EID-EL-FITR Celebration: Egunjobi addresses Agege Residents

AgegePulse Magazine

On behalf of the Executive, Legislative, Management & Staff of Agege Local Government, i felicitate with the Muslim community in Agege on the successful completion of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-fitr festival.

May Allah accept all our sacrifices during the fasting period as an act of Ibadah and reward us abundantly.

Importantly, it's my prayer that God in His benevolence will help us beat the ravaging coronavirus, protect frontliners in the war against it and graciously imbue scientists with the knowledge to find cure and vaccine in no distant time.

While we're hoping on God for mercy, i enjoin all residents to abide with lockdown and social distancing protocols and maintain personal and environmental hygiene.

Please endeavour to keep to the new normal: wearing face masks, washing hands with soaps regularly, using hand-sanitiser among others.

In the word of President, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, our spiritual leader, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sir Abubakar Saad,
"Muslims are enjoined to note that Eid-el-fitr is not a compulsory religious activity (fard) and at no point should it be observed if doing so will undermine the fundamental purpose of Shariah: security, a multifaceted concept, which includes personal, community, national, environmental and health components, among others."

It's pertinent to reiterate that there is curfew between 8.00pm and 6.00am and the orders banning congregational worship and bars from operating are in force.

 *Happy Special Eid-el-fitr celebration*
