Empowerment Initiative and NextGem Farms Limited respectively, presented the scholarship to Tomiwa.

Agege Pulse gathered that the award is a full scholarship programme which would allow him to study Agriculture/Crop Protection and Environmental Biology in the University of Ibadan free of charge till graduation.

Speaking at the presentation, TGPS Dr. Mrs Ayandele said the gesture epitomizes   a wonderful event of elevation and heartwarming. She commended the kind move to reward excellence by the initiative.

"Thanks to the initiative of Mr. Olaolu Williams and Kofo Durotimi-Etti of Brighter Days Youths Empowerment Initiative and NextGem Farms Ltd that deemed it fit to sponsor former Head Boy of Keke High School, Tomiwa Abraham who is also one of the 300 students of EDD1 who got a straight admission into University upon graduation.

"We appreciate the principals, teachers, school supports and everyone who are contributing immensely to ensure these students have a flourishing future. We hope other students will give much needed attention to their studies in preparation for a day like this." Dr Ayandele concluded.

On his part, Tomiwa Abraham appreciated God for the privilege to witness such a day. He acknowledged how his mother and teachers have been huge source of inspiration to him adding that the Brighter Days Youths Empowerment Initiative and NextGem Farms Limited gave him platform to showcase his love for fellow human being.

Following the announcement of the re-enacted Land Use Charge Law (LUCL) 2018 of Lagos State, the Coalition of Real Estate Investors and Surveyors in Lagos State has revealed that after its thorough analysis of the LUCL 2018, Owners-Occupiers are expected to pay a token percentage of 0.076% of the value of the assessed property.

Mr. Ayokunle Gregory, the convener of Coalition of Real Estate Investors and Surveyors in Lagos, made this revelation through a press statement after a closed-door meeting of the Coalition held in Lagos on Friday, March 2, 2018. While also expressing dismay at the level of misinformation circulating about the law among the unsuspecting public, Mr. Gregory further stated that some mischief-makers were bent on exploiting the new law for their selfish purpose by confusing the entire populace through dissemination of half-truth.

"And as such, we feel obliged to address the falsehood from a professional perspective before the unsuspecting public is misguided to bewilderment and violation of the law".

The newly implemented LUCL 2018 is a repeal of the Land Use Charge Law 2001 (the LUCL 2001) that lacked clarity on the formula used to derive an accurate rate. Also, under the old law, the LUC rate was totally inaccurate and retrogressive which deprived the state of keeping track of all economic activities that relate land in Lagos State.

According to the coalition, the reviewed LUCL 2018 is to put in place a regulated and standardised system that enables clarity and self-assessment. It was reviewed by the Lagos State House of Assembly and signed into Law by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on February 8, 2018. Property owners in the state have gone ahead to pay their LUC following the flag off by the Lagos State Governor on February 19, 2018.

The law is a consolidation of Ground Rent, Tenement Rate, and Neighbourhood Improvement Levy. Thus, the Tenement Rates Law, the Land Based Rates Law, the Neighbourhood Improvement Charge and all other similar Property Rates or Charges, Laws or amendments to any such property Laws shall cease to apply to any property in the State as from February 2018.

Nonetheless, all pending invoices, orders, rules, regulations, etc. under the 2001 repealed Law shall continue to be in effect until such obligations are discharged.
The LUCL is payable annually by owners and occupiers holding a lease to a property for 10 years or more. Using the applicable formula provided by the reviewed law, owners and occupiers can now calculate their rate by multiplying the Market Value (MV) of a property by the Applicable Relief Rate (RR) and Annual Charge Rate (CR).

Providing detailed breakdown on the law, Ayokunle Gregory said, "For Owner-occupied residential property, the LUC per annum is at 0.076%. For instance, if the Market Value of an owner-occupied property is at N15, 000,000.00 it means that that the amount payable is N6,840 per annum only which amounts to N570.00 per month. For a property occupied by tenants, used for commercial purposes, at the same Market Value of N15, 000,000.00, the LUC rate of that property will be N68, 400 per annum".
It was made known that the state government has made available some reliefs applicable to the entire property owners and also some specific owners according to their status.

"These include a general 40% relief for all property liable to LUC payment, a 10% relief for owners and occupiers with persons with disabilities, a 10% relief for owners and occupiers of 70 years and above, a 10% relief for properties above 25 years, a 5% relief for properties occupied by their owners for over 12 years, a 20 % relief for non-revenue generating federal and state government property, and 20% partial relief for non-profit making organisations", he disclosed.

In addition, some properties are exempted from the LUC payment, such as properties used for public and religious activities, properties used as registered educational institutes and charitable activities, properties occupied and owned by pensioners of 60 years and above, public cemeteries and burial ground and all palaces of recognised Obas and Chiefs in the State.

According to the press statement, the state has provided professional services of registered Estate Surveyors and Values to get accurate data which will help in assessment and valuation of properties in the state.

"In order to clear the air of any misinformation, we implore all owners and occupiers of properties in Lagos to do a self-assessment using the formula provided, and also provide officials with valid documents to ensure a smooth run of the exercise for the benefits of all", the coalition concluded.

The Nigerian Women Football Leagues (NWFL) in collaboration with Lagos State Government has called on school girls to consider venturing into sporting activities alongside their studies for a brighter rewarding future.

The charge was given at a career mentorship programme held at Government Girls College under Lagos Education District One Agege, where hundreds of School Girls were encouraged to take advantage of the enormous opportunities embedded in sports in line with their God given talents.

The Career Talk was part of events used to herald the staging of the maiden Nigeria Women Football League Champions Shield title which was eventually won by Rivers Angels after defeating Nasarawa Amazons 4-3 on penalties at the Agege Ultramodern Stadium.

According to the Chairman of Nigerian Women Football League, Mrs. Aishat Falode, the Career Mentorship Programme is aimed at teaching and encouraging over 1000 schools girls across the country on how to make the best use of the opportunities available in sports for them.

Aishat Falode appreciated Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on his tremendous investment in quality education and sports development in the state.

She said, 'If the future of young girls is secured, the future of the Nation is secured as well. Girl child is an asset to the society. She needs quality education combined perfectly with career chosen sports, i.e being a doctor and a footballer.

"There are lots of career opportunities in sports ranging from sports journalism, broadcasters, physiotherapist, players agent, sports merchandising, nutritionist amongst others. However, you need to be focused, disciplined and resolute, then, the sky will be beginning of your shining stars." Falode concluded.

On her part, the Tutor General and Permanent Secretary of Education District 1, Agege Dr. Mrs Yinka Ayandele was full of praise for Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and NWFL - the organisers of the mentorship programme for the wonderful initiatives and opportunities given to the students, stressing that it should not be a one-off show so as to help the children pursue their chosen career in sports at early stage.

"We appreciate our amiable Governor, His Excellency, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode and the Executives of the NWFL for this laudable initiative. Although, the female football team of Education District One has been doing well previously, we are confident that they will become more victorious with the career mentorship programme.

"What we want from our children is to remain focused on their studies as they strive for a career in sports. We want them to see the business part of sports and balance it with education. Through education, they will make most beneficial use of whichever aspect of sports they venture into." Dr Ayandele stressed.

Sharing her experience with the girls, Super Falcons striker, Rasheedat Ajibade said being a sport person has pitched her among kings and queens across the world. She said, "As a student and footballer, I started travelling round the world through the round leather game when my parents didn't have international passports. I've used sports to bring fortune to my family, you can do it too."

RRS NABS FATHER, SON FOR SELLING HARD DRUGS TO SCHOOL PUPILS

The operatives of Rapid Response squad of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested father and son for selling Tramadol and other hard drugs to primary and secondary school pupils in Itire, Lagos.

The father, Ibrahim Sheu (40) and Franku Ibrahim (23) were arrested on Friday after officials of the Office of Education and Quality Assurance, Lagos State, alerted the Rapid Response Squad officers about the incident.

The suspects, who are petty traders at a kiosk in Adedeji Bus stop, Itire, Lagos were caught selling the drugs to school pupils. Some of the pupils were later interrogated and released to their parents.

The officials of the Ministry of Education, Lagos State, on routine monitoring of schools around the area had gotten report of strange attitude of some of the school pupils in the area.

The curiosity led to the discovery of the traders selling tramadol and other hard drug to some of the school pupils in the area.

Further investigations by Rapid Response Squad officials led to the confirmation of the report and arrest of both the father and his son.

Recovered from the suspects were 72 pieces of Tramadol capsules, 28 tablets of Tramol and some other capsules.

The father, Ibrahim Sheu, who initially denied selling hard drugs to pupils, stated that it was his son that sold to the pupils whenever he was not around later confessed they both sold to pupils but added that they sold to adults too.

Commenting on the incident, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal advised parents and guardians to always debrief their wards whenever they come back from school to know their activities in schools and the kind of friends they associate with.

Edgal added that the case would be thoroughly investigated and the prosecution monitored.

The suspects are to be transferred to the SCID for further investigation.

LAGOS, KANO SIGN MoU FOR ECONOMIC PARTNERSHIP, INVESTMENT

The Lagos and Kano State Governments on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for economic partnership and to jointly explore investment opportunities aimed at creating jobs and facilitating growth and development.

The MoU, which was signed by Governors Akinwunmi Ambode and Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Lagos and Kano States respectively, at the closing ceremony of the inaugural Lagos-Kano Economic and Investment Summit held at the Jubilee Chalets, Epe, seeks to create a common platform for exploring, expanding and developing areas of economic development and Investment.

According to the MoU, the two States agreed to expand the current level of economic and investment cooperation between them especially in key areas of Governance, Security, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), Agricultural Value Chain, Tourism, Education, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Skills Development.

Other areas include Commerce with specific focus on ease of doing business and Infrastructure in Power, Transportation and Urban Waste Management.

The objectives of the MoU, among others, are to establish a formal and flexible framework between the two States to expand trade and investment cooperation, foster scientific and technological collaboration for business development in emerging key sectors, strengthen communication, enhance trust, boost economic development and create jobs.

Under the agreement, the two States have also set up a Technical Working Group to oversee the implementation of the objectives of the MoU.

In her closing remarks, Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule, said the signing of the MoU by Governor Ambode and Governor Ganduje was a clear testament of the commitment of both States to collaborate in the overall best interest of the people.

She said the two Governors, by the development, "are telling the entire world that collaboration, cooperation, partnership can always work to bring about economic sufficiency in our States and off course the entire nation."

While describing the summit as historic and successful, Adebule said the programme witnessed presentations from experts, erudite minds, scholars from both public and organised private sector with numerous positions expressed and outlined .

She said: "In this process, our minds have been availed with torrents of ideas, information, statistics, interpretation and above all vision and collaboration leading to economic sufficiency.

"I am convinced that the most valuable outcome of this engagement is the fact that we have Governors who have vision and have the opportunity of sharing this vision. Today, we are not just sharing the vision but providing an enabling environment for this vision to be actualized.

"Today, we have the political will; today, the political will has been demonstrated and it signifies the fact that we are ready for business. Lagos and Kano mean business and we are ready for business," the Deputy Governor said.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has called on Corporate Organisations especially Multinational Companies to partner with government in its various community development projects aimed at improving the quality of lives of residents.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode made the call today at Gbagada in Kosofe Local Council Development Area of the State while commissioning the remodelled Araromi Youth Development Centre donated by the Coca-Cola Company Nigeria.

Represented by his Deputy, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, the Governor noted that Community Development Projects aimed at improving the quality of lives of the people should not be considered as the sole responsibility of Government alone.

He urged other Corporate Organizations to borrow a leaf from Coca-Cola by sponsoring more development projects as part of their corporate social responsibility, assuring that the government will continue to provide an enabling business environment that will guarantee quick returns on their investment.

While commending Coca-Cola for its good vision for Youth Development, Governor Ambode said: “The commissioning of the remodelled Araromi Youth Development Centre today will not only serve the Gbagada community but also join the list of world-class sporting facilities available in Lagos”.

Ambode stated that the present administration is fully committed to the provision of sports parks and vocational facilities in public places so as to revive grassroots, community and school sports in line with the vision of the State government to take the sports sector to the next level.

The Governor opined that all efforts in this direction are yielding positive results as Youths are now being meaningfully engaged in different communities, while indirectly contributing to the growth of the economy of Lagos rather than roaming about or engaging in vices.

He said, “Our plan as a government is to ensure the provision of sports parks and recreational facilities in our communities to revive grassroots, community and school sports, this is in furtherance to the goals of our administration to meaningfully engage our youths in different communities in Lagos State”.

“It provides a platform for the positive engagement of our Youth and the discovery of talented young people who will make a career out of their skills and contribute to the growth of the economy”, Ambode said.

The Governor who charged community leaders to ensure that the public facilities and infrastructure are protected, tasked Youths of Araromi, Ifako and Soluyi areas, who are the direct beneficiaries of the facility, to ensure adequate maintenance and shun any act capable of undermining government’s efforts in sports development.

Earlier, the Managing Director, Coca-Cola Nigeria,  Mr. Bhupendra Suri explained that the organisation has, as part of its corporate social responsibilities, continued to adopt strategic grassroots football initiatives aimed at empowering and inspiring teenage football players to actualize their dreams.

He noted that Nigeria is blessed with a lot of young talented sports athletes but the opportunity to make some of them maximize their potentials is almost non- existent, adding that his company came up with the idea  of upgrading selected football pitches across the country to help young players have access to world-class football training facilities in their communities.

“This is what we did with the COPA Coca-Cola, a grassroots youth-development programme designed to discover budding football talents across the world, provide them with opportunities to pursue their passion while encouraging them to bond with their peers from other parts of Nigeria and beyond”, Suri explained.

Also speaking, the Company’s Director of Public Affairs and Communications, Clement Orji, said the new ultra-modern sports facility is equipped with facilities that include a standby generator, changing rooms, basketball court, spacious car parks, toilets, water and large space for future development of other sporting activities.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan, has said that it is wrong for some people to say that the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is out to reverse the policies of his predecessors.

Bamigbetan said instead of doing that, Ambode was building on the policies of the past governors in the state, including the immediate former governor, Babatunde Fashola’s policies.

The commissioner said this on Tuesday, when he led a team from the state’s Ministry of Information and Strategy on a courtesy visit to The PUNCH Place, the headquarters of the Punch Nigeria Limited, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Bamigbetan was asked if Ambode was trying to reverse the legacies of Fashola by the recent changes in the state’s environmental and sanitation system, to which he replied, no.

He said, “We have not been undoing the policies of the predecessors. Rather, what we have been doing is to build on them and see how we can make them more efficient, effective and people-oriented than before and the refuse and ‘okada’ (commercial motorcyclists’) cases are just part of it.”

Earlier, Bamigbetan had admitted that there had been challenges recently in the collection and disposal of waste in the state, which had made Lagos dirtier with heaps of waste dotting the streets.

The commissioner said the problem was caused because the Private Sector Participation operators, also known as the Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria, who were initially in charge of domestic waste collection had been moved to the commercial sector while Visionscape, the company that should take over from them had challenges getting its equipment into the country.

He said, “It is a fact that we do not build compactors in this country. It is a fact that our manufacturing sector is so weak that you cannot even have them produce bins, so they have to be sourced from abroad and for you to bring them in; they must go through the Customs’ process. So, a company that had been given the mandate to take over from January 1, was still battling with Customs processing.

“What will normally take one month to do in other countries, including Togo, takes five months here. It took them (Visionscape) five months to get the first batch of compactors in. They had a target of 600 compactors but as of now, they have fewer than 200 compactors.

Barely three (3) months into their registration as a Political Party by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP), which prides itself in collection, accommodation and presentation of vibrant young Nigerians with innovative adoption of technology has gone ahead to hold its congress recently, while also conducting election of members into Party’s national offices so as to set out for work ahead of 2019.

The congress in Abuja saw already, many, registered members who travelled down from various States to exercise their rights to participate in politics. The election of members into Party’s offices was done in an open Option A4 format, where the delegates stood behind the contestants of their choices for a transparent counting in order to elect the officers.

Speaking at the congress, the National Chairman elect, Mr. Tope Fasua declared that the practice was to show other parties how to conduct internal democracy with transparency. He said that the ANRP would be a “First Force Party” for Nigerians to take as model, but not a “Third Force” for any of the existing political parties in Nigeria.

While he appraised the organic membership generation and impressive turn out at their first ANRP congress in only a short time after its registration by INEC, Mr. Fasua declares that crowd-funding is also one of the party’s outstanding qualities that readily distinguishes it from others.

He said the choice of Eagle Square as venue for their first congress without having any access to national vault or Government resources is one of evidences that the Party is well started-out and has great potential as a platform for young Nigerians to take their political destinies in their hands.

The congress was also observed by officials of INEC, student observers and some Nigerians from diaspora who attended by way of solidarity and support for the party’s innovative standing.

A delegate from Lagos which is an Agege based Azeez Nurudeen serving as a coordinator from ANRP Agege LGA witnessed the event encourage young adults to take their destinies into their hands by getting involve in politics at the grassroots level.

Meet The Elegushi of Ikateland

HRM Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi (Kusenla III), the youngest Oba in Lagos State, was born to the family of late (Oba) Yekini Adeniyi Elegushi, Elegushi Royal Family of Ikateland, Lagos State on the 10th of April, 1976.

He had his Primary School Education at the St. Mathias Primary School, Lagos between 1981 and 1987. He also had his Secondary School Education at the Methodist Boys’ High School, Lagos between 1988 and 1994 and went to the prestigious Lagos State University, Ojo Campusbetween the year 1995 and 2000 and studied Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) in Economics where he graduated with a Second Class Honourary Degree.

He also had his Master’s Degree in Economics at the Lagos State University, Ojo Campus between 2002 and 2003.

The then Prince Saheed Ademola Elegushi also proceeded to the University of Manchester, Manchester Business School, United Kingdomand studied Master Degree in Public Administration between the year 2008 and 2010 before his emergence as the Oba Elegushi of Ikateland.

Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi has worked in many sectors and has many more years of experience accumulated in various capacities as a distinguished professional, politician and a philanthropist.

The handsome  Oba Elegushi is married to Olori Sekinat Aramide Elegushi and blessed with three (3) kids.

He was the Personal Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu between 2003 and 2007 and remained the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN on Special Duties from June 2007 until his installation as the Oba Elegushi of Ikateland on the 27th of April, 2010.

In a bid to fulfill campaign promises and improve the welfare of Traditional Rulers in Agege, Executive Chairman of Agege LGA, Hon. Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi has rained cash gifts on all the eleven Baales under the council.

Egunjobi played host to all the Baales yesterday at the council's Secretariat where several issues affecting offices of the traditional rulers were discussed. Top on the agenda was the need for all the 11 palaces in the council to wear new looks.

Speaking on the purpose of the meeting and cash gifts, Egunjobi said the effort is to proffer solutions to issues mitigating their leadership and communities as well as to give the palaces of all the traditional rulers a facelift following long years of clamour for welfare improvement.

Egunjobi used the medium to urge all Baales to sensitise their communities on illegal dumping of refuse in their communities to avoid unhealthy environment.

In addition, the Council Head of Administration, Engr. M. Abass implored the Baales to be part of revenue generation by sensitising members of their communities on prompt payment of their levies and taxes, adding that it will go in a long way to create more dividends of democracy to people of Agege.

Engr. Abass stressed that Agege is keying into the system of Lagos State by making payment go electronically for easy access and to avoid double and illegal payment.

Chairman of Baales, High Chief Afogunlowo on behalf of others thanked Hon. Egunjobi for his service to humanity and focus on welfare delivery.  Afogunlowo urged the council to do more in the area of sensitisation on revenue collection either through print medium or electronically.

Present at the events were Vice Chairman Prince Abiodun Ogunji, Leader of the House, Hon. Kola Anigbajumo, HoA, Engr. Abass, SLG, Hon. Gbenga Abiola, HoDs, Councilors, Supervisors amongst others.

The Baales include, Chief S.A Afogunlowo Dopemu, Chief, L.I. Ajagunna, Keke, Chief S.O. Sobande, Onipetesi, Chief S.A. Salako, Otubu, Chief R.A. Ogundare, Papa Jafojo, Chief I.A. Opaleye, Oniwaya.

Others are Chief T.A. Adebari, Iloro, Chief Majaro Balogun, Ajegunle, Chief T.A. Ogabi, Idi-Mongoro, Chief Rufai Kuku, Isale Oja and Chief N.A. Sunmonu.

United Nations Praises LASG Over Yoruba Language Preservation Law

When Lagos State Governor, His Excellency, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode signed the bill on the preservation and promotion of Yoruba Language into law recently, many were of the opinion that it's another beautiful law meant to be active on paper. But, barely two weeks into the approval, the beauty of the cultural heritage of Yoruba race was colourfully exemplified on Wednesday February 21st when International Mother Language Day was celebrated across Lagos schools.

It is no more news that the Lagos State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Honourable Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa has been on the front seat of promoting and preserving Yoruba Language in the state, through it's commitment to holding Thursdays plenary sessions in Yoruba Language.

At an event which was organized by the United Nations Information Centre, UNIC in collaboration with Lagos Education District One, students, teachers, and school managers exhibited the beauty of Yoruba culture to the world through parade of colourful traditional attires, cultural rendition of poems and effective manipulations of cultural articles like talking drums, calabash and many more.

An elated National Information Officer of the United Nations Information Centre Nigeria, Dr Oluseyi Soremekun could not hold his enthusiasm after seeing exquisite rendition of Yoruba Language by students of the district.

Dr Soremekun commended the Lagos State Government for making Yoruba Language a compulsory subject in its schools. He said the signing of the Yoruba Language Promotion and Preservation Bill into Law Correlates with the 2018 theme of the IMLD tagged ‘Linguistic diversity and Multilingualism Count for Sustainable Development’.

While addressing students and teachers at Vetland School Agege, on the occasion of the 2018 International Mother Language Day, Dr Soremekun said, "We greet our amiable Governor Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode because our governor is someone that takes the culture and tradition of the Yoruba language very important by putting up policy to ensure the language doesn't fade off. However, I call on other State Governments to emulate Lagos State and make compulsory, the indigenous languages in their States.

"Language is culture. Culture is a way of life. It manifests in thoughts, dressing, music, dances, foods, etc. Be proud of your mother tongue. Learn it. Speak it. Use it. Teach the younger ones." Dr Soremekun added.

On her part, the Permanent Secretary and Tutor General of EDDI, Dr (Mrs) Olufolayimika Abiose Ayandele, was overwhelmed by how fluently, clearly and deeply students manipulated the Yoruba Language while making 'Ifa' (Yoruba Deity) consultations and poetry rendition to commemorate the day.

In a chat with Agege Pulse, Dr. Ayandele who dressed in blue-shining "Aran" (Yoruba Ceremonial Robe) cloth advised that Yoruba's rich culture should go beyond dressing, noting that the people's character, attitude and behaviour as Yorubas should promote sustainable peace in the land.

The award winning Doctor urged the gathering to cultivate the ability to learn more than one language. She commended the student for their comportment and maverick display of Yoruba articles denoting it's rich cultural heritage.

"These wonderful performances in Yoruba Language, display of our articles and fashion styles is an indication that Yoruba Language is safe in Education District 1, Lagos and Nigeria at large.

"Our unalloyed appreciation goes to Lagos State Government. From the Lawmakers to the Executives and other concerned stakeholders who strived to ensure the promotion and preservation of Yoruba Cultural Heritage became a law in the state, I strongly believe we have taken a step in the right direction which will be appreciated by generations to come." Dr Ayandele asserted.
