The Lagos State Joint Campus Committee (JCC) of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has made the Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government, Alhaji Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi its Patron at a colourful investiture ceremony.
The event, which was held alongside the association’s inauguration of its new Exco took place on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Lagos State University (LASU) campus.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were: the Vice-chairman of the Council, Prince Abiodun Ogunji, who represented the recipient, and LASU’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Olumuyiwa Noah, who delivered a lecture about monetization of student unionism in contemporary times.
Also speaking, the now-immediate past Chairman of the JCC, Comrade Samson Moses, in his address, said Egunjobi, who is Director, Directorate for CSOs, NGOs, & Students of Babajide Sanwoolu Campaign Organisation, was deserving of the honour conferred on him, adding that the council chief has been supporting the State student body in no small way.
In his own remark, the newly sworn-in NANS JCC Chairman, Comrade Busari Abdulqowiyu, pleaded to Egunjobi not to abandon the association at this juncture but continue to provide financial and sundry supports to it.
Comrade Busari reiterated that the entire Lagos State Students were solidly behind the candidacy of the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
In the acceptance speech delivered on behalf of the Patron, Prince Abiodun Ogunji praised the students for deeming his boss worthy of the honour. He advised them to remain united and be committed to selfless service. Prince Ogunji urged the students to rally supports for Sanwo-Olu’s candidature and ensure that the APC candidate wins by a landslide.

NANS Honours Agege SLG, Hon. Gbenga Abiola
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has conferred an award of recognition on ex-Agege Council boss and current Secretary to Agege Local Government, Hon. Gbenga Abiola.
According to NANS, Abiola, who has been an inspiration and role model for Nigerian teeming youth with his advocacy for youth development, was awarded based on his contributions and impacts towards the growth and development of students in Nigeria.
Recall, Gbenga Abiola also played a vital role in the passage of the NotTooYoungToRun Bill, a bill that will allow young Nigerians of great and fresh ideas to run for political office
Those who know Gbenga say "Vision and Impact" has always been mantra for the youngest Council boss in Nigeria.
