Some bandits in separate attacks have killed three persons, including a pilot, in two local government areas of Kaduna North and Kajuru, Kaduna State.

The pilot, Captain Abdukkarim Bala Na’Allah, said to be the eldest son of Senator Bala Na’Allah, was killed by the hoodlums in his Malali (GRA) residence in Kaduna North Local Government Area on Sunday.

Senator Na’Allah represents Kebbi South Senatorial seat in the Senate and was the Deputy Majority leader in the Eighth Senate

The 36-year old pilot who recently got married was tied and strangled at his Malali residence in Kaduna, after which his vehicle and other properties were carted away by his killers.

Special Adviser to Senator Bala Na'Allah, Garba Mohammed says the assailants gained entrance into the house through the roof.

He adds that a neighbour’s security guard noticed the gate of the deceased home opened and immediately raised alarm which led to the discovery of his body.

The slain pilot has been buried at the Unguwan Sarki cemetery according to Islamic rights.

The Kaduna State Police command is yet to react on the situation even though they were  notified and have visited the murder scene.

“Suspected Kaduna Bandits Kill Captain Abdulkarim Bala Na Allah, the first Son of Senator Bala Na’Allah, in his Malali GRA Residence Kaduna today,” said a statement trending on social media.

Meanwhile, on the Kajuru attack, it was said that the bandits invaded the Makoro Iri Village in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna States and killed two persons.

THREE persons were on Monday morning feared killed during a violent clash between commercial cyclists and policemen in Ijora, Apapa, Lagos.

Two of the victims were hit by stray bullets allegedly from the police team that attempted to disperse a riotous crowd of the operators. The third victim was a tri-cyclist alleged to be among those stoning commuters in commercial buses in protest of the ban on commercial motor and tricycles across six local government areas of the state which took effect on Saturday.



The operators engaged the policemen who moved early morning to enforce the ban placed by the state government.

They were said to have lit bonfires on the roads, pelted stones on commercial and private vehicles plying the road, including that of a policeman.

Many other people were said to have sustained injuries in the chaos while business activities were grounded for several hours.

Operators hundreds held a protest march at Ikeja and Ogba axis where they appealed to the government to reconsider the decision.

The protesters were led by members of the civil society and a pan-Yoruba youth group.


Shouting in Yoruba language, one of the protesters said: “Please help us beg Sanwo-Olu o! Does he want us to start stealing or snatching people’s bags? He did not give us any work as an alternative. Please help us beg him o!”

Although the march was peaceful, policemen were said to have fired gunshots and teargas into the air to disperse them to possibly avoid a recurrence of the Ijora incident.

According to a witness, Busayo Afolabi, people ran in different directions when the cops started shooting.

She said: “Ikeja is in shambles. These policemen are parading the streets with guns in their hand. They are shooting and throwing teargas in Ikeja. People are running.”

The ban also had its toll on commuters as many were forced to trek for long distances following their inability to afford the hike in fares introduced by commercial buses who saw a window for quick wealth.

Police spokesman Bala Elkana denied any death was recorded at the Ijora incident, adding that 24 persons were arrested.

“It is an ongoing situation. Reinforcement has been deployed and calm restored. But I do not have full details yet. Though, I do not think anyone died in the clash.

“The operators attacked innocent citizens and destroyed properties. The police cannot fold their arms in such a situation. They were dispersed. I cannot say for sure how many were arrested since it is still going on,” he said

Elkana said the police responded to a distress call that hoodlums armed with cutlasses and suspected to be commercial cyclists and thugs blocked major roads around Ijora Oloye, Amusu, Ijora 7Up, Underbridge, Sifa Junction and Gaskiya Road around 7:45am.

“The hoodlums caused major obstructions on the roads, burning tyres, looting and stealing from unsuspecting road users. Police Officers from Ijora Badia, Area B Command and Special Strike Force on Social Miscreants were promptly deployed to the scenes.

“The situation was brought under control. The obstructions were cleared for free flow of traffic. No life was lost. Twenty suspects were arrested. Investigation is ongoing. The suspects will be charged to court,” he said.

A petrol-laden tanker fell in the wee hours of Friday around Toll gate, Ota axis of Lagos-Abeokuta highway, while approaching Shoprite Store, killing yet to be identified number of people.

The tanker, DAILY POST learnt, went up in flames immediately, destroying lives, vehicles, and properties.

Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Traffic Compliance (TRACE) Corps Spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi released a video of the inferno.

Akinbiyi told DAILY POST that there were casualties but the number could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.

According to Akinbiyi, the TRACE Corps, Fire Service agents, Federal Road Safety Corps, the police, the NSCDC, Naval officers and the Army were all on ground for rescue operations.

While sympathising with those affected by the ugly incident, Akinbiyi advised motorists to avoid Toll Gate Area for now.

“Nevertheless, they can go through the Old Ota Road to link Awolowo Road down to Sango under bridge to link Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway,” he said.

Who killed Lagos?

Yes, it is the same Lagos that I’m talking about. Lagos is dead, murdered by bad leadership over the years. If you are living elsewhere and is nursing a dream about Lagos and the beautiful life, just know you are having a nightmare. The dream of a beautiful Lagos has been murdered by bad administration, selfish politicians and greedy businessmen. You don’t need to know their names but their actions speak louder than words.

Lagos is locked down. People sleep in traffic. There are no roads and where there seem to be, their bad conditions have hindered movements. The average Lagosian is a victim.  Every road is a pot hole and if you want to make a choice, it would be which pothole is deeper and how would you avoid deeper potholes. But there are no smooth roads anymore.


The problem with Lagos is the offshoot of failed promises handed down by subsequent governments at federal and state levels. The politicians say one thing and mean another.

They make promises bearing in mind that they would never execute them. They make political statements on how to fix the dilapidated port access roads, yet the nation’s business gateway suffers from the same problem.

And how do I know? I know because my office is located in the midst of the chaos; the chaos visited upon Lagos by politicians of yester-years and today who lied to Nigerians about what they planned to do for the people.

How many tank farms are located around the ports and who owns them? Now, the owners of the tank farms and other trailer-related businesses are the people that destroyed Lagos. Some are past leaders. Others are current leaders and they are bigger than Nigeria and other Nigerians.

They may be four or five; six or eight but they are selfish and care about themselves and not about others. The destiny of over 120 million

Who killed Lagos?

Nigerians are in the hands of these few people and because of them, an entire city is ruined; because of them, other businesses have been asked to go to hell; because of them, other road users have been asked to move to Siberia because the businesses of the few Nigerians located around the ports come first and these are the real owners of the roads. Others have been told they have no business living or operating around the area. We heard from the grapevine that even Nigerian Ports Authority will soon have to relocate and those in charge mean business.

Politicians past and present were consistently promising to end the protracted gridlock in Oshodi-Apapa and around the ports. The current governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu promised to end it within 60 days in office. But the truth is: the gridlocks have just matured to a new level. Sanwo-Olu has denied promising to end the gridlock in 60 days. The presidency and its task force on the gridlock have also failed. In fact, it’s as if the presidency is not being told the truth about what is going on in Apapa ports and its environs.

From all indications, it’s also obvious that Governor Sanwo-Olu does not understand the problem. As long as the tank farms and the tank-farmers are the untouchable Nigerians, that problem will never be solved. Why would any government approve so many tank-farms to be located within a small community causing thousands of containers to flood the area and the entire Lagos?

What happened to the trailer parks in Lagos and other places and why are there not enough? Why are the trailers refusing to park where they should and prefer blocking the roads? Why are they untouchable?

Ex-Defence Chief, Alex Badeh Assassinated

 Former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, has been shot dead by gunmen.

The Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, confirmed this to Channels Television on Tuesday night.

According to him, the former Defence Chief died from gunshot wounds sustained when his vehicle was attacked while he was returning from his farm along Abuja-Keffi Road.

The Air Force spokesperson also confirmed the incident in a series of tweets.

He said, “It is with a heavy heart that I regretfully announce the unfortunate demise of former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, who died today, 18 Dec 18, from gunshot wounds sustained when his vehicle was attacked while returning from his farm along Abuja-Keffi Road.”

“On behalf officers, airmen and airwomen of the Nigerian Air Force, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Abubakar, commiserates with the family of the late former Chief of Defence Staff over this irreparable loss. We pray that the Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest.”

Hairdresser stabs neighbour to death for calling her shaku-shaku

A 23-year-old hairdresser, Opeyemi Adamson, has allegedly killed her neighbour, Taiwo Olowookere, at their house in the Meiran area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that 28-year-old Taiwo lived with the suspect’s mother-in-law, who accommodated her after she separated from her husband.

Opeyemi, who lived with her husband, stayed in the same compound with the victim.

The duo were said to have nursed animosity towards each other until Friday, August 24 when things took a tragic turn.

The deceased had reportedly complained about Opeyemi’s eight-months-old baby, saying the child’s noise disturbed her.

The suspect reportedly insulted her, which led to exchange of words.

Taiwo, who reported the incident to the police before her death, said her assailant became angry after she (Taiwo) called her shaku-shaku woman (useless person), adding that she stabbed her in the neck.

She had said, “About three months ago, I had a problem with my husband. The woman I was staying with was her (Opeyemi) mother-in-law.

“On a particular day, my child was ill and I took him to a hospital. When I returned, I greeted her, but she refused to respond. That was when our misunderstanding started.

“Around 7am on August 24, I went to bath my child. While doing that, her child started making a noise. I called her that her child was disturbing me, but she abused me.

“She started cursing me and I called her shaku-shakuwoman. She asked why I would call her such a name. She said she would show me what a shaku-shakuwoman was like. She went inside and brought out a knife which she used to stab me in the neck.”

PUNCH Metro gathered that the victim reported the case at the Meiran Police Station and Opeyemi was arrested.

Taiwo was taken to a local medical centre where she was treated until her death.
