By Yomi Durojaye

Following the recent economic situations in the country and incapacitation of indigent students to pursue the future academic career, the Chairman of Governing Council of Kaduna Polytechnic, a citadel of learning, Dr. Kemi Pinheiro (SAN) has sacrificed his allowance for the students of the institution.

This was contained in a statement sent to the Rector of the Institution, Dr. Suleiman Umar, on the 9th of September, 2024 stating that, "Re: Allowances as a Chairman, Kaduna Polytechnic Governing Council (8th Governing Council)

"This correspondence was served to confirm to you that allowances for sitting or however, due to me as a Chairman of the 8th Governing Council during my tenure should be utilized for the payment of admission fees or support for the academic fee of any Indigent in my name, and evidence of these payment forwarded to me  for my records.

"For the records, I humbly State that, I shall not personally collect sitting or allowances during my tenure".

"While thanking you for your understanding and the exemplary work you do for our great institution, please be assured of my regards and best wishes".

According to him this would give an opportunity to brilliant and hardworking students who choose our institutions admitted into the school.

"At this critical time of our economy, the historic initiative will enable parents and students who find it very difficult to finance their education a lifeline to  excel in their academic performances and will also snowball into having the best of best future leaders in the coming years". Dr. Kemi Concluded.

El-rufai Issues Demolition Notices To 40 Churches, 16 Schools

A large crowd of residents of Gbagyi Villa – a suburb of Kaduna metropolis trooped out, carrying placards in protest against demolition notices issued to them by Kaduna State Urban Planning Development Authority, KASUPDA. The residents said they had been living in the community for decades and had acquired the necessary titles to the lands and, as such, were jolted by the intention of Kaduna State government to eject them.

Mr. Chris Obodum, Chairman, Gbagyi Community, later told journalists that the community boasted of about 3,500 buildings, 40 churches, 16 schools and 35,000 residents. He narrated: ‘The story of Gbagyi Villa is easy to understand. For hundreds of years, the area has been inhabited by the Gbagyi people.

El-Rufai later told journalists that the residents of Gbagyi Villa were illegal squatters and that anyone who did not have C-of-O and Building Permit would have his house pulled down. Since none of the residents has C-of-O, it invariably means that the ‘Villa’ will be demolished.

APC CRISIS: oshiomole came too late, we are leaving. -Shehu Sani

Senator Shehu Sani has said there is no going back on the decision of aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress in Kaduna State to leave the party.

Sani stated this during an interaction with newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday.

He said if only the new National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, had assumed office earlier, the scenario could have been different.

But he said Oshiomhole was coming too late with this reconciliation agenda.

He described the situation that led to the crisis as grenade laid by the former National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, adding that they will explode in a matter of days.

He said: “I wish Adams has come earlier because like I said these grenades that were laid by the former chairman will explode in a matter of days.”

Sani said party leaders, including President Muhammadu Buhari, have proved incapable of handling the crisis.

He said the ward, local government and state congresses in Kaduna State were flawed and that complaints he and other party members lodged were ignored by the Odigie-Oyegun-led National Working Committee.

He said: “It is also very clear to us that even President Muhammadu Buhari is incapable of tackling the menace of the governor of Kaduna State.

“How can a governor openly call for violence against senators and not a statement came from the seat of power cautioning such a governor?

“How can a governor move bulldozers and demolish a house of a fellow party member, the one who helped him to be where he is and there is not even a statement from the Presidency?
“The governor uses the machinery of the state to emasculate political opponents.

“He even framed me for murder and there was no statement that came from the Presidency to caution such a governor.

“Virtually, Kaduna State under governor El-Rufai does not create conducive environment for any of us to remain in that party.
“There were three attempts to resolve the Kaduna APC crisis.
“There was Inuwa Abdulkadir committee, which was never respected by the governor.

“There was the Governor (Aminu) Masari-led committee, which was also not respected and there as you can see, (Asiwaju Bola Ahmed) Tinubu’s attempt to reconcile members of the party was simply naturalized and abandoned.

“So we are not slaves to continue to be in that party.”
