Breaking News: Outrage, How Agege Man Was Scammed of ₦34,000 in Ikeja Computer Village, Gets Paper Wrap Instead of Phone

A disturbing case of fraud has once again highlighted the dangers of doing business at Ikeja Computer Village, Lagos’ biggest mobile phone market.

In a video obtained by Lagos Reporters, a man who reportedly came from the Agege area to purchase a phone for ₦34,000 was left devastated after realizing he had been scammed. Instead of the gadget he paid for, the seller cleverly swapped his money for a bundle of papers containing just one thousand naira.

The shocking incident, which played out in broad daylight, has reignited public anger over the notorious activities of fraudsters who have operated in Ikeja for more than two decades, despite repeated police crackdowns.

Residents and victims say Computer Village has long been a hub for such scams, with unsuspecting buyers often tricked, duped, or even robbed in what many describe as “organized fraud.”

Just recently, Lagos Reporters listed 18 dangerous zones across Lagos State, with Ikeja featuring prominently. The report warned residents and visitors to shine their eyes and remain vigilant while in the area or any other part of Lagos where hoodlums, scammers, and petty thieves operate freely.

The latest case has sparked renewed calls for security agencies and the Lagos State Government to take decisive action to protect innocent buyers and restore confidence in the state’s biggest technology hub.

AgegePulse will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as events unfold.
