Education : Agege, Alimosho, Ikorodu Get New Education Secretaries

The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), under the leadership of its Executive Chairman, Dr. Hakeem Shittu, has approved the appointment of three (3) Education Secretaries in Agege, Ikorodu and Kosofe Local Government Education Authorities to further strengthen the effective implementation of education policies at the grassroots level. 



The appointments were ratified at the Second Statutory Board Meeting of the Board in the year, held at the LASUBEB Headquarters.


Speaking on the development, Dr. Shittu described the appointments as a strategic move aimed at reinforcing administrative efficiency, enhancing school supervision, and ensuring that government policies are translated into measurable outcomes across the Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs). 




He emphasized that strong leadership at the grassroots is critical to delivering quality basic education driven by technology in line with the third pillar of the State Government's T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda.


One of the newly appointed Education Secretaries, Mr. Taiwo Odumbo, Education Secretary, Ikorodu LGEA, while highlighting the expected roles of the appointees, stated that as the eyes of the Board at the grassroots, Education Secretaries are expected to provide professional leadership, coordinate educational activities, and ensure strict compliance with approved standards and guidelines in public primary schools across the state.


The appointments take immediate effect.


Appointees are: Ikorodu; Mr. Taiwo Odumbo Abiodun, Alimosho; Dr. Aminat Olawunmi Ige and Agege; Mrs. Janat Bashorun-Olokodana.

The Executive Chairman of Orile Agege LCDA, Hon. Abiodun Idowu has reaffirmed his commitment to quality learning environment in all public schools in Orile Agege.




Akinola made this statement at the unveiling of over 6,000 school furniture for public schools pupils and teachers to enhance their learning, teaching mentality held yesterday at St. Peters Primary School in Orile Agege LCDA.

Speaking at the event, Akinola said , "Today marks a special moment for education and in delivering dividends of democracy in Orile-Agege LCDA.



"We are officially flagging off the distribution of 6,000 desks and chairs to all public primary schools within our LCDA.

"We are also distributing writing materials to all our public junior secondary schools,having done same to our public primary school last year

"This intervention is part of our Administration’s commitment at  providing good learning environment and comfortability to our pupils. As we all know,learning is very important and a child learns better when seated properly, and a student performs better when basic learning materials are available.



"No child should be forced to sit on the floor to learn, and no student should be discouraged because of lack of writing materials.

"Education remains one of our top priorities,as a government. We believe that when we invest in our children, we are investing in the future of Orile-Agege,thereby building a very resilient,reliable and responsible generation.

"This distribution is part of our commitment to create a better learning environment and to support our teachers and students to do their best.



"I want to assure our people that this administration will continue to support education at all levels. We will not relent in our efforts to improve school infrastructure and provide the necessary tools for effective teaching and learning.

"I sincerely thank our education authorities, school administrators, teachers, and all those who are contributing to better the lots of our pupils and students.

"We will continue to provide basic materials and other amenities and facilities that aids your productivity and enhance service delivery.

He urged school pupils and teachers to ensure that these items are properly used and maintained accordingly.

School Headteachers in their thank you messages, said  Hon. Akinola has demostrated his love for quality education and commitment to pupils,  teachers quality teaching environment since inception of his administration.






Last year, all 26 public primary schools in Orile Agege received Exercise books and learning material as back to School Initiative  to aid their studies, noting that the investments has really improve learning and teaching activities in schools.

Hon. Wale Fayemi - Vice Chairman of Orile-Agege LCDA, HRM. Oba, Kamila Ambaliu - Alaigege of Orile-Agege, Elder. Safari Adaranijo - Apex Leader, Hon. Omotunde Abdul-Kareem Afolabi - Leader of the House, Hon. Balogun Ajibade,  Deputy Leader of the House  were all present at the event.

Others include, All six Councilors representing the Wards in Orile-Agege, Heads of Departments (HoDs) across the LCDA, Parents, Teacher's, and student representatives from various schools, traditional rulers, political leaders, and community stakeholders
