Fear In Orile-Agege As Awawa Boys Lay Siege On Residents, Repelled By Lagos Taskforce

AgegePulse Magazine

Residents of Agbotikuyo, Orile-Agege and environ woke up Monday morning to the siege of the dreaded Awawa Boys as they went around brandishing dangerous weapons and vandalizing lock up shops and anything in sight.

Responding to a distress call as always, task force operatives under the orders of the chairman, CSP SAHEED OLAYINKA EGBEYEMI, stormed the scene and promptly repelled and and dislodged the miscreants, as they hurriedly scampered to oblivion.

An eye witness who craved anonymity, confirmed that, the hoodlums in their usual way, were out to disposses people of their valuables but were undone by the swift response of the task force men who we should be thanking for still standing in the wake of the current lull in the police occasioned by the EndSars effects on the force.

We are in such a critical period now as the year ends and we are in dire need of readymade, proactive responses and alertness as exemplified by the task force men here today, to suppress dare devil and criminal minded persons who are oiling their criminal machinery for the yuletide

We pay N100 daily to sleep under Oshodi Bridge – miscreants

 By Evelyn Usman

One of the 62 miscreants arrested during a raid at Oshodi and its environs by the Lagos State Task Force, weekend, Gani Yusuf, 35, disclosed that they paid N100 everyday to their ring leader for a space to sleep under the Oshodi Bridge.

Miscreants Another, Gbenga Ololade, 38, who came from Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, said he had been sleeping under Oshodi Bridge for three years, saying he was initiated into cultism with a particular tattoo on his face by their group leader, under the bridge.

The raid, according to Chairman of the Task Force, CSP Yinka Egbeyemi, was part of ongoing efforts to flush out miscreants and other criminal elements out of Oshodi in particular and the state in general, adding that it was done on the directive of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, who expressed concern over the spate of criminal activities in some parts of the state.

He said: “Many of them have different tattoos on their arms indicating they belong to a particular sect or cult. Others chain smokers among them rob residents and pedestrians of their valuables such as phones, wallets and jewelleries, early morning and late at night.” The Chairman added that the suspects were screened, during which the minors, who were between 12 and 17 years, were referred to the juvenile homes for rehabilitation.

Informing that the suspects had been charged to court on the directive of Edgal, Egbeyemi hinted that after the completion of all ongoing projects by Lagos State government around Oshodi, there would no longer be any hideout for criminals to unleash terror on innocent members of the public again.
