AgegePulse Magazine

The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District 1, Barrister Margaret Titilayo Solarin has called for increased attention  to technical education in Lagos Schools, saying that conscious efforts must be made, henceforth, to give technology a prime place in the education curriculum.

The TG/PS made the call recently during a quiz competition organised by Teachers of Basic Technology and Allied Subjects for students of government and private secondary schools.

Mrs. Solarin, who spoke through the District Director, Schools Administration, Mr. Oluyemi Adeshina, said that the competition was aimed towards instilling the love for technology in the minds of the students.

According to her, "In today's society, there is nothing that we can do without technology. As a matter of fact, all sectors in the society rely heavily on technology for their effectiveness, hence the need to allow these students know the importance of technology in their academic career".

She added that it was important to let students realise early enough the roles which technology plays in the society as a whole so that they can be better guided in choosing their life career.

The quiz competition, according to her, does not only provide a platform for the students to exhibit their technical knowledge but will also expose them to the viability of technology and its ability to make the world a better place.

The TG/PS specifically appreciated the State government for the concentration being paid to education and technology under its T.H.E.M.E.S agenda, noting that Lagos is on the right trajectory by allowing practical subjects in schools and also making available needed technology to support learning.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of Basic Technology and Technical Teachers' Association of Nigeria (BATTTAN), Education District 1, Mr. Oludare Ayinde Akinyode observed that there has been so much focus on quiz competitions relating to the English Language, Mathematics and Sciences over the years.

He urged the students to develop an interest in engineering, architecture and other careers that can develop the nation and bring the students at par with other professionals globally.

LASG Removes Illegal Structures Around Public Schools in Lagos

AgegePulse Magazine

Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences  (Enforcement) Unit (Taskforce), in an over-night enforcement exercise, has removed some illegal structures comprising of shanties, mechanic workshops, containarised kiosks and commercial bus garages around Government Public Schools at Mile 2, Badagry Expressway, Lagos.

Chairman of the Agency, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, who led the enforcement team disclosed that before the removal exercise owners and occupants of these illegal structures, containarised kiosks and bus garage were served a 7-day 'Removal Notice' to vacate the entire area as well as the vicinity of the schools within the stipulated period.

CSP Egbeyemi stated further that the removal exercise was sequel to numerous complaints and petitions by residents, particularly management of the Public Schools (Imoye High School and Amuwo Odofin Junior Secondary School) that criminal elements have turned the area into hideouts/spots for carrying out their nefarious activities thereby making the environment unpleasant for living or learning.

According to him "these removed illegal structures/shanties were identified for harbouring criminal elements who rob unsuspecting members of the public of their valuables and also serve as an outlet for the sales of illegal hard drugs like Tramadol, Codeine, Skunk, Weed including mixed liquor to miscreants".

"Lagos is the most populous state in Nigeria as well as its economic heartbeat. As such, the zero tolerance for all forms of crimes and criminality by the present administration would be sustained" Egbeyemi added.

He restated that owners/occupiers of these illegal business structures like mechanics, food/fruits vendors and others have turned the entire area into an eye-sore as everywhere including the surroundings of public schools, are usually littered with refuse, used tyres/metals and abandoned vehicles/trucks amongst others.

The Chairman said the Agency swung into action upon the expiration of the removal notice in order to ensure the prompt clean-up of the environment as well as clampdown on the activities of criminally minded persons that have become a source of disturbance to law abiding Lagosians, especially residents of the area.

CSP Egbeyemi, therefore, implored all owners/occupants of illegal structures and shanties around public schools across the State to immediately remove them before the exercise reach their various areas as anyone caught would be seriously dealt with in accordance with the law.

He, however, confirmed that the Agency has commenced verification exercise of the claim of those affected but with legal documentation for the payment of monetary compensation as approved by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

How 19-year-old impersonates American pilot, defrauds woman of N27m

AgegePulse Magazine

A 19-year-old secondary school leaver, Chigemezu Arikibe, has been tracked down by the police after using fake social media accounts to swindle a Cambodian woman to the tune of $75,000 (N27m at N360 to 1$).

To woo his victim identified simply as Sophanmia, Arikibe reportedly paraded himself on Facebook and Instagram as an American pilot working for a British airline.

City Round gathered that after establishing a relationship with the woman, Arikibe offered to send her expensive gift items and $500,000, for investment in real estate business in Cambodia.

The suspect reportedly told Sophanmia that he would send the parcel to her through a courier in Indonesia and asked her to send $800 for the service.

He was said to have contacted his friend in Indonesia to act as a courier agent and collect the money from his victim.

After sending the money, Arikibe came up with excuses why the parcel could not be delivered and persuaded the woman to send more money accumulating into $75,000.

It was learnt the woman alerted the Nigeria Embassy in Cambodia when she discovered that “the American pilot,” communicating with her was calling from Nigeria and not the United States.

The embassy was said to have alerted the Nigeria Police and operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team led by DCP Abba Kyari went after Arikibe.

A police source told our correspondent that the suspect was trailed to the Mbaitoli area of Imo State where he is based.

“The suspect was arrested with the SIM card and the phone he used in committing the crime and when we went through the phone, we saw chats between him and the woman.

“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to everything and he also said there was a man in Indonesia who helped him pulled out the money from a USA bank account.  He claimed to be an American and that was why he gave the woman an American bank account. The worst was that the woman went and borrowed the money from the bank,” the source stated.

Arikibe, while confessing to the crime, said he learnt Internet fraud from his friend within one week and he started on his own.

He said, “I attended Community School, in the Eziooha area of Mbaitoli and graduated in October 2018. It was Ugochukwu my friend who taught me how to do Internet fraud. I opened a fake Fakebook account with the name Frank William and on Instagram I was Patrick William.

“I uploaded the pictures of an American pilot on my fake Fakebook and Instagram pages. The pilot later discovered that I used his pictures and he started complaining. He even said he had been arrested three times by the police.

“My Facebook account was later blocked, then I focused on Instagram, where I met the client (Sophanmia). I followed her and we started chatting. I told her I am a pilot and we started discussing about life.

CORONAVIRUS: Sanwo-Olu urges Residents not to Panic, says Patient 'In Stable Condition

AgegePulse Magazine

Sanwo-Olu

…Health Workers On The Trail Of Victim’s Contacts

…Gov: How Lagos Govt Diagnosed Patient

Lagos State Government has raised its level of response to Coronavirus (COVID-19) incident, following a reported case of a patient diagnosed with the infectious viral disease in the State in the early hours of Friday. This is coming, just as the Chief Incident Commander and the State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, allayed fears of residents on spread of the virus.

The Governor also offered more information on how the patient was identified and efforts currently being made to prevent the spread of the virus.

The patient, Sanwo-Olu said, is an Ogun State-based expatriate who flew into Lagos from Milan in Italy via Istanbul, Turkey last Monday evening. The Governor said the patient, whose name was not disclosed, remained in stable condition at the bio-security facility in Yaba, Lagos Mainland, where he is being isolated.

It was gathered that the patient, although, tested positive to COVID-19 virus, is yet to show any respiratory symptoms at press time. He complained of fever and body pain, which prompted his transfer from Ogun State to Lagos for advanced medical investigation.

Sanwo-Olu said a number of persons, who had physical contact with the patient before the virus was diagnosed, are being traced, while others are currently being examined for possible symptoms.

The Governor shared these details during a first press conference held on Friday at the State House in Marina to brief the public on the matter. Top State officials at the conference included Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Gbolahan Lawal, Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Folashade Jaji and Director General of Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola.

Sanwo-Olu said there should be no cause for panic among Nigerians over the reported COVID-19 incident, stressing that measures had been set in motion by the State and Federal governments to contain the spread of the virus across the country. He particularly allayed the fear of Lagos residents, saying the two bio-security facilities in the State had the capability to contain the virus.

He said: “At 10pm on Thursday, I got a call from the Commissioner of Health, who reported possible identification of patient with coronavirus in Ogun State. Immediately, we triggered all levels of bio-security responses and containment facilities. After series of laboratory examination, the patient was confirmed to have tested positive to the virus in early hours of today (Friday) and we immediately alerted the federal authorities, including the President and everybody who needs to be aware. We are in constant touch with the company where the patient was engaged. The management and personnel of the company have been cooperative.

“Health workers and emergency officials are on the field to track all persons that had physical contacts and interaction with the patient. Our bio-security facilities have been fortified to continue any form of test and contain any other potential case. We are in constant touch with the Federal Ministry of Health to harmonise our response to the incident. For us in Lagos, we are doing anything that needs to be done. The patient is stable and every health intervention required is currently being given to him.”

On how the patient scaled through health screening at the Lagos airport without being detected, Sanwo-Olu said investigation showed the virus did not manifest in the patient at the time he passed through the airport. The incident, he said, prompted the Government to immediately trigger advanced end-to-end screening for passengers flying into Nigeria, especially from high-risk countries.

The Governor said there would not be prohibition of public gatherings and regular activities in Lagos despite the diagnosed case of COVID-19, pointing out that such measure may give rise to needless panic among the general public. He said the condition of the patient was not “highly contagious” at the moment, adding that the State would only ban outdoor gatherings in the case of escalation in person-to-person transmission of the virus.

He said: “It is only when there is a high level of escalation that the public can be panicky and this is when we realise that it is getting to person-to-person transmission. As we have said, this isolated case has been contained right from the hospital where he was first admitted and the guesthouse he slept after his arrival in Nigeria. It is when there is a person-to-person infection that we can trigger another level of isolation and curtail public events where large number of people can gather. I don’t think we have gotten to that level yet.”

Sanwo-Olu also cleared the air on why the patient was transferred to Lagos after the incident was reported in Ogun State, saying the Federal Government only established testing centres to prevent  coronavirus in States that have international airports. Lagos, the Governor said, is the only State in the Southwest that has testing centres. He said the State was also considered based on its sophisticated bio-security facilities, which were established during the outbreak of Ebola virus.

Prof. Abayomi explained how the diagnosis was carried out, following the patient’s complaint of fever and body pain. He said the patient started to show signs of illness on Wednesday afternoon, after which he was presented at the Ogun State-based firm’s hospital where investigation began.

He said: “Investigation began at the hospital after the patient gave history of his trip to Nigeria. The medical personnel at the company’s hospital kept the patient in isolation overnight and contacted us at the bio-security in Lagos for assistance. We immediately asked them to transfer the case to Lagos. The patient was brought to our high-containment in Yaba on Thursday morning.

“Immediately the patient arrived, he was put in proper isolation and appropriate tests were conducted on him. Within hours, we received signals that the laboratory tests were showing signs of positivity. At that point, we informed the Federal Minister of Health and Governor Sanwo-Olu, who is the Chief Incident Commander in Lagos.”

The Health Commissioner said the patient was responding well under a supportive therapy, saying efforts were on to identify all persons that had physical contact with the patient to break the cycle of transmission.

He disclosed that the State remained prepared to contain potential spread of the virus, observing that Lagos had wrapped up the capacity of its containment facility to 80-bed as a result of the emergency funds released by the Governor.

Prof. Abayomi said more capabilities were being put in place by the State to deal with increase number of cases. He said aggressive public awareness campaign was going on to sensitise residents on hygiene and activities that can prevent the spread of virus.

AgegePulse Magazine

Ajegunle Community

Following the rail construction in Agege, Ajegunle Community in Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State, the community leaders say the ongoing construction of Lagos–Ibadan Standard gauge line has exposed the community to flooding.

Rail in Agege

Mr Julius Ekemode, a Leader in Ajegunle Agege Community in an interview with AgegePulse Magazine, said that the community was “seriously prone to flooding due to the construction of the new rail lines’’.

Julius urged the Federal Government and Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) to come to the rescue of the community and build a canal in the community.

“We are sending a SOS message to government to take proactive measure to prevent the looming disaster as a result of flooding in this community.

“Rail line is good for the society no doubt about it, but our community is in danger of flooding when rain start.

“With little rain we have experienced here in January, just about 30 minutes, everywhere was flooded. (We have a video evidence).

“It was terrible, just imagine what will happen when the rain starts properly.

“The community is now appealing to the government and the NRC to come to our aid and build a canal for us that will withstand the full force of the water during the downpour.

“With high level of the rail line compare to buildings in our community, it’s like we are now in the valley which exposes us to flooding whenever it rains,” he said.

Also, Dr Samuel Olukayode, another community leader, appealed to the government to provide another secondary School for the community as the rail line had disconnected the area from others.

“The only secondary school our children attend is now at the other side of the standard gauge line.

“We can’t afford to put the life our children at risk on daily basis by crossing the rail line to the other side.

“We beg the government to come to our aid quickly before the matter become disaster.

“This is a big community and we don’t want the situation where the matter will go out of hands,” Olukayode said.

Speaking, Hon. Yinka Ogundimu, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, appealed to NRC and Federal Government to do rectification of the drainage channel before the rain started.

Ogundimu, representing Agege Constituency 2, said that the drainage channels constructed by contractor handling the rail line was too small to accommodate the high flow of rain water.

“We want the NRC to come and do rectification in, Ajegunle Agege Community; the drainage provided by the contractor is too small compared to previous canal.

“This is a save our soul message to the government otherwise our people will perish here.

“Now, we have foreseen this problem before occurrence, that is why we are calling on those who are concern to be proactive in solving the problem,” he said.

Flood, Agege

During her visit to the area, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo, the Commissioner for Education, urged the community to write to the state government, assuring them that necessary actions would be taken soon.

“Write a letter to the state government about the building of new secondary school in your area, and I am assuring you that your plights would be considered.

“Truly, we won’t allow those small children to be crossing such rail line with top speed, it is too risky.

“The state government will find solutions to all the challenges attached to the new standard gauge line in this area,” Adefisayo said.

Just In: Ambode Loses Bid To Stop Probe By Lawmakers Over Purchase Of 820 Buses

Justice Yetunde Adesanya of an Ikeja High Court on Thursday struck out a suit filed by former Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos, seeking to stop his probe by the state Assembly over purchase of 820 buse s for Bus Reform Project.

Ambode

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Adesanya ruled that the ad-hoc committee set up to investigate Ambode was a fact-finding committee.

According to the judge an investigation is not an indictment.

“The claimant (Ambode) has not been indicted. An invitation by an agency of government cannot in anyway cause a breach of the threat of the fundamental rights of the claimant.

“I hereby find that the claimant’s action is an invitation to the court to cripple the legislative exercise of the statutory power of the Lagos State House of Assembly under Section 128 and 129 of the 1999 Constitution.

“That is not the function of the court, and no court of law should accede such invitation. The claimant’s suit is hereby struck out,” she said.
NAN reports that Ambode had instituted the civil suit against the State House of Assembly, its Speaker, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, and the House Clerk, Mr A.A. Sanni.

Other respondents are Mr Fatai Mojeed, the Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee set up by the House to probe the procurement of the buses, and eight members of the committee.

SARS Operatives

The inspector general of police Mohammed Adamu has ordered the disbandment of satellite offices of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) across Nigeria.

Deputy inspector general of police in charge of Criminal Investigations Department Peter Ogunyonwo made the announcement during a courtesy visit to the family of late Remo Stars Sports Club player Tiamiyu Kazeem in Sagamu area of Ogun State.

“It is those (SARS) satellite offices that IG has ordered that should be disbanded immediately,” Ogunyonwo said.

“For example, there’s one in Ikorodu. From what we heard, there’s another one in Ijebu-Ode; there’s another one in Obada Oko from where officers came to cause this mayhem. So, all have been disbanded with immediate effect and the CPs have been ordered to take over such offices.”

In recent times, the Nigeria police have come under criticism by members of the public due to persistent extra-judicial killing, extortion, illegal arrest and harassment of citizens by officers attached to the SARS unit of the police.

On Saturday, February 22, SARS operatives arrested the late Kazeem who was allegedly accused of being an internet fraudster in Sagamu.

The arrest which led to his death has been attributed to different claims by the police and his teammate Sanni Abubakar who was with him during the arrest.

“The SARS officer stopped Tiyamiyu Kazeem, insisting that he was a Yahoo boy. He brought out his identity (ID) card to identify himself as a player of Remo Stars FC, but the officer insisted on taking him to the nearest police station in Sagamu,” Abubakar said.

He accused the police officer of pushing Kazeem out of a moving vehicle which led to his death.

But spokesman to Ogun State Police Command Abimbola Oyeyemi said the footballer was arrested for always wearing military apparels without being military personnel. He also refuted eyewitness’s claims about Kazeem’s death.

“While taking the deceased in a vehicle to Abeokuta, the vehicle they were travelling in developed a mechanical fault and while the officer was trying to rectify the fault, Tiamiyu jumped down from the vehicle to escape,” Oyeyemi said.

“In his bid to run across the road, an on coming vehicle which is on high speed knocked him down and he died on the spot.”

While the police is yet to conclude its investigation about Kazeem’s death, the IGP has assured Nigerians of ensuring justice prevails.

LASG ISSUES 7-DAY REMOVAL ORDER TO OWNERS/OCCUPANTS OF ILLEGAL STRUCTURES, OTHERS IN MILE 2

The operatives of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences  (Enforcement) Unit (Taskforce) today issued a 7-day 'Removal Notice' to owners/occupants of illegal structures/Shanties, mechanic workshops, containarised kiosks and commercial bus garages around Government Public Schools at Mile 2, Badagry Expressway, Lagos

Chairman of the Agency, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, who disclosed this at a gathering of illegal owners/occupants, traders/mechanics and sectional heads of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), warned them to immediately vacate the entire area as well as the vicinity of the Schools within the stipulated period.

Yinka Egbeyemi

CSP Egbeyemi affirmed that the 'Removal Order' became imperative following outcry by residents, particularly management of the Public Schools  (Imoye High School and Amuwo Odofin Junior Secondary School) that criminal elements have turned the area into hideouts/spots for carrying out their nefarious activities thereby making the environment unpleasant for learning.

According to him "it was disheartening seeing these illegal business operators like mechanics, Iron benders, food/fruits vendors and others turning the entire perimeter fence of these schools into illegal trading spots. In addition they have littered the entire area with indiscriminate dumping of refuse and waste metal materials".

The Chairman confirmed that investigation conducted revealed also that these illegal structures/shanties which serves as abode to criminal elements who rob unsuspecting members of the public of their valuables along highways on Lagos- Badagry Expressway do not have any permit or operating license from the Lagos State Government.

He reiterated that, immediately after the expiration of the 'Removal Order' on Tuesday, 4th of March, 2020, the Agency will embark on a clean-up exercise in the area as well as clampdown on all criminal elements.

CSP Egbeyemi, however, cautioned traders and occupants not to make financial contribution or bribe anyone inorder to prevent or stop the removal order, stressing that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has, on compassionate ground, approved monetary compensation for those who deserve it.

Lagos Teachers Explore Badagry Tourism Potentials

AgegePulse Magazine

The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District 1, Mrs. Titilayo Margaret Solarin has averred that those in the teaching profession deserve a step higher than their students in terms of exposure, adding that it was impossible for teachers to give what they do not have to pupils.

Solarin stated this when she led the staff of Government Junior College Agege, on a "Mid-Term Excursion/Retreat Programme" in Badagry town recently, pointing out that the choice of Badagry was because of its rich historical background and tourism potentials that serve as point of references to teachers during some of their interactions with students.

She described the idea of the retreat as a very laudable one, noting that it is important to be sensitive to the social and relaxation needs of staff in order to ensure that they continue to give their best to their students.

The Tutor-General expressed the hope that by the time the teachers return to school, they would have been better refreshed to give their best for the benefit of the students as well as the school as a whole.

Explaining that it was imperative for the teachers to keep abreast of developments around them and most importantly be familiar with some historical sites in the State, Solarin maintained that such knowledge would make teachers easily transfer their experiences of the monuments when teaching their students.

She commended the Principal of Agege Junior Government College for pioneering the initiative, describing the idea as highly remarkable and worthy of emulation by other Principals within the District and the State at large.

On her part, the Principal of Government Junior College Agege, Mrs. Bolanle Olusola Alamu, explained that the excursion and retreat were conceived as a noble idea to motivate teachers.

According to her, "we are just making efforts to key into the various creative and innovative reforms in the State's education sector, especially the call by the State Government to fashion new approaches to learning for better service delivery and results in our schools.

"My intention for organising this retreat was to further solidify the interest and confidence of the teachers in the teaching profession so that they can continue to give their best to the service. I believe that what is good for other professionals is also ideal for teachers" she asserted.

Mrs. Alamu expressed the hope that the teachers would, henceforth, approach their jobs with much passion and vigour going forward, saying that the presence of the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of the District was a morale booster and source of encouragement to the participants.

Customers to get refund for prepaid meters procured under MAP scheme – Ikeja Electric

The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IE) has said it is designing a proposal to refund its customers for prepaid meters procured under the ongoing Meter Assets Provider (MAP) scheme.

AgegePulse Magasine

IE’s Head of Corporate Communications, Felix Ofulue, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Tuesday.

Ofulue said that the proposal was, however, subject to the approval of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

NAN reports that a customer under the network currently pays N39, 765.86 for a single-phase meter and N72, 085.68 (VAT inclusive) for a three-phase meter.

Ofulue said the refund would either be in discounted tariffs or release of energy usage to cover the amount over a period of time upon approval by NERC.

He said:

“People are not aware that we intend to make this repayment. There are a lot of things that we are putting into considerations.

“The current tariff we have now is actually not cost-reflective but once we agree on a semi-cost reflective tariff, then we are going to discount the tariff for our customers so that they can enjoy the benefit of the scheme.”

Ofulue reiterated that IE currently had enough meters to meet its customers’ demand after the shortage that occurred between August and September 2019.

“During that period, there was an increase of about 35 percent in import duty and our meters were stuck at the port but that had been addressed.

“The scheme had to look for extra funds to clear the meters and so we have enough meters right now,” he said.

According to him, the only challenge faced by the scheme is the survey of the homes of those applying for prepaid meters and that has to be done as quickly as possible.

Ofulue said:

“This industry is a specialized field and you have to get the right equipment and people with the required skills to carry out the services.

“Once a customer is surveyed and advised to make payment, once the payment is made and it is confirmed, the customer will be metered within 10 working days.”

He said that the other problem faced in the installation of prepaid meters was that some customers do not indicate their references in their application form, which delayed the payment confirmation.

Ofulue said their failure to quote their account number or their application reference number would cause a snag in the system until it was resolved by the officials.

“We have always advised that whenever a customer makes payment, he should go back to our platform and upload their payment evidence @financemap/ikeja.com.

“When we have that information, we immediately use that evidence to reconcile your payment and your meter will be installed.

“On the average, each of our vendors – Mojec, New Hampshire and Conlog – installs about 1,500 prepaid meters weekly under the ongoing scheme,” he said.

He said that efforts were on to increase installation to about 3,000 per week.

Ofulue noted that over 60,000 customers had so far been metered under the MAP scheme, saying that IE hoped to meter all its customers by 2022.

Lagos Task force Debunks Report On Seized Vehicles

AgegePulse Magazine

The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit (Taskforce) has debunked an online report alleging that the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has directed the Agency to return all seized vehicles in their custody to their respective owners in the State.

A release issued by the Office of the Chairman of the Agency, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, refuted the claim that the decision was a follow up to a memo he sent to the Governor seeking for his approval to auction all seized vehicles in order to create space for new ones.

Egbeyemi maintained that he was not aware of the purported memo neither did he receive any directive to release impounded vehicles from the Governor, adding that it is irresponsible and mischievous for any individual to insinuate that Governor Sanwo-Olu will give such order.

According to him, “Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is conscious of the provisions contained in the 2018 amended Traffic Law as it relates to the duties of the Taskforce and will never make pronouncements contrary to the provisions of the law”.

While noting that Transportation and Traffic Management play prominent roles in the present administration's T.H.E.M.E.S agenda, the Chairman recalled that the Governor had on numerous platforms stated unequivocally that “should members of his family or cabinet run foul or violate the traffic laws, they shall equally face the consequences of such acts”.

Egbeyemi, therefore, implored the general public, particularly owners of such impounded vehicles, to ignore and disregard the fake news designed to confuse and mislead them into not complying with 'Court Order' on such vehicles in the custody of the Agency.
