Children's Day: LAWMA Boss Tasks Parents on Recycling Education for Kids




As the world commemorates Children’s Day, Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, has tasked parents on early teaching of waste sorting and recycling to their children and wards, to build a sustainable environment for the future.

He said this at the agency’s headquarters, Ijora-Olopa, as LAWMA celebrated with children, featuring a series of educational activities and games designed to engage children and raise awareness on environmental sustainability.

Gbadegesin highlighted the significance of instilling proper waste management habits in the younger generation, stressing that parents had an important role to play in educating their children about recycling and waste sorting, noting that early education on these topics was essential for fostering environmentally responsible citizens.

He said, "Teaching our children about recycling and proper waste management is required for the future of our environment. As parents, it is our responsibility to ensure that they understand the impact of their actions on the planet. By incorporating these lessons into their daily lives, we can nurture a generation that is conscious of their environmental footprint and committed to sustainable practices."

The LAWMA boss stated that the Authority’s commitment to environmental education extended beyond Children's Day, as the agency had been actively involved in numerous initiatives aimed at promoting waste management education in schools and communities across Lagos State, which included school outreach programs and community clean-up campaigns.

"As an organisation, LAWMA is dedicated to creating a cleaner and healthier Lagos. Our efforts in promoting waste management education are part of our broader mission to foster a culture of environmental responsibility. We believe that by educating our children, we are laying the foundation for a greener future", he noted.

In her goodwill message, Director of Environmental Education Unit, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Mrs. Monsurat Banire, represented by Mrs Olufunke Olaleye, commended the Authority for investing in children, noting that children were the greatest investment.

She said: "When we involve children in anything we do, we are assured of a better and sustainable future.  The Ministry of Environment knows the value of environmental education and that is why we have the unit to raise you all as environmental ambassadors, who will preserve our planet. I celebrate you all and I wish you a wonderful celebration ".

Also speaking, the head of LAWMA Academy Training and Development, Mrs. Bola Adewumi, noted that the Authority was committed to raising children to become ambassadors of sustainable environmental practices, urging the children to maintain a positive attitude to the environment, to make it people-friendly.

Orile Agege LCDA Boss, Babatunde Dole Out 21 Million Naira to 210 Residents

The Executive Chairman of Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has put a smile of the faces of Two hundred and ten (210) residents with the sum of #100,000 each.

It was gathered that Mega Financial Empowerment Program, cost the council a sum of 21 Million Naira.


In his address, Hon Babatunde emphasized that governance, in its true essence, revolves around making a tangible impact on the lives of the people. This principle has been the guiding light of his administration since day one.


He reiterated that the  pressing issue of fuel subsidy and the untold hardship it has brought upon our nation. He stressed that finding viable solutions to this problem is a priority for his administration, as it directly affects the cost of living and the livelihoods of his community.


Part of the empowerment initiative includes support to build and scale up small-scale businesses, with a keen focus on entrepreneurship as a means to ameliorate poverty within the community. The Chairman mentioned that there was transparency in selection of the recipients, he stated that 15 slots were given to People with disability, demonstrating his inclusive approach to empowerment.


Additionally, the Chairman hinted at a visionary plan—a 100-hectare Orile-Agege farming center. This ambitious initiative aims to boost agricultural activities within the LCDA, promoting food security, economic growth, and employment opportunities for residents.

Lagos NURTW Boss MC Olu-Omo Loses Mother

 Lagos State NURTW Chairman, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, MC OluOmo today lost his mother Alhaja  Abebi Zinat Omotonwo Akinsanya  at early hour of today.

The Lagos NURTW boss disclosed this on his social media handle and it reads:


“Innalilah wahina ilaehi rojiun”

Mother of Mc Oluomo Died

Alhaja  Abebi Zinat Omotonwo mother of the Chairman, NURTW Lagos State Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya *MC Oluomo* has passed away at early hour of today.

The aged woman who was true Muslim worshiper until her death passed away peacefully in her residence located at NNPC. She will be buried today in line with Islamic rites at her residence.

The members of the family however appreciate everyone that has been calling to condole with the family since the news filter out.

They appreciate their concern and uses this avenue to inform them that the burial will be attended strictly by family members Only.

We appreciate and understand that there are so many people who would have loved to pay their last respect to our late Mother Alhaja Abebi Zinat Omotonwo but will be unable to do so due to the present ban on large gatherings.

#Covid-19: NURTW Boss, MC Olu-Omo Distributes Food Items To Masses In Lagos

...Urges Lagosians To Stay Indoor

It is in the spirit of solidarity with the stay at home order of the state government that the NURTW chairman, Lagos State Council, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya Mc Oluomo shared food items to the masses at various motor parks across the Lagos State

In a statement, the NURTW Boss, said that "there is no denying the fact that this is a tough time, not only for the masses but also to the elite in the society. Both the employers as well as the employees are feeling the negative impact of the dreaded virus popularly called Coronavirus. We can only pray for God's quickest intervention in curbing this epidemic in Lagos and Nigeria in general".



MC Olu Omo noted that majority of Lagosians are aware of the existence of the virus in our society. They are also aware that to stop the spread, there is urgent need for people to stay at home but in a situation where there is nothing to eat at home, one would definitely be forced to go out to look for means of survival.

"It is in bid to ensure the effectiveness of the stay at home directive of the state government that the NURTW Boss shared some food items".
AgegePulse learnt that Items shared include rice of different sizes, Noddles, to mention but a few. The beneficiaries of the kindness of the NURTW boss was full of praises and prayers for the philanthropist.

It should be recalled that few days ago when Mc Olumo kicked-off the rehabilitation of Boladade street in Oshodi, he pledges to assist the people to the best of his financial ability. The distribution of these food items is yet another testimony of the magnanimity of the NURTW boss.

He enjoined the people to maintain the highest level of hygiene by constantly washing their hands, use hand sanitizer (if they can afford it), if not, they should wash their hands thoroughly and frequently. He also urged them to stay indoor pending when this period will be over to prevent the spread of the virus.

Yuletide: Lagos NURTW Boss, MC- OluOmo Advises commercial drivers

The Chairman of the union in the state, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya Mc-oluomo in a yuletide message to drivers in Lagos State said the vehicles must be roadworthy and ensure that they obtain necessary documents from appropriate authorities to prevent  acts capable of delaying their journey.

Alhaji Akinsanya Mc-oluomo implored drivers to use their seat belt at all times and refrain from drinking alcohol and other dangerous substances while driving.

He said the warning become imperative to prevent accidents and reduce road crashes to zero level during the yuletide and new year celebration.

Alhaji Akinsanya Mc-oluomo cautioned drivers against over speeding and over loading, saying commercial drivers must obey the traffic rules and carrying their driver’s license and other vehicle documents along with them.

 He said NURTW, in Lagos State would continue to collaborate with the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority LASMA, and other relevant authorities to ensure that drivers comply with traffic rules and regulations.

NURTW Chairman said the union would continue to educate and train drivers on safe driving and customers relationship.

Alhaji Akinsanya Mc-oluomo advised motorists and travelers to desist from boarding vehicles on road sides, pointed out that all designated motorparks in the state have made enough vehicles available for them to enjoy affordable, comfortable, stress free and hitch free journey.

WHY LAGOS ASSEMBLY SUSPENDED IFAKO-IJAIYE COUNCIL BOSS, OKE

In a bid to curb corruption in Lagos, the State House of Assembly on Friday suspended Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye local government, Oloruntoba Oke, over misappropriation.

The Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, announced the suspension after the committee set up to investigate alleged misappropriation of N350 million loan received by the council.

Obasa has directed that the Vice Chairman of the council take over the affairs of the council to avoid vacuum till further notice.

According to him, the fate melted to Oke will serve as a deterrent to other council chairmen who have turned themselves to Lords in their various councils and flout government policies at will.

Oke’s suspension followed a petition received by the House from Councillors in the local government, accusing him of highhandedness and failure to utilise the loan as earlier stipulated.

It would be recalled that the House set up a committee to investigate the allegations and came out with a report that further indicted the chairman.

M.C OLU-OMO IS NOT DEAD

The operatives of the Lagos State Task Force wish to dispell the rumour being  circulating round the State particularly on social media that Mr. Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya  (a.k.a MC OLU-OMO) is dead.

This is to state unequivocally that Mr. Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya (a.k.a M.C Olu-omo) is not dead as been circulated but still responding to medical treatment at hospital.

For any avoidance of doubt members of his family could be contacted for further information.

The Agency therefore warned miscreants and hoodlums who might want use this opportunity to forment  any trouble to immediately desist as anybody caught disturbing peace of innocent members of the public would be seriously dealt with.

Parents and guardians are hereby enjoined to be vigilant about activities of their wards as both the Lagos State Police Command and the operatives of the Lagos State Task Force are on ground patrolling.
