...Commends Youths’ Peaceful #ENDSARS Protests

...Lauds Gov. Sanwo-Olu on his commitment to deliver the Agege Pen Cinema Flyover Bridge

A former member of the House of Representatives, Mr Taofeek Adaranijo, has applauded Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to the completion of projects inherited from his predecessor, Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode.

Adaranijo, who represented Agege Federal Constituency in the 8th National Assembly, gave the commendation in an interview with newsmen on Saturday in Lagos.

According to him, Sanwo-Olu, in the last 500 days of his administration, has not let the people down with his infrastructural development, response to COVID-19 pandemic and engagement of people.

“Sanwo-Olu has been performing excellently well and there have been a lot of improvements in the provision of the dividends of democracy to the people.

“He met a lot of projects yet to be completed by the last administration and he has focused on the completing them.

“Everyone can see these all over the state; this is commendable.

“I know, immediately those projects are completed, the governor will embark on new projects,’’ Adaranijo, a former Orile-Agege Council boss said.

He said that the governor has continued to make life easy and more abundant for residents of the state in terms of infrastructural development.

Adaranijo, who commended Sanwo-Olu’s response to COVID-19 pandemic and the #ENDSARS protesters, added that his commitment to deliver the Agege Pen Cinema Flyover Bridge was commendable.

According to him, the bridge will open up Agege and enable other developments to spring up in the area when completed.

The former lawmaker said that the state government should continue on his commitment to repairing roads and build more schools in Agege and its environs.

According to him, efforts are being made to build more classrooms in some schools, provide boreholes, street lights, electricity transformers and massive empowerment for youths and women when he represented the federal constituency.

On #ENDSARS protests, Adaranijo commended the youths’ peaceful conduct and both the state and federal government for handling the protest with maturity.

He said that, having articulated their demands that elicited responses and actions from the government on police brutality, the youth should ease the tension and end the protest.

On the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, Adaranijo urged the federal government to expedite actions on the project, saying the condition of the road has become an eye sore.

He suggested that since the road is beneficial to Lagos and Ogun residents, government of both states should put machineries in motion to rehabilitate the road.

End Corruption, Dissolve PEF Like #EndSARS, Jumu'ah Urges Nigerian Govt | AgegePulse Magazine

A Dedicated fighter for Government Accountability & Justice and Human Rights Journalist, Jumu'ah Abiodun, has told the Nigerian Government headed by President Muhammadu Buhari to restructure the country for peace to reign.

The activist in a statement made available to journalists noted that the only way for peaceful coexistence in Nigeria is for the government to take it as a matter of urgency to revisit the 2014 Nigerian National CONFAB report and restructure the country.

Jumu'ah stated further that the ongoing protest is far beyond on police brutality occasioned by the #EndSARS protesters but for the resistance of oppression and corruption by the Nigerian ruling class who sees nothing wrong in stealing public funds.

"The youths are frustrated, the government must be careful with this protest not to end in "#RevolutionNow". This is beyond #EndSARS, some of the youths are now clamouring for an end to corruption."

"The protest continue, the youths are getting stronger everyday, N30m has been raised within few days by supporters, driving ambulance buses, doctors & nurses and lawyers on standby to treat injured and releasing arrested protesters"

"The protesters are now walking miles with placards, deploying websites and bots, as well as #EndSARS Wikipedia"

"I don't know why our leaders are not ashamed of themselves? Minimum wage is N30, 000 and a bag of rice is over N30,000, petroleum price now at N162 per litre, food price skyrocketed by 70 per cent. Nothing good is working for the citizens as corruption take center stage, ASUU still on since over eight months"

"Seriously, this present leaders has failed Nigeria, barracks looks like dumpsites, Police buys uniforms, buttons, no leave, no insurance and political office holders go home with millions of naira every month and you don't want them to receive bribe? you are a joker."

"While we talking about corruption in Nigeria, President Buhari then nominated his aide who is a card-carrying member of a political party to be Commissioner in the nation's election umpire."

Recall, Jumu'ah in his Nigeria at 60 message to Nigerians home and in Diaspora advised the Buhari administration to repeal Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF) and Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to curb corruption. "If we really want to be one, my advice will be good for the peace of the country, there's an urgent need for any government who want peace and want to end corruption to stop 'PEF' with immediate effect because those in the West don't buy 'Yam, Onions and Pepper' same price as they sell in the North, so why paying for PEF. PEF is just a fraudulent policy with which public office holders are using to siphon public funds," Jumu'ah noted.

He explained further that: "Another loophole left open for the stealing of funds is the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). In the first place, for whatever reason NDDC might have been created, it's clearly unnecessary. Construction or rehabilitation of Roads in the region, ministry of Works should do that. Cleaning of the Ogoni oil spill, the ministry of Environment fits in."

The activist faulted IGP Mohammadu Adamu for pronouncing Special Weapons and Tactical Team (SWAT) so quick, "pronouncing SWAT to replace the dreaded SARS within four days of the dissolution of SARS, when the whole world still protesting against injustice, police brutality in Nigeria is a wrong shot by the IGP and the Presidential Panel on Police Reform", Jumu'ah stated.

"What we need is total police reform, where citizens can record police officers activities on the road without no fear or violence, then we can have a decent policing environment. Provision of genuine life insurance for the police as well as good salaries at the same par with political office holders."

The Human Rights Journalist chides Presidency for blaming previous administrations for their lapses, "what we voted for is the government who promised to do better than previous administrations not to blame previous governments."

"For record purposes, PDP did not establish SARS as claimed by some quarters, Simeon Danladi Midenda (Rtd) formed SARS when late Col. Ezra Rindam of the Nigerian Army was killed by police officers at a checkpoint in Lagos in September 1992."

The activist also commended Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, who is representing Owan Federal Constituency of Edo on his contribution towards impending Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike for conceding no government in Nigeria has been able to solve one single problem since Independence in 1960.

Jumu'ah quoted the lawmaker: "We should be embarrassed, the Nigeria ruling class all wearing big "Agbada", riding air conditioning cars and building mansions in Asokoro and other places. We should be embarrassed that as a nation we have not made progress precisely in any sector."

"Part of the problem is what is happening with ASUU, we are talking of out of school children and your governor goes out with twenty (20) cars, they are spending money to hire tugs but they cannot build schools for their children talk less of feeding the children once a day. Let's take ourselves more seriously, let's take our country more seriously, and do the right thing at the right time to save the future."

#EndSARS Protest: Egbeyemi Led Lagos Taskforce Team's A Role Model, Says LASPOTECSU President

AgegePulse Magazine

The students union president of Lagos State Polytechnic said the revolution that led to the disband of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) should not be used to drag in the functional Lagos taskforce team under the discipline leadership of CSP Saheed Olayinka Egbeyemi.

While addressing the press, Comr. Olamide Emmanuel made it known that the Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Unit (Lagos Taskforce) has proven to be uncompromising in several occasions and are more active than the defunct SARS, with the chairman of the Lagos Taskforce well known for his resilience in fighting crimes and keeping the state properly structured for road users, as well as helping to keep cleanliness in every market in the state.

Lagos Taskforce was described by the president as an example of how Nigerian security outfit can function better. In his words, "though, there will be some few who will speak odd of Lagos taskforce but the students leaders in Lagos state can testify to the gallant approach of Lagos Taskforce team in combating road and market crimes. Even at that, the door of the chairman of the team has never been closed for Nigerian students. The chairman of the taskforce has proven to be a father to Nigerian students and have continuously open his door for us whenever our students or student leaders have any issue with his men."

Furthermore, the erstwhile chairman of NANS, Comr. Moses Samson Adewale said "CSP Egbeyemi is a worthy disciplinarian that have managed his team away from corrupt practices and Lagos Taskforce should not be dragged into the #EndSARS protest and public cry. The only set of people that will complain about Lagos Taskforce are indiscipline commercial bus drivers and conductors as they are always the ones that frequently go against the road laws in the state".

In the same vein, another Nigerian Student, System Joseph Philip has described the CPS Egbeyemi led team a functional, well behave agency.

According to him, "The Lagos State Taskforce has helped Lagosian in divers form. The disparity between them and the police or neighborhood is very clear, they are well equipped and can face any turbulence that want to cause havoc's to the people and the society".

The general superintendent of the Lagos State task force is a very vast and intelligent person that make sure everything work in a good modus vivendi and at the same time want to listen to others opinion.

Recall, during the COVID-19 pandemic, some group of gangsters called million Boys started some deviant attitude by entering different communities to extort people of their valuables. The DSP Olatunji Disu, the head of Rapid Response Sqaud(RRS) gave Egbeyemi a call and they swung into action to curtail their illegal activities.

This wonders of CSP Saheed Olayinka Egbeyemi sobriquet him  "White Lion", due to his clean approach to fighting corruption and instilling discipline to road commuters

LASG reaffirms November completion, inauguration of Pen Cinema flyover bridge | AgegePulse Magazine

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday announced that it was working round the clock to meet up with the promised completion and inauguration of the Pen Cinema flyover bridge in November.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Mrs Aramide Adeyoye made the pledge at a stakeholders meeting to flag-off the rehabilitation of Iwaya Road in Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

Adeyoye said the government usually chose the best experienced contractors to execute its projects because of the determination and deliberate policies for quality infrastructure delivery.

“We cannot afford to take bond money and then use it anyhow. It is not only that it is taxpayers money, it is bond money but it is ultimately tax payers money because you also pay tax so that we can refund that loan.

“So we were deliberate to say these things must be done well, people must be able to see what we have used it for (N100 Billion bond).

“That is why we have gone back to Pen Cinema to try to finish that bridge project and by the grace of God, that bridge would be commissioned by end of next month. We are working assiduously towards it and we will get there,” she said.

She appealed to residents of Iwaya to take ownership of the proposed construction and report any irregularities noticed to her office

She appealed to residents to call her lines anytime and day of the week to report irregularities on site.

“If a contractor is not doing what is not right, please don’t hesitate to flag us. Taking ownership is key,” she said.

She added that the Sanwo-Olu’s government was constructing roads to meet the needs of different communities across the state, adding that, no construction was done without consulting the people on what they need.

She explaines that the administration had adopted strategies to ensure successful completion of durable roads across the state, adding that, her ministry was an enabler for all the other aspects of the Sanwo-Olu administration’s THEMES agenda.

She listed various problematic roads including Mile 12 Road which engineering solutions and strategies helped to complete and deliver quality durable constructions to residents.

She reeled out other achievements of the government since it came on board in 2019 and appealed for the support of residents and other Iwaya stakeholders during the proposed construction.

Mr Olujimi Hotonu, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure said the meeting was important to address all concerns of stakeholders before take-off of the project.

Olujimi represented by an engineer, Mr Rotimi Thomas said rehabilitation of Iwaya road “will terminate sufferings” on the axis while boosting economic and social activities because of the strategic location of the road which had degenerated.

He explained that a credible process was in place with collaborating sister agencies towards the relocation of services as well as Right of Way recovery for services and structures on the project path.

The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development represented by Mr Saheed Animashaun, a town planner stressed the need to seek the consent of residents on ‘Right of Way’ (RoW) recovery of the project.

“There is no way that some structures will not be removed but they will serve affected houses with notices. It is not immediately you are served that the structure will be removed,”he said.

He explained the process of evaluation and compensation as well as a seven days final notice before removal of structure on the RoW of the project

Presenting a brief the project, Mr Lateef Somide, the project supervisor said the strategic road starts from Onike and terminates at Makoko and was an access route to both the Third Mainland Bridge and UNILAG.

He said that the 1.4kms road awarded to Eastline Development Ltd, would have drains with covered slabs on both sides of the road to serve as walkways to residents.

“There will be relocation of services and it will be aligned with the road.

“And there will be longitudinal and transverse side ducts to prevent future cutting of the road to lay cables,”he said.

He explained that the area had high water table hence, the choice of interlocking stones as final layer to tackle previous problems of quick road degeneration.

He listed other accessories to be included on the road including a 24 hour lighting system.

In his remarks, chairman, Yaba LCDA, Mr Kayode Omiyale represented by Mr Lukam Thompson thanked the government for finally responding to the almost one year call; to fix the dilapidated road which had become an alternative route from gridlock.

Omiyale said that the road through Adekunle to Makoko was an easy link to the University of Lagos.

He thanked government for choice of construction materials meant to curb flooding of the road while calling for rehabilitation of other roads.

He also commended ongoing dredging of a canal on the axis which he noted would make the proposed construction the best durable choice to combat flooding.

He appealed that the only two inner roads in the area which were in deplorable conditions should be made motorable.

Contractors on the project promised to adopt construction methods that would bring minimum discomfort to the area as well as employment of some residents for site works.

Also residents on the axis took turns to thank the government for the project and raise concerns on the proposed construction.

Sanwo-Olu Moves To Get Justice For Victims Of SARS Brutality | AgegePulse Magazine

•Governor marches with protesters in Alausa, announces plan to compensate victims

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has activated the process of getting justice for the victims of brutality and extra-judicial actions allegedly committed the dissolved  Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday, said the State Government will be setting up a panel of enquiry that will comprise youth leaders appointed by EndSARS protesters, members of the public, Government officials and security agencies to look into the allegations of human rights abuses leveled against SARS operatives in Lagos.

The objective of the panel, the Governor said, is to bring indicted officers to book and get justice for victims of SARS operations.

Besides, Sanwo-Olu also set up a Trust Fund to compensate the families of the victims of police brutality in the State. The process of managing and disbursing the funds will be completely supervised by Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) appointed by members of the public, the Governor said.

Sanwo-Olu was addressing youths protesting against SARS’ excesses at the State House in Alausa. The protesters were led by Nollywood actors, musicians and comedians, including Debo Adebayo, popularly known as MC Macaroni, and Oluwatoyin Bayegun, also known as Woli Arole.

It was the second time in two days Sanwo-Olu would be meeting face-to-face with youths leading EndSARS protests. Yesterday, the Governor was at the Lekki Toll Plaza where protesters camped and blocked the expressway.

Sanwo-Olu said he identified with the protesters in their campaign against police brutality. He, however, pleaded with the aggrieved youths not to undermine the legitimacy of their grievances by being violent and destructive.

The protesters at Alausa handed a communique to the Governor, which detailed their five-point demand.

Sanwo-Olu said the  Government will be addressing three of the protesters’ demands that are within the purview of the State and promised to engage the President and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on the remaining demands.

The Governor said he would continue to engage the Federal Government to initiate reforms that will bring about the police force that will protect and respect the rights of the citizens.

He said: “I understand a lot of youths have been battered and maimed by the people who are supposed to protect you. I understand you all are feeling the pain of brutality, which is why you have been taking to streets to express your disappointment. Your voice has been heard loudly and actions have been taken from the highest office in the land to address your grievances. It is time to for us to move forward and engage further on your demand.

“There is a five-point demand which you have submitted to us today. You demanded for the release of all protesters arrested on Monday. All of them have been released unconditionally. You demanded we set up a meeting that will lead to the process of getting justice and compensation for the victims of SARS brutality. I have instructed the Ministry of Youth and Social Development to set up a panel of enquiry ASAP that will get justice for the victims.

“We request that any citizen who has had a fatal encounter with SARS in Lagos to come forward and bring their cases to the panel. We will get justice for them. I have also set up a trust fund for the compensation of all victims of SARS brutality. For those who have died, we will be reaching out to their families. We request you (the protesters) appoint your representatives into the panel and the Trust Fund for transparency.”

The Governor said the fourth and fifth points in the protesters’ demands, which border on police reforms and improved remuneration for police officers were not in the purview of the State. He, however, promised to personally deliver the message to President Buhari and the IGP.

Sanwo-Olu expressed concern over the violence that marred the EndSARS protest in Surulere on Monday when  a civilian and a police officer died. He said the State Government was investigating the matter, but pleaded with the protesters not to take the law into their own hands.

Sanwo-Olu told the demonstrators that he would be leaving the protest ground for Abuja to meet with President Buhari and the IGP as he had promised.

He said: “As I did promise you yesterday that I will be meeting with Mr. President today to physically present your demands to him. From this protest ground, I will be leaving for Abuja to meet with President Buhari and IGP. I will deliver your message and demands.”

Sanwo-Olu carried a placard and marched with the protesters.

How I Was Once harassed by SARS Operatives– Lagos Deputy Gov., Dr. Hamzat | AgegePulse Magazine

Lagos State deputy governor Obafemi Hamzat on Friday said he has also experienced harassment by the men of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS).

“This happened to me four years ago, I was going to Abule Odofin they were not in uniform they have guns and they just double-crossed us, of course, I was scared because if they were police wearing uniform I won’t be scared and they harassed us,” Hamzat said while addressing #EndSARS protesters in Alausa, Lagos.

“Every decent Nigerian will be upset.”

The deputy governor further stated that it is expected that every Nigerian should be outraged by the activities of this police unit.

He said before the protest commenced, the state government has had meetings with the Inspector general of the police of the extrajudicial activities of SARS.

He said they have demanded that the force puts an end to the harassment and profiling of young Nigerians as criminals because of their looks and owning a phone or laptop.

The deputy governor stated that the IGP has been asked to prosecute officers involved in unlawful activities.

Protests against police brutality and calls for the end of FSARS have been taking place since Wednesday across Nigeria.

Nigeria @60: The Right Time To Break Up Or Adopt Swiss Style Of Govt | AgegePulse Magazine

By Jumu'ah Abiodun

As some Nigerian leaders and Nigerians home and abroad celebrated the Diamond Jubilee of the country Thursday, October 1st, 2020, I think this is the right time for the country to 'Break Up' or the Swiss style of governance should be adopted.

For those who are not students of history, let me give you a brief background of how the country called Nigeria was formed. In 1851, the British government forcefully invaded Lagos and by 1865 they formally annexed it. On September 25th, 1912, the British government returned former Governor-General of Nigeria, Sir Frederick John Lugard back to Lagos with the aim of amalgamating the people of Lagos Colony and Protectorate of Northern Nigeria.

In 1914, Southern Nigeria was joined with Northern Nigeria Protectorate to form the single colony of Nigeria by John Lugard a British soldier. The unification was done for economic reasons rather than political—Northern Nigeria Protectorate had continuous budget deficit; and the colonial administration sought to use the budget surpluses in Southern Nigeria to offset this deficit. However, we gained our independence on October 1st, 1960, and eventually became a 'Republic' in 1963.

In July 6, 1967, after a peace conference hosted in Ghana by General Joseph Ankrah, Nigerian military leadership came back, late Lieutenant-Colonel Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, then declared Eastern Nigeria as a sovereign state of Biafra from Nigeria which led to the three years of civil war.

In January 1969, during this war, the two factions agreed to a 48-hour ceasefire to watch Brazilian legend, Edson Arantes do Nascimento (Pelé) play an exhibition game in Lagos. The match between Santos of Brazil ended in 2-2 draw with Lagos based Stationery Stores FC and Pelé scored both goals of his team. The war continue barely 24hrs after the match. Indeed, football unites the world. After the civil war ended in January 15, 1970, it is on record that this war was one of the most bloody in Africa.

Between then and up till when General Sani Abacha died in 1998, the country struggled with Coup due tats, seizure of power by military regimes, annulment of an election (June 12, 1993), among many other challenges.

By and large, looking at the whole scenario, Nigerians have only been recycling the same set of leaders we have had between 1979 till we grabbed 'Democracy' due to the death of Abacha.

After good twenty years of 'Democracy', 'Freedom of the Press' is still nowhere to be found; what you see in Nigeria today is, police or military brutalizing journalists, the kidnapping of journalists, killing of journalists. In Nigeria, journalists cannot even cover protests peacefully due to security agencies' brutalization. When you expose a public officeholder of their corrupt act then that becomes a problem, because you start running helter-skelter for your life.

What a shameless country we are? Some people will start defending the government or the say of 'Do you know where the US and the rest were during their sixty anniversaries? That's a wrong notion, this is the 21st century for God's sake, we need to move forward with time and don't need to re-invent the wheel. This is a century of artificial intelligence(AI), countries are developing at a very fast pace due to technology.

Let us take a look at our contemporary in terms of Independence, at sixty, Nigeria does not have a single national carrier despite this present administration spending over N1 billion on 'Business Plan, Design Logo and London Launch of a new airline. Coincidentally, this writer was in the UK during the launching in 2018, where I told my friends categorically that the funds for the project would be diverted and shared among Government officials. This eventually happened.

The then Minister of State Transportation (Aviation) now Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, was allegedly accused of siphoning over N1.2 billion on a phoney Nigeria Air project which was eventually suspended by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Today, South Africa Airways waxing stronger with 16 fleet size, 10, 071 employees; Kenya got independence three years after Nigeria, December 12, 1963, the East African country is enjoying her 40 fleet size that's flying to over 50 destinations in the world.

Another East African country, Ethiopia is doing fantastically well with her Ethiopian Airlines of 125 fleet size and flies to 125 destinations (passenger); 44 (cargo). Ditto for Rwanda Air a company owned by the government commenced operation April 27, 2003, now expanding it's business base with 12 fleet size and flying to 29 destinations in the world, also sponsors Arsenal FC of England. Rwanda gained independence July 1, 1962.

Egypt (EgyptAir), Morocco (Royal Air Maroc), Algeria (Air Algerie) and Qatar (Qatar Airways) are expanding their business coast with 69 fleet size and 9,000 employees, 60 fleet size to 103 destinations, 56 fleet size to 75 destinations and 237 fleet size to 172 destinations of the world respectively.

Nigeria as a nation, we still has a long, long way to go. Agreed that Rome was not built in a day, but our twenty years of 'Democracy' was spent on religious sentiments, tribalism, nepotism, hypocrisy, votes buying, looting and looting and more looting by public officeholders. Instead of facing the work of governance, the leaders continue to blame previous administrations for cheap political discussion.

Comparing fuel price in Nigeria to other parts of the world is a 'wrong shot' by the Presidency, standard of living in Saudi Arabia is far better than the one of Nigeria, their minimum wage is 10x of Nigeria's N30,000.

During the global lockdown effected by the novel Coronavirus pandemic, a pastor whose Church is not up to two plots of land in Ikeja bought a house of over N300 million at around Agege, a suburb area of Lagos state. The man of God (like religious believers call them) bought another land beside the house at about N30 million. These are the people that preach to their congregations that this life is "vanity upon vanity".

The pastor has a white 'Limousine' he has parked in his compound for more than four months, has a 'Rolls Royce' which he barely use, a 'Hummer H2' with bad tyres, brand new Toyota Land Cruiser and other exotic cars. Yet their congregations continue to suffer throughout the global lockdown.

We have seen so many cases which include the story of 'The Man Killed Himself And Ran Away' an ex-Governor story, hundreds of public officeholders who stole billions of dollars still walking freely and enjoying protection in Nigeria. One ex-Senator just recently bought a $1 million 'Lamborghini Aventador Roadster'.

During the lockdown that I wrote an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari to provide a sincere and genuine palliative for Nigerians, I stated it then clearly that the school feeding program embarked upon by the Minister is a way of siphoning public funds but Mr President did not listen to my advice. A few days ago, Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) discovered over N2.67 billion school feeding funds diverted to several personal accounts.

We all have seen where very few people from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) shared a whopping N1.32 billion among themselves as COVID-19 palliative when a common man cannot even afford a daily meal during the lockdown.

As an oil-producing state with over 2.5 million per barrels of crude oil on a daily basis, Nigeria ranks as Africa's largest producer of oil and sixth in the world. The country has the largest number of people living in extreme poverty in the world. Statistics by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) recently show that over 83 million Nigerians endure extreme poverty. In fact, this is increasing on a daily basis, the unemployment rate stands at around 27.1%, and a significant portion of Nigerians lack basic education.

The inflation rate jumps to 13.39% as border closure bites harder, bank interest rate now vary between 11.5% to 12.5%.

In the 21st century, you hardly see a government owned unrestricted wifi to connect to at Nigeria International airports when the telecommunications companies can't even make an N5,000 plan for national calls with 500 free SMS per month. Even when you buy big data, the network melts it off like oil inside fire.

If we really want to be one, my advice will be good for the peace of the country, there's an urgent need for any government who want peace and want to end corruption to stop 'Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF)' with immediate effect because those in the West don't buy 'Yam, Onions and Pepper' same price as they sell in the North, so why paying for PEF. PEF is just a fraudulent policy with which public office holders are using to siphon public funds.

Another loophole left open for the stealing of funds is the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). In the first place, for whatever reason NDDC might have been created, it's clearly unnecessary. Construction or rehabilitation of Roads in the region, ministry of Works should do that. Cleaning of the Ogoni oil spill, the ministry of Environment fits in.

Should we still have PEF and NDDC in this country, then this is the best time we should break up. Over the years, different lawmakers from Lagos have pushed on the floor of the national assembly for a 'Special Status' for the state, the selfish lawmakers refused to let that sail through. To make it clear, PEF is an avenue of generating funds for the political class in the North and NDDC is purely directed at Southern Nigeria for their own share of the national cake, the government doesn't have any agenda for the West.

My fellow Nigerians, our system is already collapsing, our economy is retrogressing, corruption is taking center stage in the country. In fact, I'm more than surprise, despite hundreds of professors of economics in Nigeria, our government still don't know the true meaning of the devaluation of currency. Maybe they need a layman's definition of devaluation of currency to be able to understand the term.

For me, there's no sense in Nigeria's constitution that asserts that there must be at least a Cabinet member from each of the 36 states, though, the ministries are 28 but now to create space for more political loyalists and those who lose during their various elections are considered too. As at the time of writing this article, Nigeria has over 40 ministers.

There's nothing wrong if the Minister of Justice & Attorney General manage or oversees ministries of Defence and Police Affairs, the ministry of Foreign Affairs can be merged with Special Duties & International Affairs.

What sense does it make when we have ministries of Science and Technology; Mines and Steel Development; Education. Merging these ministries together will go a long way in reducing the cost of governance, Science & Technology and Mines & Technology should be under Education.

There's nothing wrong if we can merge ministries of Environment, Water Resources and Health. The combination of these three into one entity would be fantastic.

Ministry of Labour & Employment can be merged with Agriculture & Rural Development. Communication and Information can be together while Culture goes to Education.

Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning can be merged with Humanitarian, Disaster Management and Social Development. While the ministries of Women Affairs and Niger Delta should be scrap.

Ministries of Petroleum, Aviation and Transportation can be one, there's no sense in separating these three while Power, Works and Housing should be returned as one. Ministry of Federal Capital Territory can as well be integrated into the ministry of Interior.

Breaking up of Nigeria should be an easy transition of government because each region knows where it belongs.

Let me take you on a tour of how few world powerful countries broke up without war:

For instance, the Communist structures in Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, and the big brother, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), all collapsed, while the two Germanys that are ethnically the same but split by communism vs capitalism were reunited October 3, 1990. Such is the power of ethnic nationalism.

According to my investigations, the former Central European country, Czechoslovakia was made up of ten ethnic groups, the two major are the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Both separated peacefully on January 1st, 1993. The former is today 10.69 million people and the latter 5.458 million. Added together, they're not up to Lagos. Other ethnic groups include Hungarians 3.8%, Romani people 0.7%, Silesians 0.3% while Ruthenes, Ukrainians, Germans, Poles and Jews made up the remainder of the population. Yet, they split for peace. The country called Czechoslovakia was then dissolved on January 1, 1993, after 75 years of existence, just 15 years older than Nigeria.

To break up should be as easy as 'ABC' because, In 1991, the Yugoslavia, a country with predominantly Muslims alongside Roman Catholicism, Judaism, Protestantism, as well as various Eastern Orthodox faith population then was 23.23 million, not up to Lagos population. It broke into six countries same year - all along ethnic lines, namely: Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia there was no war.

This happened along with two autonomous provinces within Serbia which are Vojvodina and Kosovo. The country called the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was dissolved in 1992 after 47 years of existence which means Nigeria is currently 13 years older than that.

The Switzerland style of government:

Switzerland has four major political parties since 1959, these parties will form cantons, Federal Council which will consist of German: Bundesrat, French: Conseil federal, Italian: Consiglio federal and Romansh: Cussegl federal who has just a few thousands of speakers. The seven-member executive council that constitutes the federal government of the Confederation and serves as the collective head of states and government.

Should we still decide to live together as one Nigeria, the only way forward to peaceful and united Nigeria is to adopt Switzerland's style of government where each of the seven major ethnic groups rotates the position of 'President' annually.

The position of President of Switzerland rotates among the seven councillors on a yearly basis, with one year's Vice President of the Federal Council becoming the next year's President.

By adopting this, Nigeria as a nation will then become a decent society where we can spend less on governance. Each President knowss his tenure ends every December 31st of every year.

“There is need for all health workers to be prepared for any emerging infectious diseases and ensure they keep all necessary precautions while attending to patients”, he said.

The Director, Medical Administration and Training, Dr. Funmilayo Shokunbi who appreciated the facilitators and the participants noted that the Ministry still has six more series  of the CME programs lined up to be done during the year to increase knowledge and capacity of health workers.

The chairman of PJAN, Mr Abiodun Ajala in a statement said that it has become one incident too many on the part of the police to attack members of the forth estate of the realm during protests.
