SANWO-OLU ORDERS PROBE INTO ALLEGED LAND SCAM BY REVOLUTION PLUS PROPERTY COMPANY

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has directed Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority-LASRERA to commence an investigation into a viral video clip made by one Mr Kayode Oladipo about 20 plots of lands he supposedly bought in 2017 from a Property Company, RevolutionPlus without any physical allocation of the said plots.

Following the Governor’s directive, the Lagos State Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Housing, Barr.Barakat Odunuga-Bakare and Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Housing, Engr. Gbolahan Toriola, on Friday, invited the Management of RevolutionPlus Limited who was led the company’s Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director, Dr.Bamidele Onalaja, for fact-finding.

The information gathering process by the top government officials, according to the Commissioner for Housing will help find lasting solutions to frequent reports of fraudulent practices in the State’s real Sector and thus protect the interest of investors and investees in the Real Estate business transactions in Lagos State.

Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Housing, Barr.Barakat Odunuga-Bakare recalled that before the viral video made by Mr Kayode Oladipo, there had been some concerns raised by members of the public about the conduct of RevolutionPlus Property Limited to some of its subscribers.

The members of the investigation team reiterated the resolve of the State government to investigate the allegation against RevolutionPlus Limited in line with LASRERA Law 2022.

According to them, LASRERA Law 2022 empowers the agency to investigate petitions and complaints from members of the public to protect and promote sanity as well as boost further investors' confidence both at home and foreign investments for the sector in Lagos State.

The CEO/MD of the real estate company, Dr.Bamidele Onalaja, affirmed that Mr. Kayode Oladipo (complainant) subscribed for 20 (Twenty) plots of land from RevolutionPlus Property Limited at Dallas Court, Lekki and Royalty Gardens, Ajah, in Lagos State.

Dr. Onalaja explained that 2 (two) out of the original 20 plots were fully paid for by the client, while the necessary documentation has been completed and handed over to him.

He added that the remaining 18 (eighteen) plots of those land have not been fully paid by Mr. Kayode Oladipo as he flouted the payment agreement on the contract.

He said that property NOT fully paid for with its associated costs will not be processed based on contract conditions because, in case of non-compliance, the company policy requires the relocation of such subscriber to another site upon completion of payment or refund of the deposited sum less 40%( forty percent).

He noted that having defaulted in his payment pattern, RevolutionPlus Property Limited relocated him to another land site at Amazon Estate, Epe, which he declined while the option of refunding the sum advanced was also rejected by Mr Kayode Oladipo, the complainant.

Onalaja said that the company has finalized the allocation of 5 (five) plots to Mr. Kayode Oladipo at Amazon Estate based on the payment made with necessary documents forwarded to him.

The CEO of RevolutionPlus Property Limited also added that Mr Kayode Oladipo did not make a payment of N40,000,000.00 (Forty Million to the company as claimed in the viral video, urging members of the public to disregard his claims as untrue and misleading.

However, in the course of the committee’s investigation, Mr Kayode Oladipo who was contacted on the phone, maintained that he paid the deposit sum of N18,606,000.00 (Eighteen Million, Six Hundred and Six Thousand Naira to RevolutionPlus Property Limited in 2017.

He said that along the line, he lost his job and couldn't continue with the payment as he initially agreed.

He confirmed that he declined the option of relocation to Amazon Estate, Epe in Lagos State, and wants the State Government to compel RevolutionPlus Property Limited to allocate his subscribed plots of land to him.

The Investigation Committee explained to Mr. Kayode Oladipo that having defaulted in his payment arrangement, the real estate company has the right to offer the option of relocation to another site equivalent to money paid or the option of refund of the amount paid less 40% as stipulated in the agreed contract of sales by both parties.

It should be noted that after the deliberations by the investigation team, Mr Kayode Oladipo (Complainant) has agreed to accept the allocation of (5) plots of land at Amazon Estate, Epe of Lagos State which is equivalent to the present value of his payment.

“We started off with about 5,000 tonnes of paddy and with the genuity of the team we were able to partner with the Commodity and Exchange Board that brought another close to 10,000 paddy for us to end the year.

“We were able to do roughly about 15,000 tonnes of paddy which is over 120,000 bags of rice in 2023, but this year we are hoping to do 100,000 tonnes of paddy.

“Believe me, that is not cheap because last year we started about N200,000 per ton but today as I speak, the cost of paddy is about N510,000 per ton.

“In other words, if we are going to do 100,000 tonnes per paddy we will need N50 billion,” he said.

NewYear2024: Egunjobi assures residents of more dividends, calls for support

Many could not witness this day, not because we are better than them, but by His grace.  The best way to appreciate Him is for us all to forgive one another and live harmoniously with helping hands.

My administration also distributed free exercise books to all public primary school pupils as palliative support for the parents.

The council's transportation intervention scheme aimed at assisting parents to transport pupils of public schools has been ongoing unhitched, and we would consolidate in the gains to ensure our leaders of tomorrow have easy transportation and for timely resumption of classes.

The environment department, throughout the year, embarked on vigorous sensitization for the residents to maintain hazard free environment, evacuated blocked drainage channels across the council area.

*Socio-economy:*

My administration took upon itself to seize criminals hideouts in the council area to better the lots of residents, thereby boost the economy, which led to the transformation of Moshalashi Alhaja 'Evil's nest' market into a standard and modern market and relabeled: Alhaja Taibat Bukonla Obasa Modern Market for the residents and stakeholders.

It is on record that over one thousand (1,000) persons have so far benefited from the N100,000 monthly financial empowerment programme for residents of the council area, particularly, the youths to enable them startup/boost a Small Scale Entrepreneurship (SME) in Agege. This is promised to be a continuous exercise as we continue to assist the needy at all times.

b. *Fuel Subsidy removal palliative:*

It is worthy to note that, in consonance with the directive of Mr. President  and the Governor of Lagos State to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal, my administration distributed food materials through the committee comprising of Agege Community Development Council, League of Imams, Christian Association of Nigeria, Market leaders, Nigeria Union of Teachers and  the leadership of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Agege Local Branch to ensure that the food palliatives gets to the targeted vulnerable within Agege community. This gained more accolades from residents and stakeholders respectively.

c. Welfare of the council staff, management and non-management are well taken care of, including the councilors and the cabinet members.

*Security:*

In order to strengthen the council's synergy with stakeholders and security agencies, gave birth to the newly launched Agege Security outfit, otherwise known and called "PARAMOLE". This initiative was aimed providing more intelligence gathering to aid the state security agencies to tackle and curb security challenges within the council area.  This has generated meaningful employment for not less than fifty (50) youths in the council area.

*Infrastructure:*

All the existing roads under construction would be completed soonest and many roads with the council area would get facelifts.  We shall newly construct roads, such as: Ajakaiye/Elicana street, Arigidi/Adegbola/Sonaiya streets with concrete drainage walls with street lights to be installed.

15,000 LAGOS TRADERS GET N50,000 CASH SUPPORT, AS SANWO-OLU LAUNCHES MARKET PALLIATIVE SCHEME

-Governor commissions middle-level Fresh Food Market in Mushin, expands food supply chain

15,000 LAGOS TRADERS GET N50,000 CASH SUPPORT, AS SANWO-OLU LAUNCHES MARKET PALLIATIVE SCHEME

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday, launched a fresh palliative scheme for low-income traders across local markets in the State, as part of measures being taken to cushion the effect of the current economic realities.

The Governor rolled out Lagos Market Trader Money, which, in the first phase, will provide N50,000 business support grants to 15,000 struggling traders across the 57 Local Government Areas of the State.

Sanwo-Olu announced the scheme in Idi-Oro, Mushin, where he led the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and cabinet members, to commission a newly constructed middle-level Fresh Food Agro hub built by the State Government to sustain food supply chain.

The Governor said market leaders in each council had been asked to nominate 200 each in community markets in all the councils, with the list cutting across small markets. Disbursement of funds to beneficiaries, he said, would begin on Monday (tomorrow), with Ministry of Agriculture coordinating the payment.

He said: “As part of the measures to cushion the effect of the current economic realities, we have come up with an intervention for all low-income market women and men struggling to sustain their micro and small businesses in this period. Today, we are launching Lagos Market Trader Money, which is a palliative measure to support traders in our local markets.

“The first 15,000 beneficiaries will be getting a support of N50,000 from the State Government. Traders in big markets are excluded from this scheme. Leaders of community markets across 57 local councils will submit 200 names each that must be divided among 10 markets in each domain. Beyond this, the Iyaloja and Babaloja (market leaders) will personally select additional 50 beneficiaries each.”

The scheme, Sanwo-Olu said, will be extended to markets in military and police barracks, which would provide 750 beneficiaries of the support grant.

The Governor said inauguration of the middle-level Fresh Food Agro Market in Mushin was another milestone achieved by his administration towards realising food security objectives. He stressed that the facility, which is the first in the State, heralded a turning point in Lagos food distribution system and modernisation of existing markets.

The Sanwo-Olu administration, in 2021, initiated a roadmap for a coordinated food security and distribution network in Lagos, embarking on the construction of Food Security Systems and Central Logistics Park in Ketu-Ereyun, Epe. This central hub will serve middle-level markets across the Local Government Areas.

The State Government has a plan to build 50 middle-level agro hubs, with the Governor disclosing that plans were underway to construct three of such markets in Agege, Ajah and Abule Ado.

Sanwo-Olu said his administration adopted food system transformation initiative as a measure to improve existing market system in Lagos, which, he said, was inundated by wastages, post-harvest losses, traffic congestion and logistical inefficiencies that regularly resulted in loss of over 50 per cent of perishable agricultural produce.

He said: “This formal commissioning of a middle-level Agro Produce hub in Idi Oro, Mushin, is another milestone towards achieving our food security objectives. This facility, which is the first in the State, heralds a turning point in the State food distribution system. This transformation journey is hinged on our five-year Agricultural Food System Roadmap, which reflects our passionate commitment to boosting food production, processing and marketing.

The roadmap sets the stage for direct intervention, strategic collaboration and establishment of linkages with the private sector, financial institutions, foreign investors and multilateral agencies. Our food system are categorised into the Central Logistics Hub, Mid-level Agro-produce Hub, and the Last Mile Food Distribution outlets. Inefficiencies observed in the existing market system make it imperative to address the central problem of the food supply systems.

“These efforts have continued to yield the desired result in increased food production. The middle-level Agro Produce hub will pave the way for the modernisation, reorganisation and presentation of state-of-the-art data-driven food and agriculture systems where players and actors in the marketing chain interact freely. This will also address prevailing market challenges of inadequate infrastructure, food shortage, high degree of fragmentation and standardisation.”

Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, said the middle-level Fresh Food market maximized storage of wet and dry food to cut down losses and waste. She added that the facility had addressed unhealthy display of food items by traders, while affording consumers to utilise economic of scale and buy large quantities of fresh farm produce at the affordable prices.

“This will give consumers a new experience of shopping for fresh Agro products in a safe environment that caters for their needs. This sustainable model of food production and supply system is being pioneered by Governor Sanwo-Olu. This is the right way to go for us as a country to ensure food security is taken seriously,” the Commissioner said.

Iyaloja of Mushin, Alhaja Taibat Borokinni, led traders to the Governor to show their appreciation for the completion of the market and the palliative scheme.

She said: “It is our turn today to benefit from the good initiative introduced by our Governor to improve our markets. This gesture is the reciprocation of our support for Governor. We have never regretted our decision and we will support other initiatives being taken to better the lives of market men and women.”

Member representing Mushin Federal Constituency 2, Hon. Toyin Fayinka, thanked the Sanwo-Olu for seeing to the completion of the market project. He said Mushin became the first council to make the food security vision of the Governor a reality.

“This is a wake up call to other Local Governments to give chance to projects like this in their domains in order to support food security agenda of the State Government,” Fayinka said.
