...Reiterates Commitment on Infrastructural Development

AgegePulse Magazine

In a bid to increase and improve Agege Local Government council's Internally Generated Revenue, the Executive Chairman of Agege, Alhaji Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi (JP), yesterday met with the leadership of Aluminum Profile Glass Accessories Retailers Association (APGAR), at their Secretariat in Dopemu, Agege.

Speaking at the meeting, Egunjobi charged the traders to ensure adequate and prompt payment of their levies to the council.  He emphatically stated that the revenue generated would enable the council to meet up with the needs of the council.

The leadership of the association led by Alhaji Salaam aka BOAKAZ, among other members appreciated the council boss gesture to visit the market to have first hand information about the market. While pledging their support to the council, they promised to always pay the levies accrued to them as at when due.

The traders also requested that, the council should avail them more infrastructure that would create an enabling environment for their business to thrive.

Egunjobi in response reiterated that the council could always do more if there is an increase and improvement in the Council's internally generated revenue. Assuring them that, "the council is committed to providing necessary infrastructure for business to thrive in this community and to do more to the entire Agege Local Government Area". Egunjobi concluded.

Mr. Obianeri Mac-Fedo (BOT Chairman), other executive members of the association; Alhaji Tunde Borokini (Council Consultant to the market), including aides to the Executive Chairman were all present at the meeting.

Pen Cinema Flyover: Lagos begins removal of structures on Right Of Way

...Property owners to submit  documents for payment of compensation - Tpl. Abiola Anifowoshe

The Lagos State Government on Monday began the removal of structures on the right of way to pave way for the ongoing construction of the Pen Cinema flyover in Agege local government area as well as other major network of roads in the State.

In a statement by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tpl. Abiola Anifowoshe said the Government had in recent time held stakeholders’ meetings with owners of properties that had to give way for the construction of the affected areas and had given assurance of adequate compensation.

According to Anifowoshe, “Before we remove any structure in Lagos State, the State Government would first hold Stakeholders’ meeting with the affected property owners within their domain to obtain their buy-in and commitment towards the projects.

“The Government has held meetings in all these locations and during these meetings allayed Stakeholders’ fears and assured them that the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode would not remove any structure without paying due process”.

Anifowoshe said that officials of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development officials had marked all identified structures that fall within the proposed Right of Way in these locations and have served all affected structures with necessary notices.

“We are removing these encumbrances to pave way for the infrastructural upgrade for the socio-economic growth of the State.

The Commissioner said, “I urged all affected property owners to submit the following documents for the ease of processing the payment of compensation by the State Government.

The documents include: Certified Registered Title Documents of Properties within the said Right of Way, Approved Planning Permit for the affected Buildings, and other relevant documents”.

Anifowoshe said the Government had also embarked upon removal of structures in Agric Isawo Road as well as Igbe/Igbogbo/Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road in Ikorodu Local Government Area.

He said the infrastructural upgrade and expansion of the major and adjoining roads was in fulfillment of the promise by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to transform the State into a safe, functional and efficient commercial hub in Africa.

He said “We use this opportunity to appeal to all affected property owners to cooperate with the Lagos State Government for the socio-economic development of their areas and Lagos State as a whole.

According to him, the road rehabilitation which is geared towards complementing Government’s efforts to ease and ameliorate traffic congestion and gridlock prevalent in these areas are in the overriding public interest of Lagosians.

Agegepulse Magazine

Tuesday 17th, 2017 marked a new beginning in the history of Agege Local Government Area with the nomination and confirmation of former house leader Hon. Rasheed Osanyinpeju as Chairman, Revenue Committee of the council.

The confirmation of Hon. Osanyinpeju was regarded as smooth and friendly due to his personality and experience which were obvious to majority of the house members.

In a brief chat with AgegePulse, Hon. Osanyipeju revealed that his first move would be to key into the vision of the Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government, Hon. Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi to bring dividends of democracy to the people of Agege.

He stressed that his team will work round the clock to sustain the rapid growth in Agege's Internally Generated Revenue, IGR from 10% to about 80% over the years.

However, Hon. Rasheed reveal that his team will reduce the act of illegal collection of revenue, block loopholes and open Agege LG to small, medium and micro businesses in order to improve on the previous recorded achievements, adding that the committee would go on electronic payment to ease revenue collection when necessary.

He urged citizens to oblige their civic responsibility through constant payment of taxes and other levies for effective running of government.

Hon. Rasheed Osanyipeju is a politician, businessman and a farmer. He was a former Agege House leader during the Hon. Enoch Ajibosho led administration between (1999-2002)

Speaking to AgegePulse after the confirmation, Leader of the House, Hon. Kola Anigbajumo commended the Executive for the choice of Hon. Osanyipeju as Chairman of Revenue committee.

"This is a welcome development because we now have round peg in a round hole. The wealth of experience deposited in him is unrivalled when it comes to political, social and economical understanding of our local government." Anigbajumo asserted.

Moreover, Hon. Anigbajumo and other members of the house used the medium to implore the Executive on the need for quick preparation of an all-encompassing 2018 budget that would cater for all and sundry in the Local Government.
