Dangote Foundation Empowers 2000 Agege, Orile-Agege Women

Not less than 1000 indigent women of Agege Local Government Area and its environs have been alleviated by the Dangote Foundation in the ongoing Dangote micro grants initiative geared towards complementing existing grassroots efforts to empower indigent women across Nigeria. The micro grants programme is focused on the destitute and vulnerable women in the targeted communities.

The initiative staged in conjunction with Lagos State Women Affair & Poverty Alleviation, (WAPA) Agege branch ensured beneficiaries received N10,000.00 cash and mobile phones to empower the 2000 women in both Agege and Orile Agege.

Uduak Ndiokho, the Executive Assistant of Dangote foundation expressed that Ten Thousand Naira, a phone and Airtel simpack were given to each beneficiary. She told AgegePulse that the foundation is currently in partnership with the Lagos state government through the commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affair of Lagos State with tremendous support of the Sole Administrators of all local government areas.

However, Ndiokho frowned at the inclusion of a large number of men on the list submitted to the foundation in Agege. She reiterated that the micro grant programme is mainly for women and it is to help them expand their respective businesses.

One of the programme beneficiaries, Mrs. Joke Badmus, thanked Dangote, Lagos State & Agege (WAPA) for this wonderful initiative, stating that the money came at the right time for her business.
