Education: Adejare Set To Unveil Newly Constructed 12 Blocks of Classrooms In Agege Federal Constituency | AgegePulse Magazine

By Ayodele Ifasakin

“The foundation of every state is the education in their young minds” —Diogenes

construction of blocks of classrooms

It is known that education is crucial for every child as they grow, especially as it concerns youngsters who are not so privileged in the pursuit of education and other life skills which gives them access to opportunities. No child should be denied the access to qualitative and premium education on the basis of the financial limitations of their parents or guardian. This is the orientation upon which the voice of the good people of Agege Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Samuel Babatunde Adejare Mhr   built his goodwill as it concerns the education of teenagers and youths alike".

Hon. Adejare strongly believes that a major point of call for all stakeholders in Nigeria should be the right of every child to acquire knowledge in a conducive learning environment. Hence, as part of his drive to ensure that every child within his constituency enjoys access to comfortable learning, the MHR facilitated the construction of 12 blocks of modern classrooms and staff office alongside proper restroom and water system at *St. Peter Primary School, Agege*. This gesture from *Hon. Adejare*, is to compliment the efforts of the Lagos State Government in providing premium learning atmosphere and environment to every young resident of Lagos.

As the saying goes that to whom much is given, much is expected... The construction of these learning classrooms is another election promise fulfilled by *Hon. Dr. Samuel Babatunde Adejare*. He takes this as a consolidation of the mandate entrusted upon him by the good people of Agege Federal Constituency.

The MHR is passionately enthusiastic about education and will not stop at anything to ensure that every child, under his watch as voice of the people of Agege Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber, gets quality education under premium learning conditions and topnotch school environments.

"There are definitely, more to come". Adejare asserted.

Ambode launches new access road to LASUTH

... Orders contractors to complete Ayinke House in six months

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday launched the new access road connecting the premises of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja from Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way.

Speaking at the launching, Governor Ambode expressed delight at the completion of the project, saying it was designed to facilitate faster access to medical care, thereby saving lives.

He said it was a thing of joy that after about three to four decades, another access road had been created to LASUTH.

In his words: We are delighted to be here. We believe strongly that the major cornerstone for the growth of the economy of Lagos actually lies in the hands of all of you here because if we don't have a healthy state, we cannot have a productive economy and that was why we decided that we would pay greater attention to the health sector.

While commending the management of the institution, Ambode assured that his administration would not relent in implementing policies and project to scale up the health sector.

The Governor, who also used the opportunity to inspect the progress of work on the LASUTH Maternity Hospital popularly known as Ayinke House, ordered contractors handling the project to ensure completion of the project within the next six months.

Earlier, the Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, ProfessorAdewale David Oke commended Governor Ambode for his commitment to the health sector, saying several projects had been executed in the institution since the inception of the present administration.

Speaking on the launched  road, Oke said: This is a dream come true. For many years, we have had a problem with movement of patients into the hospital. Sometimes, they are in the ambulance for fifteen or twenty minutes before they can get in but this road has solved that problem.

Also speaking, Professor Babatunde Sholagbero, Provost of Lagos State University College of Medicine, said the completion of the road was a proof of a promise made and kept by the state government.

He also thanked Governor Ambode for facilitating the accreditation of Dentistry for the Institution, thereby making Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH / LASUCOM) the only state university in Nigeria that has a Bachelor of Dentistry degree.

He added: By the World Health Organisation (WHO) statistics, the accepted dentist to the patient population in the United States is 1 to 2000, but for Africa, is 1 to 150,000. So, for every dentist we produce, we will now have 150,000 Lagosians being catered for.

Aside from that, there are many other projects that the present administration has implemented in our institution and we are now a toast among other medical colleges, Solagbero said.

LASG dedicates October sanitation to vector control

The Lagos State Government has declared that the State’s Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise for the month of October will be dedicated to vector control and observed, as usual, between the hours of 7:00am to 10.00am on Saturday, 29th October, 2016.

The Commissioner for the Environment, Dr. Babatunde Adejare, who disclosed this recently, explained that the move towards vector control in the State had commenced with automated fumigation of all markets in Lagos, starting with Obalende Market, is aimed at eliminating rodents and preventing the disease they might cause.

He urged residents to turn out en-masse and participate actively in the forthcoming sanitation exercise by cleaning their homes and drains, warning that the period of environmental sanitation should not be used for any social engagement or sporting activities, but for cleaning and sanitation exercises.

Dr. Adejare noted that apart from this State organized event, daily cleaning of our environment should be an everyday affair, because environment is the superstructure on which everything rests. He appealed to residents to desist from acts that could lead to flooding, such as indiscriminate dumping of waste into drains and canals and other acts that might result in environmental degradation.

According to him, “The State Government is committed to achieving a flood-free Lagos. Citizens on their part will do well to ensure that canals and channels in their areas are cleaned at all times, in addition to the regular de-silting, dredging and maintenance of drainage channels and canals by government.”
“As we are all aware, Lagos is a coastal State that has high water table and prone to flash-floods, we must therefore imbibe positive attitude which will reduce to the barest minimum the incidence of flooding, which has so far been contained in the State” he added.

The Commissioner warned residents who still patronize cart pushers to desist from the illegal act as the coverage of the PSP Operators has been widened to effectively accommodate more residents of the State.
He reminded Lagosians that government’s zero tolerance programme to environmental infractions and nuisances was still very much on course and as such the people should refrain from degrading the environment in any form to avoid the negative consequences of environmental pollution and the full weight of the compliance measures of government.
In order to attain total compliance of the restriction order and ensure full participation of Lagosians in the sanitation exercise, Adejare implored interstate Bus Operators, the State Transport Owners and Road Transport Workers Association to comply with the restriction of vehicular movement order between 7.00am-10.00am as any vehicle caught violating this order will be dealt with appropriately, while passengers in such vehicles will also be prosecuted according to the State Environmental Sanitation Laws.

He further assured that Law Enforcement Agencies including the Nigeria Police and officials from LAWMA, LASTMA and KAI have been fully mobilized to enforce the restriction.
