Egunjobi Embarks on Free Distribution of Face Masks in Agege

Following the Lagos State government directives on compulsory enforcement of use of face mask effective next week, as part of preventive measures to combat the pandemic corona virus disease in Lagos.

Agege local government under the leadership of of Alhaji Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi has embarked on free distribution of Face masks in Agege.


AgegePulse learnt that the face masks were produced by Agege Local Government Vocational Training Centre of Education Department.

Speaking during the visit to Area G, Command, the Director of Education, Agege Local government, Mr. Clement Abimbola said that "the council chairman, Egunjobi  has directed us to produce over 10,000 Pieces of washable face masks to be distributed freely to Agege residents to complement the efforts of the State government in producing protective mass face masks for Lagosians".


Receiving  the face masks on behalf of Area Commander, Area G, ACP, Ibrahim Zungura,  the CO, Jonathan Egwami appreciate the council chairman for extending generosity and protect guild in curbing the spread of Covid 19 to Nigeria Police Force, Area G, Command, Lagos State.

Chief Security Officer of Agege Local Government, Alhaji Babatunde Atiku, Asst. Director Mr. Quadri Tajudeen,  Mr. Sefiu Esan, Mr. Fafuluyi Olugbenga amongst others were all present at the presentation.

Coronavirus: Egunjobi embarks on street-to-street sensitisation, visits Sarkin Hausawan, Mosque

Executive Chairman of Agege local government, Alh Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi (JP), on Wednesday continued the ongoing sensitisation of the people of the area on coronavirus by the council with a street-to-street education.

Immediately Nigeria recorded her first case of the ravaging virus, the council hit the ground running with series of sensitisation programmes with the first leg held at the main market and graced by stakeholders from community, and faith based organisation leaders, to traders.



The council's sponsored an advertisement in which it appealed to residents to abide by orders issued by the state government in the fight against  the pandemic was also aired on popular Yoruba newspaper review programme, Koko Inu-iwe Irohin, on Bond FM for days.

On Wednesday, Egunjobi took to the streets in Agege in order to bring the message home and monitor residents' compliance with the directives of the state government on precautionary measures to curb the spread.

The Council boss went around preaching personal hygiene and environmental sanitation including social distancing.

He urged people to wash their hands with soaps most times even as he generously distributed hand sanitizers.

Egunjobi however expressed his displeasure at the level of public compliance with government directives, especially on social distancing and hygiene.

Among the places he visited were the palace of Sarkin Hausawas and a mosque belonging to Hausa community at Moricas where he met with Sarkin Hausawan, HRM Musa Muhammed, and the Imam respectively.

Agege Embarks On Fumigation, Deratization of Markets

In the effort to curb the outbreak of pandemic disease called corona virus (Covid-19), the Environmental Services department of Agege Local Government has embarked on fumigation and deratization of Manhood Abiola Market, Otubu, and other markets in Agege.

Recall, the executive chairman of Agege, Alhaji Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi recently flagged off a sensitization campaign held at Agege Main Market to educate residents on how to curb and prevent Lassa Fever and Corona Virus at large.

Speaking, Director Environmental Services, Agege, San. Akolawole Ajanaku said the Fumigation, Deratization of Agege Markets is imperative in protecting the health of residents, and that the government would do everything possible to ensure hygiene in markets across the local government.

"Today, we are starting with Moshood Abiola Market and next week we will be at another market for the same reason".

"It is very important that we should all be aware that as long as we are eating clean and healthy vegetables and fruits, we would be able to increase our immunity so that we will be strong to fight the virus".
Ajanaku urged residents, market women and men to imbibe the habit of regular hand washing with soap and water as well as lots of fruits intake to build immunity system against diseases.

Earlier, the health officers held health talk on Corona Virus Covid-19, and Lassa Fever while demonstrating on how to have a proper handwashing and other preventive measures against diseases.

Infrastructure: Egunjobi Embarks On Rehabilitation of Dilapidated Ijaye Road Opposite Agege LG Secretariat.

After several months of calls from residents and visitors who ply the dilapidated Ijaye Road daily, the Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government Area, Alhaji Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi has decided to bring succour to the people by fixing the damaged portions of the busy road. 

You recall that Egunjobi in a chat with Agegepulse Magazine after the APC rally in the LG last week, revealed that the Ijaye Road is under the jurisdiction of the Lagos State government being a Trunk-A road. 



He stressed that he had written several letters to the ministry of works to call its attention to the plight of people plying the road under serious inconvenient conditions daily but no response from the ministry.

However, the young LG boss and his team have taken it upon the themselves  to sort the road that has been given the Agege secretariat bad reputation for some months now.

Speaking with Agegepulse today, Egunjobi said; "As a responsible and responsive government, we cannot continue to waiting for State Government to fix this road for us."

"The road is important to us and other motorists because it is one of the alternative routes for the ongoing construction of Pen Cinema flyover bridge."

"APC government is one government from the national  to the state and local government level, hence cooperation is needed to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people and that is why we have decided to proffer solution to the niggling inconvenience that the dilapidated road is causing our people and visitors." 

"On this note, we will like to inform the general public that Agege Local Government is currently rehabilitating Ogba-Ijaiye Road. The work, which commenced yesterday (Thursday), will be completed next week. 

As a result of the on-going rehabilitation, the road is partially closed to traffic and we urge motorists to use alternative routes, namely Shobowale Street, Oshindehin Street, and Oshugboye Street, all off Akilo road.    

“We deeply regret any inconvenience this might cause the road users.” Egunjobi concluded.
