Imbibe Christ's Spirit Of Love, Tolerance, Sacrifice, Obasa Urges Nigerians

Agege Pulse Magazine

Nigerians have been advised to imbibe the spirit of love, tolerance and sacrifice as preached and put into practice by Jesus Christ during his life time.

Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa gave the charge in his Christmas message to Lagosians and Nigerians at large, signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Musbau Rasak.

Obasa said Nigeria will continue to achieve growth, development and economic revival if the people continue to live in peace, tolerate one another and imbibe the spirit of personal sacrifice for the benefit of their brothers and sisters.

"Jesus Christ lived a life of love, tolerance and engaging in personal sacrifice for others to thrive. If we can take after him in these three special attributes, this country will continue to witness development, growth and economic revival," Rt. Hon. Obasa said.

According to him, while government at all levels battle to contain the various challenges facing the country, the citizens should strive to live in peace, tolerate each other and sarifice for one another to provide the enabling environment for government to serve them optimally.

"We should eschew violence and desist from any action or utterances that can cause chaos and confusion or outright breakdown of law and order in the country.

"We should always be security conscious all the time and assist security agencies in fighting crimes by being vigilant at all times, reporting any suspicious individual or action to the appropriate security agency on time," the Lagos Assembly Speaker said.

Rt. Hon. Obasa commended Nigerians for their perseverance and continued support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration at both federal and state levels, assuring that the government will not relent in putting in place measures and programmes that will enhance their standard of living and also improve their welfare.

"Like Oliver Twist, we will continue to seek for your support and prayers. I wish you all a happy Christmas celebration," Rt. Hon. Obasa said.

Eid -el- Kabir: Ambode urges Muslims to imbibe values of sacrifice, love, unity

AgegePulse Exclusive:

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Thursday called on Muslims in Nigeria to imbibe the values of sacrifice, love and continue to foster unity as they join their counterparts worldwide to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival.

In his Sallah message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Habib Aruna, Governor Ambode said the period of the celebration was a clarion call for Nigerians to imbibe the lessons of the season such as selfless service to God and humanity, sacrifice and sincere commitment to righteous conducts in their private and public life.

He explained that the significance of the season should be beyond the festivities, adding that as Muslims prepare to offer animal sacrifice in the prescribed days of the festival, the real essence was not in the meat or the blood of the animal but to encourage piety, self-discipline and sacrifice.

Governor Ambode therefore called on all Nigerians to exhibit these values for the good of the country and shun any act capable of heating up the polity or causing distrust among various ethnic groups in the country.

“As we celebrate this auspicious occasion, let us renew our faith in our nation and implore the Almighty God to restore to us those values that place high premium on human life, love of neighbour and sharing even as we ventilate our faith in the unity of our dear country”, the Governor said.

“This period requires more patience, fortitude, tolerance, endurance, patriotism and a greater willingness to make personal sacrifices for the good of all,” he said.

The Governor also thanked Lagosians for supporting his administration, assuring that the Government would continue to do its best to serve the people and promote fairness and mutual tolerance among the populace, irrespective of backgrounds.

While wishing all Lagosians, especially adherents of the Islamic faith a happy Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Governor Ambode enjoined Nigerians in other parts of the country to continue to be their brothers’ keeper.
