NOUN Establishment In Agege'II Increase Adult Education, Job Opportunities - Egunjobi

The Executive Chairman, Agege Local Government in Lagos State, Alhaji Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi has lauded the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) initiative to establish a study centre in Agege.

Recently, NOUN management solicited the council’s support to establish a study centre in the area, by bringing education to the doorsteps of people in Agege and its environs.

Egunjobi said that the proposal was a welcome development.

“The proposal is a welcome development, it is in consonance with my administration’s drive for improved access to education at all levels for Agege residents.

“The council will be deeply committed to the project and will ensure it comes to pass while keeping to its own side of the bargain,” he said in a statement

The statement was signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Rotimi Sulyman.

According to him, the project fits into some of the policies of the administration, which are to improve educational infrastructure and access to education across all ages, families and backgrounds.

The chairman said that the council would do its best to ensure that the project would be a reality so as to bring education to the doorsteps of the people.

"The initiative when established will increase adult education due to learning and working style of the institute, and also engage our youths positively".

"We will also make provision to give special arrangement when it comes to recruitment both in academic and non academic so as to create more job opportunities for our people". Egunjobi asserted.

Education: NOUN To Open Study Centre In Agege

The literacy level of the people of Agege is set to witness a great lift if the information at our disposal comes to reality. This is because the National Open University of Nigeria  (NOUN) says it will set up a branch of the University in Agege, a surbub of Lagos State.

This great news was disclosed yesterday during a courtesy call on the palace of Olu of Agege kingdom, HRM Oba Kamila Oyedeji Isiba, Alaige of Orile Agege, HRM, Oba Hakeem Ambaliu Agbedeyi, and Sarkin Hausawan, Alhaji Musa Muhammed Dongo Kadai by the delegate members of the Advocacy Committee of the National Open University of Nigeria  (NOUN). The team was led by the Director of NOUN'S Lagos study center, Prof. A.G. Sulaimon.
 
AgegePulse gathered that the delegation on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of the institution came to inform the Royal Father and his Chiefs of their intention to establish a national open university center within his domain, Agege.

Prof.Sulaimon while addressing the custodian of  the culture and tradition in Agege, expressed satisfaction on the peaceful co-existence of diversed ethnical residence of Agege kingdom, stressing that Agege kingdom is an ideal place for the establishment of NOUN.

He  therefore solicited for the support of his Royal Majesty in mobilizing prominent sons amd daughters and corporate bodies operating within the area to support the drive to bring education close  through the provision of infrastructure for the establishment of open university of Nigeria study center in Agege community.

In his response, the Olu of Agege kingdom expressed gratitude to the Management of the school for counting Agege worthy of such great establishment, he however pledged his total support towards realising this goal while reassuring the visitors of his people's warm hospitality after the establishment of NOUN in Agege.

According to Signature Magazine, high point of the visit was the presentation of a letter to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly who is also the leader of Agege Constituency, #RT. #Hon #MUDASHIRU #AJAYI #OBASA, sent through the palace of the Olu Agege Kingdom and the presentation of Special Souvenir to the Royal father.
