AgegePulse Magazine

The Special Adviser to Mr. Governor on Housing, Barr. Barakat Odunuga-Bakare has emphasised the significance of robust real estate regulations in the State, expressing optimism that the Greater Lagos Rising mantra of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is achievable through collaborative efforts and adherence to regulatory standards.

Special Adviser to Mr. Governor on Housing, Barr. Barakat Odunuga-Bakare

She stated this while delivering her keynote address at the Real Estate Outlook 2024 event organised by the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC), themed “Looking Ahead, Gauging Opportunities”, aimed at providing a platform for stakeholders to explore prospects in the real estate sector held on Monday via Zoom.

While emphasising the pivotal role of regulatory measures in fostering a conducive environment for real estate development in Lagos State, the Special Adviser stated that Real Estate regulation must be transparent to achieve sustainable growth within the real estate industry.

Underlining the commitment of the Lagos State Government to prioritise the housing sector as part of its agenda to propel the state into a 21st-century economy, Odunuga-Bakare highlighted the implementation of the Affordable Home Ownership Scheme, underscoring the importance of real estate regulation within the sector.

In her presentation, she informed the gathering about the establishment of the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA), a regulatory agency tasked with overseeing the activities of individuals and organisations operating in the real estate sector.

Odunuga-Bakare outlined LASRERA’s mandate, which includes issuing and renewing permit licences, investigating complaints, eliminating unethical practices, and conducting training for industry professionals.

She lauded the collaborative efforts between LASRERA and federal enforcement agencies, stressing the imperative of restoring confidence and trust among local and international investors by combating fraudulent practices effectively.

Furthermore, she stressed the importance of ensuring that only qualified professionals operate within the industry to safeguard the interests of buyers and investors.

Odunuga-Bakare, therefore, called for the cooperation of all stakeholders in registering with LASRERA to combat fraudulent practices effectively.

She urged real estate practitioners to comply with the provisions of the State Real Estate Law and advised investors to verify LASRERA permits before engaging in property transactions.

The Special Adviser on Housing emphasised the need to sanitise the sector to encourage partnership with the private sector to boost confidence in investors.

AgegePulse Magazine

...Says initiative will stimulate economic activities in food markets

Presentation of Cheque by Gov. Sanwo-Olu

In fulfilment of his promise and demonstration of love to market men and women on Valentine’s Day, Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, flagged off the distribution of N750million financial intervention scheme tagged “Lagos Market Trader Money” for 15,000 beneficiaries.

The 15,000 beneficiaries, who received N50,000 each, were drawn from across all the six geo-political zones of Nigeria – South-West, South-East, South-South, North-Central, North-West and North East, but are all residents of Lagos.

Speaking during the launch of the Lagos Market Trader Money held at De Blue Roof, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the gesture will go a long way to actualise his goal of transforming the food systems in Lagos State and stimulate economic activities in various food markets in line with his administration’s THEMES+ developmental agenda.

It would be recalled that Governor Sanwo-Olu during the commissioning of the Mid-Level Agro produce Hub, Idi-Oro, Mushin on Sunday, December 17, 2023, announced a N750million financial intervention scheme for Lagos traders tagged “Lagos Market Trader Money” for 15,000 traders across the State.

Governor Sanwo-Olu fulfilled his promise in less than 60 days as 250 traders from each of 20 local governments and 37 Local Development Council Areas (LCDAs), as well as 750 beneficiaries identified from markets within the barracks and military formations across the State, on Wednesday, received N50,000 each.

Sanwo-Olu implored the beneficiaries of the Lagos Market Trader Money to make the best and judicious use of the grant in ways that will contribute to the economic development of the State.

“I urge you to let the citizens of Lagos feel the impact of this grant and all the other support that this administration has been providing towards ensuring food security, through reasonable reduction in the cost of basic food items in a way that it will be affordable to ordinary Lagosians,” he said.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said the initiative was conceptualized as a stop-gap measure of the Lagos State Government to empower small-scale traders in the Food Systems by providing them financial support to expand their businesses thereby fostering economic growth and improving the lives of many within the State.

He said: “This will ensure sustainable livelihoods and facilitate business expansion for 15,000 traders who occupy a strategic position in the State’s economic pyramid and food distribution network.

“Lagos State, which has a growing population presently estimated at over 24 million has a food system transaction value of over N6trillion annually, is in the process of establishing a dynamic food market system under the Food Systems Transformation Agenda to promote the preservation, storage, transportation and presentation of wholesome food to the populace, with the aim of reducing food waste, improve affordability, guarantee food safety, quality and accessibility.

“This initiative led to the implementation of key projects such as the establishment of the Lagos Central Food Security System and Logistics Hub, Ketu-Ereyun, Epe and the Mid-Level Agro Produce Hub, Idi-Oro, Mushin. As a mark of our resolve to follow through with the Agenda, work has commenced on three additional Mid-Level Agro-Produce Hubs at Sangotedo, Agege, and Abule-Ado, while the first phase of the Lagos Central Food Security System and Logistics Hub will be commissioned by December 2024.”

Speaking on how the 15,000 traders were selected for the Lagos Market Trader Money, Governor Sanwo-Olu disclosed that “The beneficiaries were identified by the State’s Agricultural Field Officers serving each LGA/LCDA in collaboration with the Iyaloja/Babaloja General and Market Masters of each Local Government/Local Council Development Area across the State.

“The beneficiaries were selected through a methodical process targeted at 200 beneficiaries from markets in each LGA/LCDA in addition to 50 beneficiaries that were selected by the Iyaloja/Babaloja General in each LGA/LCDA making a total of 14,250 market traders.

“Also, 750 beneficiaries were identified from markets within the Barracks and Military formations across the State in collaboration with their respective Iyaloja/Babaloja. This brings the total number of beneficiaries to 15,000.

“To ensure fairness in the selection process while demonstrating the spirit of Lagos as being home to all, the beneficiaries were drawn from across all the geopolitical zones of the Nation with 11,039 from the South-West, 914 from the South-East, 868 from the South-South, 1,710 from North- Central, 373 from the North-West and 107 from the North-East.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu also noted that 75 percent of the beneficiaries are women while the remaining 25 percent are men, adding that 35 percent of the beneficiaries are below 40 years while 65 percent are above 40 years. He said this goes to show the social inclusiveness in implementing the initiative.

Speaking earlier, Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, said the Lagos Market Trader Money initiative is part of the government’s efforts towards ensuring sustainable livelihoods and wealth creation for traders across the State.

She said: “This initiative is part of the State Government’s commitment to the development of the downstream segment of food and agricultural value chains which centers on markets and market access. This is due to the fact that Lagos is the largest market city-state in sub-Saharan Africa.

“The support that would be extended today is targeted at expanding the capacity of the beneficiaries to off-take more produce from our farmers thereby catalysing increased food production in and outside the State.

“This Initiative, jointly implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Local Governments, in collaboration with market leaders across all the 57 LGAs and LCDAs is only the first of many to be launched by Mr. Governor towards helping to shoulder the burdens of the citizenry, ranging from food, health, education to transportation.”

Also speaking, the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Chief (Mrs.) Folasade Tinubu-Ojo appreciated Governor Sanwo-Olu for the good gestures to market men and women in Lagos State.

She enjoined traders, who are beneficiaries of the Lagos Market Trader Money to make good use of the N50,000 given to them to augment their businesses.

AgegePulse Magazine

The Sarkin Samarin Yamma of the Seventeen (17) Southern States of Nigeria, Ambassador (Dr) Sanni Salisu Danmutaqqa, has revealed that his ascension to the throne is divine for the development and growth of the Youth, with establishment and repositioning of the traditional and cultural norms amongst the youth populace.

Ambassador Danmutaqqa made this known at the weekend during a Press Conference to mark his First Year Coronation Anniversary at his residence.

The youthful chief gave glory to Allah SWT for the grace to achieve so much in a short period of his reign, promising the youth that they should expect more landmark achievements and laudable feats in the coming months.

He appreciated His Royal Highness, Mallam Dr. Haruna Maiyasin Katsina, Sarkin Sasa and Sardaunan Yamma, who is the Chairman, Council of Arewa Traditional Chiefs in Seventeen (17) Southern States of Nigeria, for finding him worthy on merit to take the title. He as well hail the Royal Fathers and the youths for their inflicting support for him to have a peaceful reign with several development in a short time.

Ambassador Danmutaqqa highlighted some of his achievements so far within one year on the throne, and how he was able to change and re-established the face of the position with the exposure and administrative experience he had before he assumed the title.

‘Before being coronated as the Sarkin Samarin Yamma of the Seventeen (17) Southern States of Nigeria, by His Royal Highness, Mallam Dr. Haruna Maiyasin Katsina, Sarkin Sasa and Sardaunan Yamma, who is the Chairman, Council of Arewa Traditional Chiefs in Seventeen (17) Southern States of Nigeria, so many critics arose with lots of criticisms, pressure and challenges, in order for me not get the title. But to the Glory of Allah, I was blessed and given the title.

When I take up the role of Sarkin Samarin Yamma of the Seventeen (17) Southern States of Nigeria, I was not sure how activities and events would pan out over the following months. All I knew was that I was fully prepared in my vision and determination to make a difference in the lives and well-being of my people’, he recalled

‘I was clear about where I wanted to lead the Youth populace in the Southern States. I had my goals and mapped out, and how I was going to measure our achievements as we progress. At every opportunity I made it clear to everyone what my priorities were; human capacity development of our people, and socio-economic development across our communities’, he added

‘Each time that I talked about this, I make sure to also quickly emphasise that the foundation for achieving these goals is hinged on our ability to unite as a people, and how well we are able to build good relationships with our neighbours’, Danmutaqqa emphaised

The youthful chief looking back in the last one year declared that he was satisfied with the support and cooperation being enjoyed from his subjects, who he said contributed immensely for the successes.

‘I had no insight as to what structure was on ground, nor on the resources that would be available to work with. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly and easily we were able to get everyone that mattered onboard. Indeed, a good product will sell itself, provided people need or want it, and it has features that people can see working’, he stated

‘I am filled with joy and happiness. My people are my support. With the right support, you can surmount any obstacle. This wise saying couldn’t be truer, considering what I experienced since my ascension to the throne as the Sarkin Samarin Yamma of the Seventeen (17) Southern States’, he added

He reiterated that his reign within the period of a year has achieved a lot of important milestones, for which he is proud of, adding that he has confidence that the community can achieve a lot more in the future.

‘We need enormous support for our initiatives, both from home and abroad. My experience over the last 12 months, has confirmed my strong belief that when the conditions are conducive, Nigerians are generally good natured’, he stated

‘Certainly, credit for the successes which we have recorded so far, is due to the good support and contributions that we have received. From people who believe in our vision and trust in our plans, and who have supported us with resources to actualize our programmes’, Danmutaqqa stressed

The youthful chief, however, dedicated all achievements to his subjects, adding that his reign has touched the lives of the people in many positive ways. Notable achievements include community development and social well-being, war against drugs abuse, alternative dispute resolution, mental health advocacy among others.

“I have changed the perceptions of my people that, there is no chief without subjects. I have also change their perception about the traditional institution and cultural norms, and allow my subordinates to always feel free and enjoy themselves so that they will not be scared of telling me the truth.

"Furthermore, I am commending all those who attended my coronation and reception. Truth need be told, the title isn't mine alone, rather it is for all the youths, and I promise to be available to support and associate with all the Royal Fathers across board.

The Peace Ambassador, admonished the youth to discover themselves, be disciplined and focus, promising to bring prosperity, class, elegance, glamour, grandeur, panache and exceptional opportunities to the youth populace.

Lagos, Niger, Kwara State Establish Partnership for Improved food security, reduction of waste

 AgegePulse Magazine

(2nd Left) Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms. Abisola Olusanya with her counterparts, Commissioner for Agriculture & Rural Development, Kwara State, Mrs Oloruntoyosi Thomas and Commissioner for Industry, Trade, Investment and Private Sector Development, Niger State, Mr. Aminu Suleman Takuma.

The Lagos State Government has kicked off partnership programme with Niger and Kwara states towards bridging food supply-demand gaps under the Produce-4-Lagos initiative.

As a market-city State, Lagos is consumer-centric and requires large quantities of food to cater for its population's needs.

Looking inward first, the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture is supporting local Lagos farmers to boost food production particularly in livestock, fisheries and horticulture. In large commercial quantities, Niger and Kwara, as part of the broader picture of attaining Mr. President's food security agenda, have the competitive and comparative production edge in fulfilling the Lagos demand.

"President Tinubu made an executive order last year July around food security and he has lined up programmes to achieve this, particularly towards stemming the food inflation and ensuring youths are actively engaged in Agriculture and more importantly on how to scale food production.

These statement was made at the meeting held at The Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja by the Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms.

"Kwara shares a border with Nigeria Niger, they have the land, people and capabilities to produce. This is an agenda that we have for a lot of states in Nigeria not just Kwara and Niger states” Commissioner said

She stressed that historically, Nigeria is an Agro producing nation before the strength dwindled and it became expedient to reinvigorate the production capability of the states across Nigeria and ensure they are living up to their potential in terms of food production.

The Commissioner who assured of sustainability of the partnership said that governors of the respective states are already engaging but the meeting is to fine-tune and set the process in motion.

She said "We understand our positioning as a state, which is the market for West Africa, so we are making efforts to ensure our people continue to get cheaper, wholesome and quality food and ensure the general prosperity and health of our citizenry."

She added in the last four years the Agricultural Road Map and numerous partnerships by the state have yielded fruits with the establishment of the Lagos Central Food Security Systems and Logistics Hub, Middle level Agroproduce hub as well as Last Mile Markets created by the state government towards ensuring food security and sustainability.

Olusanya who hinted that the phase one of the Central Food Security Systems and Logistics Hub, Ketu-Ereyun, Epe would be completed and commissioned later this year also expressed readiness of the state to receive food supplies from other states as she emphasised the need to ensure steady food supply to the hubs.

According to her "There is nothing you bring to Lagos that will not sell, from tubers, to grains, and perishables because there is a target audience for it. It is not so much about reinventing the wheel, there are markets in Lagos for food items that come into the state.

"This will mark the beginning of collaboration with other states and subsequently we should be able to see better food pricing, reduced post-harvest loss and wealth creation for our farmers and value chain actors through improved revenues. We have to move in the direction that we are not just stopping in the area of production alone, value addition is key for us as a nation, to preserve, to keep our food longer and reduce wastage."

The Kwara State Commissioner of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs. Oloruntoyosi Thomas applauded the initiative which she described as a major milestone to boost agriculture in Nigeria, close the gaps of unemployment and increase food processing and production.

She said "It is a way of bridging gaps and building communities and empowering our farmers and it is about ensuring that there is food security. We are happy to key into this to be able to feed kwarans first before we can feed Lagos and Nigeria as a whole."

On his part, the commissioner Ministry of Industry, Trades, Investment and Private Sector Development of Niger state, Mr. Aminu Takuma mentioned that the move will go a long way to further transform the agricultural strategy of Niger state to blossom and yield the needed fruits for economic growth.

He said "What we have done today, is what will make the Agricultural Transformation strategy of Niger state work. Because the Governor has kick started it with the preparation of 600 hectares of land for cultivation. This will be allocated youth for cultivation and government will provide inputs input including the seeds and fertilizer.

He added that the thinking initially was who will offtake, now we have an off-taker, because we are going to be the producing state while Lagos will be the consuming state. What we need to know now is what producce do they want in Lagos, because everything you throw to the ground in Niger state grows."

He is optimistic that the relationship will engender robust development in the area of improving the food system while looking at other states coming on board to further develop the Agriculture ecosystem.

Speaking earlier, Mr Cezar Rizzi representing the Campo, a technical partner from Brazil said that the partnership would benefit both countries as it has successfully engaged some other African countries such as Angola, Mozambique, Zambia, Uganda and Kenya, stressing that South America is a tropical areas with similar climate like Nigeria and could help to improve the Agriculture productivity in such as Cattle and poultry production among others.

SANWO-OLU ORDERS PROBE INTO ALLEGED LAND SCAM BY REVOLUTION PLUS PROPERTY COMPANY

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has directed Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority-LASRERA to commence an investigation into a viral video clip made by one Mr Kayode Oladipo about 20 plots of lands he supposedly bought in 2017 from a Property Company, RevolutionPlus without any physical allocation of the said plots.

Following the Governor’s directive, the Lagos State Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Housing, Barr.Barakat Odunuga-Bakare and Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Housing, Engr. Gbolahan Toriola, on Friday, invited the Management of RevolutionPlus Limited who was led the company’s Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director, Dr.Bamidele Onalaja, for fact-finding.

The information gathering process by the top government officials, according to the Commissioner for Housing will help find lasting solutions to frequent reports of fraudulent practices in the State’s real Sector and thus protect the interest of investors and investees in the Real Estate business transactions in Lagos State.

Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Housing, Barr.Barakat Odunuga-Bakare recalled that before the viral video made by Mr Kayode Oladipo, there had been some concerns raised by members of the public about the conduct of RevolutionPlus Property Limited to some of its subscribers.

The members of the investigation team reiterated the resolve of the State government to investigate the allegation against RevolutionPlus Limited in line with LASRERA Law 2022.

According to them, LASRERA Law 2022 empowers the agency to investigate petitions and complaints from members of the public to protect and promote sanity as well as boost further investors' confidence both at home and foreign investments for the sector in Lagos State.

The CEO/MD of the real estate company, Dr.Bamidele Onalaja, affirmed that Mr. Kayode Oladipo (complainant) subscribed for 20 (Twenty) plots of land from RevolutionPlus Property Limited at Dallas Court, Lekki and Royalty Gardens, Ajah, in Lagos State.

Dr. Onalaja explained that 2 (two) out of the original 20 plots were fully paid for by the client, while the necessary documentation has been completed and handed over to him.

He added that the remaining 18 (eighteen) plots of those land have not been fully paid by Mr. Kayode Oladipo as he flouted the payment agreement on the contract.

He said that property NOT fully paid for with its associated costs will not be processed based on contract conditions because, in case of non-compliance, the company policy requires the relocation of such subscriber to another site upon completion of payment or refund of the deposited sum less 40%( forty percent).

He noted that having defaulted in his payment pattern, RevolutionPlus Property Limited relocated him to another land site at Amazon Estate, Epe, which he declined while the option of refunding the sum advanced was also rejected by Mr Kayode Oladipo, the complainant.

Onalaja said that the company has finalized the allocation of 5 (five) plots to Mr. Kayode Oladipo at Amazon Estate based on the payment made with necessary documents forwarded to him.

The CEO of RevolutionPlus Property Limited also added that Mr Kayode Oladipo did not make a payment of N40,000,000.00 (Forty Million to the company as claimed in the viral video, urging members of the public to disregard his claims as untrue and misleading.

However, in the course of the committee’s investigation, Mr Kayode Oladipo who was contacted on the phone, maintained that he paid the deposit sum of N18,606,000.00 (Eighteen Million, Six Hundred and Six Thousand Naira to RevolutionPlus Property Limited in 2017.

He said that along the line, he lost his job and couldn't continue with the payment as he initially agreed.

He confirmed that he declined the option of relocation to Amazon Estate, Epe in Lagos State, and wants the State Government to compel RevolutionPlus Property Limited to allocate his subscribed plots of land to him.

The Investigation Committee explained to Mr. Kayode Oladipo that having defaulted in his payment arrangement, the real estate company has the right to offer the option of relocation to another site equivalent to money paid or the option of refund of the amount paid less 40% as stipulated in the agreed contract of sales by both parties.

It should be noted that after the deliberations by the investigation team, Mr Kayode Oladipo (Complainant) has agreed to accept the allocation of (5) plots of land at Amazon Estate, Epe of Lagos State which is equivalent to the present value of his payment.

LASG Reiterates Commitment To Food Security In Lagos

AgegePulse Magazine

The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment  to fully implement the five-year Agricultural and Food Systems Roadmap to achieve food security in the state.

(M) Ms Abisola Olusanya, Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture, R: HoS, Hon. Agoro, (2nd L) House Committee on Agriculture, Mr. Olotu

The five-year Agricultural Food Systems Roadmap was launched in 2021 by Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to ensure Lagosians are secured when it comes to food security.

Speaking at the event, Lagos Food Systems Stakeholders’ Breakfast Meeting held yesterday at Protea Hotel, Alausa, Ikeja organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture, Ms Abisola Olusanya, the State Commissioner for Agriculture, stated that the state government would provide funds for agric service providers, improved rice paddy production and land bank collaboration with sister states.

“We will go live on eight projects which include, Central Logistics Hub, Lagos Aquaculture Centre of Excellence (LACE), capacity building for horticulture stakeholders, full operations and capacity building for stakeholders in the Lagos Food Production Centres.

“Others are execution of state-wide intervention and Green Wall Initiative,” she said.

Ms. Abisola listed others as the establishment of Agricultural Value Chains Entreprise Activation Programme, Agri-thon, Lagos Cares, Lagos Entrepreneurship Programme and the Lagos Agric Scholars Programme.

“The state government will also create the Lagos Agrinnovation Clusters, the Food Value Chains’ Destination, the Lagos Central Food Security System and Logistics Hub and the Middle Level Agro Product Hub.”

Olusanya said part of the roadmap was to increase production of rice paddy in order to meet with the growing rice consumption of the state.

The commissioner said the state government would increase the production of rice paddy by partnering with other sister states such as Niger and Kebbi states on land bank collaboration.

Olusanya listed the projects to be undertaken by the state government to include Lagos Rice Mill, the Central Logistics Hub, – the Red Meat Initiative, Lagos Feedlot System and Butchers’ Academy among others.

The commissioner said the ministry would set up the Lagos feedlot system, establishment of Butchers’ Academy, creation of Last mile meat Shop.

Olusanya said the purpose of the meeting was to intimate the stakeholders on the ministry’s activities for the year 2024 and also get their contributions.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the governor on Agriculture, Dr Oluwarotimi Fashola, said the state government would require N50 billion to produce 100,000 tonnes of rice paddy in 2024.

Fashola said the Imota Rice Mill was able to produce 15,000 tonnes of rice paddy in 2023.

“We started off with about 5,000 tonnes of paddy and with the genuity of the team we were able to partner with the Commodity and Exchange Board that brought another close to 10,000 paddy for us to end the year.

“We were able to do roughly about 15,000 tonnes of paddy which is over 120,000 bags of rice in 2023, but this year we are hoping to do 100,000 tonnes of paddy.

“Believe me, that is not cheap because last year we started about N200,000 per ton but today as I speak, the cost of paddy is about N510,000 per ton.

NewYear2024: Egunjobi assures residents of more dividends, calls for support

Dear constituents,

As we mark the beginning of the year 2024 today, we give glory and adoration to the Almighty for His abundant blessings and mercy over us.

NewYear2024: Egunjobi assures residents of more dividends, calls for support

Many could not witness this day, not because we are better than them, but by His grace.  The best way to appreciate Him is for us all to forgive one another and live harmoniously with helping hands.

In the year 2023, the council under my watch did not relent in its efforts to ensure we give the people of the council area enabling environment to strive in all spheres of live viz:

*Education:*

In a bid to lessen the burden of Agege Secondary School students as well as improved their performances in JAMB, WAEC and other Computer Base Test (CBT) Examinations, Agege Local Government council built a state of the art CBT Centre in Iloro Maternity Centre making us the first and only Local Government among the 774 Local Governments of Nigeria to do so.

My administration also distributed free exercise books to all public primary school pupils as palliative support for the parents.

The council's transportation intervention scheme aimed at assisting parents to transport pupils of public schools has been ongoing unhitched, and we would consolidate in the gains to ensure our leaders of tomorrow have easy transportation and for timely resumption of classes.

*Environmental:*

The environment department, throughout the year, embarked on vigorous sensitization for the residents to maintain hazard free environment, evacuated blocked drainage channels across the council area.

*Socio-economy:*

My administration took upon itself to seize criminals hideouts in the council area to better the lots of residents, thereby boost the economy, which led to the transformation of Moshalashi Alhaja 'Evil's nest' market into a standard and modern market and relabeled: Alhaja Taibat Bukonla Obasa Modern Market for the residents and stakeholders.

*Health:*

In a bid to meet up with emergency response device delivery, my administration procured three (3) ambulance vehicles, which have been positioned at strategic locations within the council area for the people of Agege to get easy access and quick response to medical attention when needed.

*Social Welfare:*

a. It is on record that over one thousand (1,000) persons have so far benefited from the N100,000 monthly financial empowerment programme for residents of the council area, particularly, the youths to enable them startup/boost a Small Scale Entrepreneurship (SME) in Agege. This is promised to be a continuous exercise as we continue to assist the needy at all times.

b. *Fuel Subsidy removal palliative:*

It is worthy to note that, in consonance with the directive of Mr. President  and the Governor of Lagos State to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal, my administration distributed food materials through the committee comprising of Agege Community Development Council, League of Imams, Christian Association of Nigeria, Market leaders, Nigeria Union of Teachers and  the leadership of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Agege Local Branch to ensure that the food palliatives gets to the targeted vulnerable within Agege community. This gained more accolades from residents and stakeholders respectively.

c. Welfare of the council staff, management and non-management are well taken care of, including the councilors and the cabinet members.

*Security:*

In order to strengthen the council's synergy with stakeholders and security agencies, gave birth to the newly launched Agege Security outfit, otherwise known and called "PARAMOLE". This initiative was aimed providing more intelligence gathering to aid the state security agencies to tackle and curb security challenges within the council area.  This has generated meaningful employment for not less than fifty (50) youths in the council area.

*Infrastructure:*

All the existing roads under construction would be completed soonest and many roads with the council area would get facelifts.  We shall newly construct roads, such as: Ajakaiye/Elicana street, Arigidi/Adegbola/Sonaiya streets with concrete drainage walls with street lights to be installed.

Asphaltic surfacing of Ashaolu Street with both sides RC drainage wall including street lights would put in place this year..

The council shall embark on reconstruction of Creche building at Maternity PHC in Agege Local Government council area.

Akerele Street inward Oniwaya road by Agege main market would be constructed as well. We shall equally construct a storey building office complex at Ijaye Road.

I therefore, implore all residents and stakeholders to give maximum support to the government at all level as that is the only way the renewed hope of Mr. President can collectively be achieved.

Let me use this medium to reassure you all that my administration will stop at nothing to ensure that the good people of the council area enjoy enabling environment to strive in all their respective endeavours.   No doubt, this year would certainly be better for us all, amen.

On behalf of The Executive Council, Legislative Members and The Entire Management Staff, I wish you all a  Happy New Year.
