The Executive Chairman of Orile Agege Local Council Development Area, Hon. Johnson Babatunde Sunday has charged Agege Community Media Practitioners Association (AGCMAP) to monitor the proposed sale of subsidized food items to the residents.
Babatunde made the call while meeting with the Journalists at the LCDA’s Secretariat.
He noted that the idea of engaging media practitioners is for transparency and credible reportage.
The Council boss stated that the concept of subsidizing food items is aimed at bringing succour to the residents during this harsh economy after removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government.
Babatunde further stated that the beneficiaries from over 10,000 households will have the privilege to buy each food item at 50-60 percent discount rate.
The food items include Rice, Beans, Yam and Garri.
The Chairman later disclosed that over 60 locations have been mapped out for the simultaneous exercise.
Meanwhile, Hon Johnson Babatunde commended the Media Practitioners for their effective ways of disseminating information across all six wards of the local government.
While speaking, the Chairman, Agege Community Media Practitioners, Mr Oloyede Sunday Kolawole appreciated the Council boss on-behalf of his members for engaging the community Media Practitioners to serve as watchdogs during the sales of the subsidized food items to residents.
The community Media present include; Agege TV, Hotnews Naija, AgegePulse Magazine, Grassroots Times, Political Platform, Orile Agege media, Awarawa TV, Agege parrot and Agege Community Radio.
