…Denies Allegations Of Multibillion Naira Fraud
Obasa |
The embattled former speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa today publicly spoke for the first time on his removal, saying the process failed to follow constitutional procedure.
Obasa, who returned to Lagos today to the cheering of his supporters, said it was important for the lawmakers to “follow constitutional procedure” to remove him as speaker.
Reacting to allegations of multibillion naira corruption levelled against him as part of the reasons for his removal, Obasa described the alleged financial misappropriations as “impossible.”
“I am not disturbed, I am not afraid,” Obasa said of the “Developments that happened at the assembly.”
Obasa spoke to a huge crowd of supporters at the Speaker’s Lodge, 47, GRA Ikeja Lagos.
Following Obasa’s removal while he was away in the United States of America, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda from Apapa 01 Constituency was sworn-in as the new Speaker. Meranda was the deputy speaker to Obasa.
Meranda had since secured the acceptance of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC), a powerful group within the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
