Celebrating Baba Sala: Baba Sala Mega Tribute Concert, The father of Nigerian comedy





That title, earned over five decades in the entertainment industry, suited legendary comic actor, Moses Adejumo, popularly called Baba Sala, best.

Moses Olaiya Adejumo popularly known as Baba Sala is the pioneer of the Nigerian comedy film industry who brought happiness into many homes.
Baba Sala was a movie writer, actor, musician and producer.

In 1964 he was the head of a group known as Federal Rhythm Dandies. The band was the toast of Nigerian elites.

The comedian discovered, tutored and mentored the lead guitarist who would later become known as King Sunny Ade.

By 1969, Moses Olaiya had become a full-time professional theatre comedian after he disbanded his Moses Olaiya Concert Party.

His martyrdom at 81 on Sunday August 8, 2018 signaled the end of a significant chapter in the history of the Nigerian film industry.

So as to aggrandize his lifetime and achievements we have come up with a Mega tribute Concert.

The Mega Tribute Concert will be hosted by Baba Sala’s Daughter Oyindamola Adejumo Ayibiowu, Gbenga Adeyinka as Co-host and King Sunny Ade as Chief Host.

Chairman of the event is Alh. Lai Mohammed and His Excellency Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and His Amiable wife are Special
Guest of Honour.

The event will have several artistes and actors present as well as captains of industries.
The Event is slated for Thursday, 29th November 2018 at the prestigious Blue Roof, LTV Agidingbi, Ikeja – Lagos, by 4pm.

Iwobi is Nigeria's Most Valuable Player in European



Alex Iwobi is now ahead of Wilfred Ndidi as the most valuable Nigerian footballer in Europe.



Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi is now the Most Valuable Nigerian footballer in Europe according to the CIES Football Observatory for November.

The 22-year-old who signed a contract extension at the Emirates Stadium is the only Nigerian player abroad that is worth over 50 million euros according to the latest rankings.



The rankings are released for the top five league across Europe and Iwobi is now ahead of Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi who was ranked the Most Valuable Nigerian Player in Europe.

Iwobi’s emergence as the most valuable Nigerian in Europe is no surprise as he has become a regular at Arsenal producing impressive performances for the Gunners.

The Hale Academy graduate is worth €52.4m, as Ndidi’s market value of €79.2m in February 2018 has now dropped to €49.8 million.

The €18.5m reduction in Ndidi’s value has come after he also signed a long-term contract with Leicester City after the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Retired Super Eagles forward Victor Moses is the third most valuable Nigeria, the Chelsea star is worth €37.4m.

Other players in the top five are Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho worth €17.5m and Bordeaux new boy Samuel Kalu worth €8.3m.

Moses, Oshoala Win Big At Aiteo/NFF Awards; Okocha, Kanu, Odegbami In Legends XI

Super Eagles and Chelsea star, Victor Moses, has been named Player of the Year for Men while Asisat Oshoala won Player of the Year for Women in the maiden edition of the 2018 Aiteo/Nigeria Football Federation awards.

The award was held inside the Grand Ballroom of the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos on Monday.

Present at the award included NFF President Amaju Pinnick, First Vice President Seyi Akinwunmi, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura, CAF President Ahmad Ahmad and Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.



Former Nigeria internationals Segun Odegbami, Austin Okocha, Friday Ekpo, Christian Chukwu, Mutiu Adepoju, Daniel Amokachi, Garba Lawal, Emmanuel Okala, Felix Owolabi, Wilson Oruma, Femi Opabunmi, Ann Chiejine, Rita Nwadike were present at the awards, with some of them presenting awards.

The award for the Young Player of the Year for Men went to 2018 CHAN defender Ikouwem Udoh while the Young Player of the Year for Women went to Super Falcons forward Rasheedat Ajibade.

Plateau United coach Kennedy Boboye was presented with the Men’s Coach of the Year award, while former Super Falcons goalkeeper and assistant coach Ann Chiejine went home with the Women’s Coach of the Year award.




MFM FC forward Sikiru Olatunbosun got the award for the Goal of the Year for his wonder strike against Rangers last season.



In other categories, the Fair Play award went to Nigeria National League club Remo Stars, the Fans of the Year award was presented to El-Kanemi Warriors.

Channel Sports got Sports Station of the Year, Infantino was presented with the Platinum award and also awards were given to a selected Nigerian Legends both men and women.

Also, top Nigerian artistes like Simi, Tiwa Savage, Kiss Daniel, Reekado Banks, Pato Ranking and Falz were on hand to thrill audience a the awards.
