Agege LGA in collaboration with Inspire Lagos Food Market has offered over 2,500 residents with 50% Reduction on Food Items in Agege.

Speaking at the opening of the programme yesterday at Agege Stadium, the Acting Chairman Agege LG Alhaji Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa stated that, the Administration is centered on people's oriented policy and infrastructure that would bring food to the table of every residents of this community. "As economic hardship continues to strain households across Nigeria, this 50% Subsidy on Food Items are emerging as crucial lifelines for vulnerable populations. With more support from the government and private sector, such programs could play a pivotal role in mitigating food insecurity and ensuring that more Nigerians can afford basic necessities.
"Through this initiative, thousands of Agege residents can access staple foods such as rice, beans, and other essentials at half price.
With the high turnout, we are going back to the drawing board to see how we can sustain this effort, probably quarterly, In the future, we may source more affordable food supplies from the northern part of the country to provide long-term relief.”
It's obvious, "There is hunger in the land, and we must admit that. Whatever measures are necessary, we will critically evaluate them and ensure they benefit the good people of Agege Community,”
Apart from this, in the LG, we are guided by the vision of a community-focused initiative, and whenever we see opportunity as a leader we embrace. When the idea came to partner with Inspire, we accepted , you can see the people are happy. The food market provided not just sustenance, but also a sense of community and created hope for residents.
“We recognized the urgent need to care for everyone in the local government area, through this initiative brought by Inspire Lagos Food Market and they are extending beyond Agege, Many residents struggled to put food on the table, and the local government understood that swift action was necessary. This initiative was not just about numbers or policies; it was about people, families, children, and the elderly". Obasa concluded.
Beneficiaries in numbers described the initiative as timely and lifesaving, particularly for families grappling with the effect of rising cost of living.
