The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka today organized  a stakeholders in hospitality sector to proffer solutions challenging the Tourism sector in the state.

The program, Themed: Addressing Current Industry Challenges, Exploring Emerging Trends, Understanding Policy Frameworks and Unveiling Collaborative Opportunities Within The Entire Hospitality Value Chain at  Zinnia Hall, Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos.


Speaking at the event, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka said The hospitality sector plays a vital role in the economic development of Lagos State. This sector does not only provide employment to thousands but also serves as a gateway for showcasing our rich cultural heritage, vibrant arts scene, and unparalleled hospitality.

"It is my great pleasure to welcome you all to this important engagement session with tourism stakeholders in the hospitality sector and I feel honored to address you today on the critical issues, emerging trends, and opportunities within our industry.

"We are all not unaware of the significant challenges our industry faces, from the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic to evolving customer expectations and increased competition.

"With this gathering, we want to address these challenges head-on. We must adapt to the changing landscape by embracing new technologies and sustainable practices.


"Emerging trends in this sector such as digital transformation, eco-tourism, and personalized customer experiences are reshaping the way we operate. It is imperative that we stay ahead of these trends to remain competitive and relevant.



"In Lagos State, we are committed to creating an enabling environment for the hospitality sector to thrive. Our policy frameworks are being continually reviewed to ensure they support growth, innovation, and sustainability. We are also focused on improving infrastructure, enhancing security, and promoting Lagos as a prime tourist destination. 

We strive to make the industry, as with other climes, data driven, through the capturing of the entire hospitality sector on a database we can also share with the rest of the world.  We are digitizing our registration processes and would no longer operate manually in this capturing process.

Addressing to gathering with the topic , Enhancing Compliance in the Hospitality Sector, The GM Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola, Special Adviser on Transport, Hon. Shola Giwa, Chairman, LIRS, Mr. Ayodele Subaru, Special Adviser on Tax, Mr. AbdulKabir Ogungbo and GM LASEPA, Dr. Tunde Ajayi among others expressed feeling of making a tourism sector a collaborative opportunities within the Hospitality value chain.



They advised Lagosians To Explore Tourism and  Water Transportation as part of activities to curb traffic congestion in Lagos with the effort of Mr. Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu investing hugely to ensure water transportation is safe for all.


Issues of multiple Taxation, Land Use Charge, noise pollution, illegal parking, noise pollution, and policies endangering an healthy business environment were all discussed.


In the area of Public-Private Partnership, President Hotel Owners & Managers Association of Lagos, Chief Alabi, President Restaurants Cafes, Bars and Club, Mrs. Tannaz Eterbarian, CEO, Koko Beach, Hotel & Resorts, Mr. Richard Shittu and Owner of Ile-Iya, Mr. Mustapha Olasunkanmi all discussed on strengthening a collaborative efforts towards government policies and frames works, simplicity in visa application that will harness  hospitality business a point of call for Nigerians at home and in diaspora, noting that all these were put together to  overcome the challenges, harness the opportunities, and set new benchmarks for excellence.

Lagos To Host 1st Real Estate Market Place Conference, Exhibition | AgegePulse Magazine




The Lagos State Government has announced that plans have been concluded to hold the first ever Real Estate Market Place Conference and Exhibitions between Wednesday,9th and Thursday,10th December, 2020.


The Conference and Exhibitions will be hosted by the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority, LASRERA at Expo Hall of Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.


The initiative according to the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Housing, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka was designed to provide a meeting-point for real estate practitioners and their potentials clients.


She informed that the State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, his Deputy Dr. Obafemi Kadiri Hamzat and some other key stakeholders in the built sector have been billed to attend the two day event. 


She urged  residents especially those interested in real estate properties to attend the event and meet with verified real estate developers with affordable home purchase schemes. 


Benson-Awoyinka explained that the forum also provides an avenue for participants to meet genuine practitioners with track records and traceable identities, stressing that all participants have been registered and their data captured by LASRERA. 


The Special Adviser assured Lagosians that the event which promises to be a One  Shop Stop for the real estate sector and will bring a total turn around into Real Estate businesses are transactions in Nigeria, assuring that real estate practice in Lagos State is now changing the narrative of fraudulent practices and unprofessionalism which the industry has been known for over the years.

PEARL AWARDS 24TH YEAR EDITION SET FOR EKO HOTEL THIS SUNDAY

The stage is now set for the glamorous occasion where corporate titans are celebrated - 2019 PEARL Awards Nite. The PEARL Awards, instituted in 1995 is endorsed by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the apex Capital Market regulatory authority. Commenting on the event which is in its 24th edition, the President of PEARL Awards Nigeria, Tayo Orekoya remarked that this year’s Awards Nite promises to be novel yet glamorous. “The event is being remodeled from an operational stand point to be more appealing and engaging on a night of excellence and glamour”.

Confirmed to grace the occasion are Mr. Olufemi Lijadu, Chairman, Board of Securities & Exchange Commission; Ms. Mary Uduk, Ag. Director-General, Securities & Exchange Commission; Bashorun J.K. Randle, Past President, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria; Mr Kayode Falowo, President, Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce, among a host of other captains of commerce and industry.

Awards to be presented for deserving companies fall within the class of Sectoral Leadership, Market Excellence, Special Recognition, Special Honorary and then the Overall Highest Award (The PEARL). In all these categories mentioned, three nominees have been shortlisted and publicly announced on 22nd October 2019, with the winners to be announced at the event come November 24 at Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos.

The PEARL Awards remains the only Awards event in Sub Saharan Africa that identifies and rewards quoted companies based on empirical data. Which is predominately based on data sourced from audited financial reports companies, utilizing credible parameters and tools of data evaluation that meet international standards.
