We'Re Ripe For Upgrade To A-Day- Model School, Lagos School Principal Appeals To Govt ...As School Rewards 2023/24 WASSCE Outstanding Students, Others

The Principal, Government Senior College, Agege and Award winning School Administrator, Mrs. Bola Alamu, has appealed to the Ministry of Basic & Secondary Education, and the Governor of the State, HE. Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the upgrade of the school into a day model college. 



Alamu stated this recently during her welcome address at the Y2023/24 Prize Giving Day for outstandings students at the School Hall in Agege.



"We have been agitating this for five years now. We have worked tirelessly to meet the expected standards and requirements and we are confident that we have what it takes to make this upgrade a reality.

"We are smart school with State-of-art facilities that are regularly evaluated and well-maintained with robust curriculum that prepares our students for success in academics and beyond.

"Our school environment is serene, inclusive, supportive and our teachers are highly qualified, dedicated and passionate about teaching.

Our students consistently excel in external examinations and competitions.

"We will continue to campaign for this upgrade and we are confident that our efforts will yield positive results soon". Alamu asserted.















Speaking at the event, Theme: Cultivating the Culture of Discipline:  Academic Excellence and beyond 

Topic: Discipline and Academic Excellence: Success Story.

Guest Speakers, Dr. Mrs. Olufumilola Sokenu, Lagos ANCOPSS President, Mr. Olushola Masheyi in a separate presentation, analysed the importance of Discipline in achieving an academic goal.

"Discipline helps you to minimizing distractions, allowing you to focus solely on your academic tasks. Whether it's turning off your phone or setting up a quiet study space, this level of focus enhances productivity and retention.

"Managing your time, prioritising, and building reading culture can never be achieved without proper discipline.

"Discipline is a vehicle that will pilot you to your desired academic goal, it helps create and stick to a study schedule. By allocating specific time blocks for study, rest, and other activities, you ensure that you're staying productive while avoiding procrastination.


During the Award presentation, Best Overall Students in WASSCE are
Ayorinde Wasilat from Science rewarded with Laptop, cash prize and Scholarship from Odunsi Memorial Scholarship Award, Akinwunmi Patience, Science and Jude Miracle were also rewarded with Laptops and cash gifts.

Others best outstanding students at the WASSCE were Wilson Faith, Awoleye Fiyinfoluwa, Nmeri Destiny, Tirimisiyu Damola, Olaiya Aisha.

In SS1-3 Overall best students, Ojeniyi Daniella, Ossai Adaora, Anwrua Zainab,  Amusa Rofiat, Babalola Benita, Olawunmi Oluwashinaayomi and numbers of outstanding students in various departments were also rewarded with cash prizes and gifts.

It was learnt that the event was proudly sponsored by 1980Set of the School Alumnae, as President Old Student Association, Mrs. Roseline Onalaja said this is one of the activities of giving back to the school that made them.

Present at the former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Bose Adelaja, Ologba of Ogbaland, HRM, Oba Abdullateef Oladimeji Egbeyemi, Members of GSC 1980Set, and other noted Stakeholders in the Education District 1.
