Agege Railway Corridor: LASG, Egunjobi, Others Security Agencies To Enforce Law On defaulters


 Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government, High Chief Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi are set to enforce maximum safety and sanitation around the Agege railway station.


This was contained in the stakeholders meeting tagged " Enlarged Stakeholders in a meeting with The Hausa Community and Railway Community on the need to protect the railway line and to prevent fatality on the railway line" held at the Babatunde Raji Fashola Train Terminal in Agege.



Welcoming the participants, the Chairman, Agege Local Government, Alhaji Ganiyu Egunjobi on the need to orientate the Hausa Community living around the railway line to vacate and avoid the construction of shanties and unauthorized structures along the railway axis, which can obstruct the smooth operation of rail system and the passenger.


He appealed to leaders of the different communities living around the railway lines to inform their people about the decision of the Government to get rid of all obstructions and shanties.



According to the chairman, the overall purpose of sanitation are to provide a healthy living environment for everyone, to protect the natural resources and to provide safety , security and dignity for the people.


He expressed his commitment towards partnership with the community in line with the Lagos State Themes 


"Enforcing the law and holding the people accountable for their actions will always be a priority to this government" 



"For the community policing , there will always be a need to hold people who break the law accountable for their actions"


 "finally, and importantly, many groups across the wards in Agege Local Government are committed to making a difference"


The Representative of the Governor of Lagos State, Hon Afolabi Ayantayo , Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Pension urged the traders trading around the train station to desist from their habit of selling where the government has not approved for them.


He reiterated his commitment towards ensuring sanity around the axis.


Saying that the markets have been designated for buying and selling and not the railway lines



Sanwo-olu warned that anyone who go against the law will be arrested by the law enforcement agency and will be dealt with by the law of the land.


Adding that discussion is ongoing on how the  pedestrian bridge will be constructed at Pen cinema to discourage people from crossing the train tracks.


The representative of the Lagos Speaker, Hon Abd'l Kareem Hon Jubreel Ayodeji Abdulkareem ,  member representing Agege Constituency 02 at the Lagos Assembly,

Urged the Hausa community to comply with the state government directives on sanitation exercise around the train station.



The commander Lagos State Rapid Response Squad, CSP Yinka Egbeyemi was concise in his remark, said that to before warn, is to before harm. That the failure to comply with the government directives will bring about full enforcement.


Egbeyemi was represented by his 2nd in Command, SP Adejare Adewale. 


Representatives of the affected communities pleaded with the Government to give more time before enforcement, while appealing for a pedestrian bridge around Pen Cinema and Agege Market.


Afterwards, the stakeholders toured the surroundings of the Babatunde Raji Fashola train station at Agege and gave stern warnings to unwanted occupiers of the Spaces around the Station.


 Present at the meeting, Agege vice chairman, Hon  Oluwagbenga Abiola Omaco, gave the vote of thanks HRM, Oba Kamila Oyedeji Isiba, Hon Alliu Najeem Olohuntoyin , Hon Habib Aileru, Chief Imam Agege, 


Others include, Hon. Olaide Oladebo, Baale in Council, Ward Chairmen, Councillors, Supervisors, representatives of Seriki Agege ,Alhaji Yusuf Saadu, Chairman,Arewa Movement,  Market women among others.
