AgegePulse Magazine

Lagos State Government says it's set to destroy shanties in and around Pipelines in Abule Egba area following an early morning fire outbreak in that axis.

The fire was caused by pipeline vandals who came to the area to scoop PMS.

December twenty-six 2018 will be exactly twelve years when the last fire outbreak that claimed many lives in Abule Egba Area happened.

Many residents scout for safety as some sustained some degree of injury.

The perpetrators of this act use containers to cover pipelines they use in scooping PMS to distract the attention of residents who only carry out their activities in the day time.

Inside each container is a six feet hole dung to drain PMS illegally into their trucks at night.

Some residents are now clamouring for the removal of all shanties, sand sellers and containers placed on pipeline along that route, alleging that community leaders are also involved.

The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Government on Civic Engagement, Mr. Benjamin Olabinjo stated that the government will remove all shanties from that area to stop illegal activities of pipeline vandals.

Speaking on the development, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu has called for calm among residents, he explained that the team came in early with the help of the fire service who has done a good job.

The council Chairman Ojokoro Lcda, Hon Hammed Idowu D Tijani noted that the council will take appropriate action and send its report to the state government for prompt execution.

On security, the RRS Commander for Lagos State, Mr. Tunji Disu said all security agencies are on ground to secure lives and property and to carry out thorough investigation

Many vehicles at car lots and buildings were razed down during the inferno, many residents were seen wailing as some slept outside on mattresses.
