AgegePulse Magazine

Tunde Bakare, Serving Overseer of Citadel Global Community Church, formerly known as Latter Rain Assembly, has donated church halls in Ogun and Lagos states as isolation centres.

In a statement issued by the church, Bakare said it was the church’s way of contributing to the fight against COVID-19 in the country.

The statement read:
We, the Citadel Global Community Church (formerly, The Latter Rain Assembly, hereinafter called the CGCC) offer our heartfelt condolences to the grieving families who have lost loved ones as a result of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. We pray that God will comfort and strengthen those left behind in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

Our community has held daily prayers across electronic channels to unite various households together in pleading for the mercies of God to triumph over judgement, and for Christ to heal the sick and shorten the scope and impact of this plague on Nigeria, and the nations of the earth.

Drawing inspiration from the parable of the Good Samaritan as told by our Lord Jesus Christ, the CGCC launched a campaign #IamMyBrothersKeeper to provide meal support to Lagosians irrespective of faith through the houses of our members. This campaign has already been launched and we encourage others to join us and do the same.

To further spread the mandate given by the Good Samaritan in the parable, the CGCC offers parts of our current Church facilities located at Plot 4 Akilo Road Ogba for the use of the Lagos State Government as an isolation Centre for the treatment of Covid-19 cases. The CGCC Medical Missions shall onboard LASG officials to ensure the best utilization of this space as an isolation centre.

We commend the Lagos State Government and well meaning individuals and corporate bodies for the spirited efforts at controlling the spread of this pandemic in Lagos and by extension in Nigeria. We pray for divine health, wisdom and energy for the leadership of Lagos State and frontline healthcare workers.

We continue to urge obedience to social distancing regulations by the people of Lagos and urge well meaning Nigerians to self organize and fund meal support initiatives to the less privileged members of our communities as part of #IamMyBrothersKeeper campaign.

May God extend mercy to Nigeria and the nations of the earth at this challenging time.

Saraki will win 2019 presidential election, cleric predicts

The founder of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has said the Senate President Bukola Saraki will win the 2019 presidential election if he grabs the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party.

He, however, warned that the 2019 election will be tougher than that of 2015.

The cleric said he saw storms that period but was quick to add that the country would still survive the period.
He warned that the raging National Assembly crisis might lead to the collapse of democracy in Nigeria if not well handled.

Ayodele spoke on Wednesday in Ikere-Ekiti at an empowerment programme he organised in memory of his late father, Elder Olalekan Ayodele, who died 15 years ago.

He donated cash and foodstuff to hundreds of widows and orphans at the event which he said was a means of giving them succour and a sense of belonging.
Ayodele also advised the Ekiti State Governor-elect, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, to listen to the people for him to succeed in his administration.

He advised the All Progressives Congress to put its house in order in Osun State to achieve victory at the September 22 governorship election.
On the National Assembly crisis, he said: “Whatever they are doing in the Senate or in government, that is their own problem.

“I have said that nobody can remove Saraki, I don’t know Saraki, I have not met Saraki and I don’t know (Godswill) Akpabio. The issue of Saraki, I am not interested because I am not a politician.

"Who is that politician that is not corrupt and who is that politician that does not steal money? Saraki is one of the anointed persons in this country. I don’t see Atiku going too far.

“I am not defending Saraki but if Saraki is removed, PDP will sink and if PDP wants to move forward and Saraki having the ticket, PDP will win.”

I join politics to address inequalities-James Agboola, Sole Admin. Orile-Agege

Hon. James Agboola appointment as the Sole Administrator of Orile Agege Local Council Development Area still appears like a mirage to many in the community, he remains the unpopular name expected to take over from the immediate past Executive Secretary of the LCDA. Surprisingly, he has spent the last 43 years of his life in Papa Ashafa area of Orile Agege even before the creation of LCDA by erstwhile Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In fact, most residents still startle at how a laundry man could be giving such appointment.
Hon. Agboola put his emergence into perspective, “My appointment is beyond anyone's imagination, it is basically God at work. I believe Governor Ambode considered those who knows the nooks and crannies of the community and understands the peoples' chemistry. I do not keep a loud profile. Up till this moment, many people still call me to confirm if I am the James Agboola announced by the governor. I have been in active Agege politics for over two decades. But I am more in the administrative section of our party.
He had primary education at Mount Zion African Church, Alaagba before proceeding to Lagos Technical College, ST. Fibers College,  Teachers College and later Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education,   After my primary school education, I could not further due to financial challenges, I started primary school at age 10. I stayed at home for some years before I went to secondary school, it was very challenging. I went to teachers college, but immediately I secured admission, they stopped automatic employment for teachers, that limited my chance of teaching after graduating from teachers college. I started visiting Abeokuta searching for greener pasture, unfortunately things were not rosy over there. I decided to come back to Lagos and finally engaged in teaching. I later got a job in the defunct Nigeria Textile Mill, Agege with a determination to work for just 5 years. On my 5th year, I tabled my resignation letter, it was not entertained by my boss because of my diligence to work. We dragged for a while before it was accepted and approved. Then, I joined my brother's business centre outfit situated at Capitol road as a supervisor. We had series of businesses such as computer business centre, laundry service & estate agent. It was there that I developed interest in Laundry service business. I have been doing the business for over two decades in Agege. Also, I joined politics along the line.
Hon. Agboola is one of the diehard fans of Lagos Assembly Speaker, Hon. Mudashir Obasa, he refers to him as his political mentor. With the primary assignment to make people feel the impact of the government, pay and reduce liabilities, conduct free, fair and credible election and to increase revenue to supplement government allocation, the soft spoken Ekiti born grassroot politician has been able to convince his proprietor to allow him and his co-sole administrators carry out pocket of projects in their respective council. “Personally I joined politics to address the obvious inequalities between political office holders and the governed. This has been what I usually advocate in the party. As a member of Hon. Obasa's team, I can assure you that we have strived to ensure people feel the impact of democracy in our community.
Now, the staff of the council, head of institutions and I have been mopping up strategies to tackle environmental issues, insecurity and empowerment. In due time, you will see outcome of our progressive plans in  Orile-Agege.
We understand Papa, Agbotikuyo, Dopemu and Kolawole amongst other areas have worst environmental challenges, we will work towards developing these areas with assistance of our governor. We invited the commissioner for Environment Dr. Babatunde Adejare for  inspection during last sanitation, we went round the streets of Igbayilola, Ijaye, Alhaja Sifawu and others, some of the drainages were blocked with refuse and we have made arrangement to evacuate those drainages.
