LASEMA Curtails Ipaja Ayobo Fire Outbreak
AgegePulse Magazine
LASEMA Response Team has successfully put out the raging fire that broke out at 12, God first Avenue, Ipaja Ayobo in a operation that lasted for a period of time.
The fire outbreak which was attributed to power surge that did not record any injuries, nor claim any lives, was extinguished before it could engulf the affected room completely or other parts of the burning building.
AgegePulse gathered that the fire outbreak at 12, God First Avenue, Ipaja Ayobo by the LASEMA Response Team that explained events at the incident site states that;
"On getting to the scene of the incident, it was discovered that a two storey building duplex at the above mentioned address was engulfed by fire.
"Further investigation gathered at the scene of the incident revealed that the cause of fire was as a result of high voltage.
"The fire was cutailed and completely put out before it excallated to other parts of the building.
"No life was lost, nor injuries recorded, the only place affected by the fire in the two storey building, was the visitor's bedroom".
Comenting on the development, DG/CEO of LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu said since observation of the worrisome fact that electrical fires had been attributed to power surge especially when restored after outages, LASEMA had inculcated precaution against electrical fires as a core aspect of it's public advocacy programmes.
Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu stated that the Agency during all it's public enlightenment campaigns had always insisted that all domestic appliances such as air-conditioners and other 15 amps appliances not in use should be switched off, and unplugged from the suckets.
"With these simple precautionary measures, electrical fires due to restoration of power from public electricity supply after outages would be brought to the barest minimum, if not totally curtailed".
He surmised that every hand should be on deck in the prevention of emergencies in our homes, offices and various other places. This he said was due to the fact that "Emergency/Disaster Management, was everyones Business".
