AGEGE LG, MULTIPURPOSE HALL, ANOTHER MAGIC OF EGUNJOBI LEADERSHIP PROWESS

AgegePulse Magazine

Great leaders believes "what they do has far greater impact than what they say,” and if the saying of Peter Drucker, an Austrian American management consultant, educator, and author is anything to espouse, that  "Effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked, leadership is defined by results not attributes, then High Chief Kola Egunjobi the Executive Chairman of  Agege Local Government has signed his name boldly on the rock of leadership accomplishment considering his achievement as the No 1 citizen of Agege Local Government.
AGEGE LG, MULTIPURPOSE HALL, ANOTHER MAGIC OF EGUNJOBI LEADERSHIP PROWESS

The Newest of such momentous accomplishment is the construction of the well equipped ultra-modern hall of not lesser than 1500 guests capacity,  making it a dreamland for programs, like social events,  political and governmental gatherings of all kinds under an ultraquiet atmosphere as it proved its magnitudes during the just concluded Lagos State House of Assembly stakeholder meeting of the 9th Assembly, hosted by Rt. Hon Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, the Speaker Lagos State House of Assembly!

The construction of the magnificent edifice is another silent magic of the Egunjobi's leadership prowess, in divergent to other administration, where lot of needless publicity would precede the construction of the multimillion Naira gangatic monument within the premises of Agege local government secretariat. The Multipurpose hall is another of Egunjobi administration drive to boost the socio and economy  value of the local council, as the administration
has brought about tremendous developments in Agege Local Government, which is unarguably unprecedented.

The administration of High Chief Ganiu Kola Egunjobi, the Otun of Egba  is still on record as the first Local Government in Nigeria to have constructed and fully equipped a jamb accredited CBT center for easy access of Agege intending undergraduates.

Egunjobi's achievement are quite numerous in every sector of administration, but let me note just a little as this platform may not condole all.....

( _Egunjobi's confirmed achievements was culled  from Muyiwa Linkinyo's writeup, "EGUNJOBI THE SILENT ACHIEVER" )_

Education and Empowerment: Provision of 4 coaster buses for public primary and secondary schools, enrollment of over 325 youths for JAMB, and several others for skills acquisition programs. And most recently, the distribution of free 100,000 exercise Notebooks to all pupils/students in primary and junior Secondary schools within the Council purview. : It should also be noted that the Administration of Hon Egunjobi,is at the verge of giving out 5000 units of school uniforms to indigent pupils in all public owned primary schools within Agege council area. The contract which was awarded to the Lagos State Tailors Association, Agege Chapter, under the leadership of Mr. Adeoshun, who assured that the delivery of the free school uniforms will commence anytime soon.
Infrastructure Development: Construction of roads, boreholes, renovations of some public owned primary schools and health centers across Agege Council area.

*Health and Wellness: Construction of fitness centers and provision of free ambulance services to aid sound health care delivery in the local government.
-
Community Development: Complete facelift of the Council Secretariat, including the Marriage Registry, and construction of a statue symbolizing the community's heritage .

Security and Safety:
-To complement the security apparatus put in place to ensure the safety of lives and properties, the Egunjobi led government, established the Paramole Security outfit to support community policing, and report crimes and criminalities to authorities saddles with such responsibilities.
- Welfare of Residents:
- It's on record that since the inception of the Hon Ganiyu Egunjobi administration, several thousands of residents have benefitted from his monthly business cash support initiative of N100,000 to support businesses and households.

The Otun Egba's administration , despite winning down the curtain is still highly committed to the to the upliftment of his people, No wonder he's admired by them, despite the hate campaign against him by agent of distractors and enemies of progressiveness  who are jealous of his remarkable achievements !

Lagos Lawmakers Seek Collaboration To End Food Insecurity

... as council chairman wants subsidy on agric products

Lawmakers of the Lagos State House of Assembly on Friday held simultaneous stakeholders' meetings with their constituents with renewed commitments to boost food security and sufficiency in the state.

They also called for collaboration by the stakeholders to end food insecurity.

Speaking in his Agege Constituency 1, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, identified food insecurity as a multi-faceted challenge requiring the efforts of the government and the people to resolve.

This year's stakeholders' meeting is the ninth in the series and has the theme: 'Ensuring Food Security for Sustainable Future: Youth Participation and Home-Grown Farming'.

Dr. Obasa said the Lagos Assembly was committed to ensuring food security in line with the United Nation's sustainable

development goals of eradication of poverty.

"We at the Lagos State House of Assembly are committed to making Lagos an producing state and not just a consuming state in the agriculture value chain to tackle the present-day reality of food insufficiency.

"Our commitment is exemplified through transformational laws and policy supervision in the agricultural sector," he said noting that with the collaboration of the Assembly, the government of the state has made giant strides in the agriculture sector.

He listed some of the agricultural initiatives to include the setting up of the 34-hectare Ikorodu Fish

Farm Estate which has the capacity to produce and

process 10,000 tons of fish per year partnering

with 400 fish farmers in the State

He mentioned the AGRIC-YES

programme and "the Oke-Aro and Gberigbe Pig Farm Estates that currently partners with 1,200 farmers and have the capacity of housing and processing 88,000 mature pigs per annum.

"It is important to reiterate that, on our part as lawmakers, we have also created an enabling

environment for farming activities to thrive in the state,

particularly through the passage of anti-open grazing of livestock Law in September, 2021."

He said to achieve food sufficiency, farming capacity needs to be widened while residents should consider animal husbandry.

In his opening remarks, the chairman of Agege Local Government Area, Ganiyu Egunjobi, identified insecurity and non-availability of low interest loan for the youth population as responsible for the food crisis.

"This meeting cannot come at a better time. The problem responsible for the food shortage are many among which are insecurity that has prevented many farmers from accessing their farms. Farming in Nigeria is no longer attractive to the teeming youths.

"I want to suggest to the government at all levels to subsidise farming and also give loans at very low interest to farmers. The government should also improve on existing physical infrastructures in farming communities that would discourage urban migration and encourage youths to embrace farming. Farming and youth unemployment are recurring issues which require multidimensional interventions to tackle," he said.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Akinyemi Olusegun of the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture, urged the youths and residents in the state to engage in urban farming.

"In Lagos, we are more than 22 million and as a result we have a huge need for food. People want to eat and engage in food business," he said urging youths to focus on home-grown farming.

Egunjobi Calls for Subsidized Farming, Encourages Youth Participation

By Yomi Durojaye

The Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government, High Chief (Alh) Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi (JP), has called on the government at all level to subsidize farming, and encouraged the youths to embrace farming as the panacea for food security.

Egunjobi

The council chairman stated this in his welcome address at the Lagos State House of Assembly Stakeholders meeting held on Friday, 11 October, 2024, at the council's newly built event centre in the Secretariat.

"May I welcome you all to this year's edition of Constituency Stakeholders' Meeting, an event put in place by the Lagos State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Mudasiru Ajayi Obasa  to gather together stakeholders across all the 57 council areas to deliberate on specific issues.

The purpose of the programme is to enable the state lawmakers to make informed decisions as regards governance.

This year's theme is: Ensuring Food For a Sustainable Future: Youth Participation And Home Grown Farming.

The idea of deliberating on the need for Nigerian youths to go into farming could not come at a better time.

Food insecurity remains one of  the country's challenges.

The problems responsible for this are many.

Among them are: insecurity that has to do with too many ungoverned areas in the country, which makes farmers target of kidnaps and ritual killings.

The list which cannot be exhausted also includes the fact that most farmers in Nigeria are into subsistence farming rather than mechanised farming, and the near absence of infrastructure most especially in matters of agricultural value chain.

Farming in Nigeria is equally not attractive to the teeming youths.

My suggestion that would get us out of the woods is for government at all levels to subsidize farming hugely.

Access to credit to farmers should not only be as easy as pie, it should also be given at a very low-interest rate.

Government should also  improve on existing physical infrastructures in farming communities that would discourage urban migration and encourage youths to embrace farming.

By taking those steps, Nigeria would attain food security while joblessness that is currently afflicting the country's youths would be a thing of the past.

To me, the issue of farming and youth unemployment is a burning issue, which requires all stakeholders' contributions.

Please, you are all welcome to have the floor."

Lagos SUBEB Board Member, Sherifat Adedoyin, ES, Mrs. Ogunyomi Eulogise Egunjobi Over Investment On Education

Yomi Durojaye

Member of Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Sherifat Adedoyin and the Education Secretary, Agege LGEA, Mrs. CM Ogunyomi both has hailed the Agege LG Council Chairman, Hon. Alhaji Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi, JP on his investments on Education.

Lagos SUBEB Board Member, Sherifat Adedoyin, ES, Mrs. Ogunyomi Eulogise Egunjobi Over Investment On Education

Speaking at the flag off campaign of the distribution of 100,000 note books and 5000 uniforms to students in government-owned primary and secondary schools located within our community, the Executive Chairman outlined his administration's interventions in the educational sector in the last seven years. "We have built classrooms, toilets and carried out renovation at some of the 26 primary  schools owned by government in our council area.

"On my watch, the council in the last few years provided four shuttle buses to convey pupils of public schools in the area to their various schools and return them after closing.

"On many occasions, the council distributed chairs, tables to government-owned schools, writing materials, school bags and uniforms to their pupils.

"It may interest you to know that the uniforms, chairs and tables were made by tailors, and furniture makers respectively residing in our area.

"The same as school bags, which the contract to make them was awarded to those in the business in our midst.

"Our decision to award the contract for those uniforms, chairs, tables and bags to local contractors is one of our ways of empowering our artisans and boosting the economy of our community.

"To the credit of my regime, with the aim of giving students from our area easy access to modern examination centre, we built a Computer-Based Test, CBT centre, a project never done before by any local government administration in the country.

"In the same vein, we now have in place an e-library while our vocational training centre continues to turn out hundreds of graduates.

"It's our habit to buy in large number JAMB and GCE forms for free distribution to indigent students. Egunjobi concluded.

A SUBEB permanent Member, Adedoyin said, even a free pen at this critical time is  a relief to parent not to talk of hundreds of thousands of Notebooks and uniforms, this is a laudable one.

A right intervention in a right time, said the Education Secretary, Mrs. CM Ogunyomi following what we have witnessed as school resumes few weeks ago.

She said some parents could not feed their wards properly not to talk of buying learning materials for their children.

"This intervention is not the first and will never be the last, thank you Mr. Chairman Sir", said Ogunyomi

AgegePulse learnt that the distribution will commence tomorrow 24th September, 2024

Infrastructure:  Ashaolu  Residents Extol  Agege Council Chairman Over Road Construction

Prior to the construction, the street had never gotten the attention of necessary agencies for over decades, this has left the people living in this community to be left out of hope and help any time it rains.

AgegePulse Magazine during its special report, had a brief interview with some residents of the street, praised the Government, particularly the Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi led administration in Agege for deeming it fit to  site such laudable construction in their Street.

Infrastructure:  Ashaolu  Residents Extol  Agege Council Chairman Over Road Construction

"The job done at the street met the required standard, the roads are well constructed with covered spacious drainage that can comfortably stand the test of time, when it comes to flooding, particularly during the rainy season, which has primarily been one of the major prayers of the residents before now, the asphalt are well laid and marked radiating like a polished terrazzo". One of the residents said.

"Shola Ahmed, a resident said the beauty of the work usually comes up at night when the solar lights illuminate at night, the community becomes like a small London, this is a promise mad and promise delivered by the council Chairman".

Residents were advised to take full ownership and responsibilities of these assets because some unscrupulous elements may take joy in destroying some of these laudable projects for selfish interest in the name of vandals, which will rob the users of the gain and benefit they may derive from these projects.

It was learnt that, the road was delivered with a drainage system, and a full lighting system for the good people of Ashaolu Street of Keke, Agege.

NewYear2024: Egunjobi assures residents of more dividends, calls for support

NewYear2024: Egunjobi assures residents of more dividends, calls for support

Dear constituents,

As we mark the beginning of the year 2024 today, we give glory and adoration to the Almighty for His abundant blessings and mercy over us.

NewYear2024: Egunjobi assures residents of more dividends, calls for support

Many could not witness this day, not because we are better than them, but by His grace.  The best way to appreciate Him is for us all to forgive one another and live harmoniously with helping hands.

In the year 2023, the council under my watch did not relent in its efforts to ensure we give the people of the council area enabling environment to strive in all spheres of live viz:

*Education:*

In a bid to lessen the burden of Agege Secondary School students as well as improved their performances in JAMB, WAEC and other Computer Base Test (CBT) Examinations, Agege Local Government council built a state of the art CBT Centre in Iloro Maternity Centre making us the first and only Local Government among the 774 Local Governments of Nigeria to do so.

My administration also distributed free exercise books to all public primary school pupils as palliative support for the parents.

The council's transportation intervention scheme aimed at assisting parents to transport pupils of public schools has been ongoing unhitched, and we would consolidate in the gains to ensure our leaders of tomorrow have easy transportation and for timely resumption of classes.

*Environmental:*

The environment department, throughout the year, embarked on vigorous sensitization for the residents to maintain hazard free environment, evacuated blocked drainage channels across the council area.

*Socio-economy:*

My administration took upon itself to seize criminals hideouts in the council area to better the lots of residents, thereby boost the economy, which led to the transformation of Moshalashi Alhaja 'Evil's nest' market into a standard and modern market and relabeled: Alhaja Taibat Bukonla Obasa Modern Market for the residents and stakeholders.

*Health:*

In a bid to meet up with emergency response device delivery, my administration procured three (3) ambulance vehicles, which have been positioned at strategic locations within the council area for the people of Agege to get easy access and quick response to medical attention when needed.

*Social Welfare:*

a. It is on record that over one thousand (1,000) persons have so far benefited from the N100,000 monthly financial empowerment programme for residents of the council area, particularly, the youths to enable them startup/boost a Small Scale Entrepreneurship (SME) in Agege. This is promised to be a continuous exercise as we continue to assist the needy at all times.

b. *Fuel Subsidy removal palliative:*

It is worthy to note that, in consonance with the directive of Mr. President  and the Governor of Lagos State to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal, my administration distributed food materials through the committee comprising of Agege Community Development Council, League of Imams, Christian Association of Nigeria, Market leaders, Nigeria Union of Teachers and  the leadership of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Agege Local Branch to ensure that the food palliatives gets to the targeted vulnerable within Agege community. This gained more accolades from residents and stakeholders respectively.

c. Welfare of the council staff, management and non-management are well taken care of, including the councilors and the cabinet members.

*Security:*

In order to strengthen the council's synergy with stakeholders and security agencies, gave birth to the newly launched Agege Security outfit, otherwise known and called "PARAMOLE". This initiative was aimed providing more intelligence gathering to aid the state security agencies to tackle and curb security challenges within the council area.  This has generated meaningful employment for not less than fifty (50) youths in the council area.

*Infrastructure:*

All the existing roads under construction would be completed soonest and many roads with the council area would get facelifts.  We shall newly construct roads, such as: Ajakaiye/Elicana street, Arigidi/Adegbola/Sonaiya streets with concrete drainage walls with street lights to be installed.

Asphaltic surfacing of Ashaolu Street with both sides RC drainage wall including street lights would put in place this year..

The council shall embark on reconstruction of Creche building at Maternity PHC in Agege Local Government council area.

Akerele Street inward Oniwaya road by Agege main market would be constructed as well. We shall equally construct a storey building office complex at Ijaye Road.

I therefore, implore all residents and stakeholders to give maximum support to the government at all level as that is the only way the renewed hope of Mr. President can collectively be achieved.

Let me use this medium to reassure you all that my administration will stop at nothing to ensure that the good people of the council area enjoy enabling environment to strive in all their respective endeavours.   No doubt, this year would certainly be better for us all, amen.

On behalf of The Executive Council, Legislative Members and The Entire Management Staff, I wish you all a  Happy New Year.

Signed:

*High Chief (Alh) Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi (JP)*

Why We Inaugurated Agege Crime Fighter "Paramole" - Egunjobi, Gbenga Abiola

AgegePulse Magazine

The Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government, High Chief Alhaji Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi, JP has expressed the real initiatives behind the Community Security Outfit Paramole Inaugurated at the council area yesterday.
Why We Inaugurated Agege Crime Fighter "Paramole" - Egunjobi, Gbenga Abiola

Egunjobi stated that, the prevailing sorry state of affairs in respect of securing Nigeria and Nigerians are the consequences of youth restiveness, high unemployment rate among youths, inadequate security officers and low usage of technology.

"Their responsibility (Paramole) is to laise with the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps and the Police as regards information sharing , dissemination and possible arrest of criminals within Agege".

"Kindly spare me few minutes to recount the genesis of what will now be known in Lagos as Agege Crime Fighters or Pàràmòlè.

"Sometime early this year my mentor and leader, Rt. Hon. Mudasiru Ajayi Obasa talked me and my counterpart, Hon. Johnson Babatunde into the idea of establishing a community's security group to stem the growing tide of crime in our areas and the rest is history".

"On my watch, Agege Local Government has been trying to address those issues, for many reasons including making our community more secured because *an idle mind is the devil's workshop* . Owò tò dì lè nì ròŕè n sò!

"Over 250 others are on the council's payroll, receiving N10,000 each every month and encouraged to engage in noble cause.

"Through the newborn Agege Crime Fighters, the council has employed 50 persons to complement regular security operatives in order to make our community a safer place.

According to him, the recruits placed on monthly salary underwent security training for months. They will have at their disposal two buses, four motorcycles and ten bicycles for patrol while they're not allowed to bear arms in any form.

In a brief interview with the Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon. Gbenga Abiola Agbelebu who also dressed in the security outfit stated that, "the Security outfit is being created to assist the Nigerian Police Force and other security agencies on information, gathering , dissemination and ameliorating criminal activities within Agege Local Government.

"Remember that some Years ago, Agege Local Government started a deradicalization program for about 300 youths as we engage them in several vocations , training and re orientation with monthly stipend on those who are ready to be part of the deradicalization process".

"They will be supervised by other Para military agency headed by the Nigerian Police force and properly profiled by the Department of Secrete Service ( DSS ) amongst others.

The foundational ideology of this is dedicated towards mopping all nooks and crannies of Agege clean and clear of criminals and deradicalizing those who are willing to change by giving them an opportunity to turn a new leave.

"Agege Local Government will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that we bring serenity,  safety and provide the structure for a more secure Agege". Agbelebu concluded

Jubilation As Sanwo-Olu Unveils Pen Cinema FlyOver | AgegePulse Magazine

…Tinubu: ‘I’m Proud, Sanwo-Olu Has Shown Excellent Results’

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu flanked by Gov. Sanwo-Olu and Obasa at theach official opening of Pen Cinema Bridge

…Five Arterial Roads Network Completed In Agege, Also Commissioned

The long-sought relief from choking vehicular gridlocks has finally come the way of residents in the Agege-Abule Egba axis of Lagos State. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday, unveiled Pen Cinema Bridge and five arterial road networks in the area, formally opening the infrastructure for public use.

The commissioning marked fulfilment of another campaign promise made by Sanwo-Olu to residents, who daily endured pain in commuting within the axis in the last four years.

All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had the honour to inaugurate the projects, which he described as “needed catalyst” for the resuscitation of economic activities on the axis.

The construction of the 1.4-kilometre long flyover was part of the recommendation at the Lagos Economic Summit (Ehingbeti) under ex-Governor Babatunde Fashola’s administration, as a strategic intervention to achieving significant traffic improvement in the densely populated area. The last administration created the right-of-way and set up the structural beams; Governor Sanwo-Olu substantially completed civil works on the bridge.

The imposing overpass ascends from Oba Ogunji Road and drops at Oke Koto area of Agege. The bridge also opens to the old Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway through Abule Egba.

Tumultuous crowd of joyous residents joined Gov. Sanwo-Olu and members of the State’s cabinet in handing over the bridge for public use.

The Governor described the delivery of the project as a “landmark progress” in the State Government’s drive towards eliminating bottlenecks causing suffocating gridlocks and relieving residents of stress associated with commuting on roads.

Sanwo-Olu said the two-pronged approach, which his administration deployed to deliver critical infrastructure, gave priority to continuation and completion of strategic projects, regular maintenance and construction of new ones in line with the State’s Strategic Transport Master Plan (STMP).

He said his Government decided to continue the project, because it was in tune with the first pillar of his administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda, which targets the provision of roads for expedited economic growth and seamless mobility.

He said: “I am delighted to stand before Lagosians today to celebrate the delivery of this landmark project, which again, reflects our administration’s belief in the principle of continuity in governance and demonstrates our commitment to the urgency of infrastructure development and the welfare of our people. The completion of this flyover and five network of roads sends a strong message about our determination to accelerate our futuristic vision for a world class transportation system complemented by a good network of roads for social and economic transformation.

“In order to address the challenge of huge traffic burden, the immediate past administration initiated and commenced the construction of a precast and pre-stressed reinforced concrete of 1.4km dual-carriage flyover and ramp, with road works across the Agege-Pen Cinema Intersection. As of May 2019 when this administration was inaugurated, this project was at about 20 per cent progress. With the delivery of this bridge, which is complemented with traffic signalisation and drainage channels, we have resolved the perennial traffic arising from huge human and vehicular movement from Agege-Pen Cinema Intersection towards Abule Egba, Fagba, Oke Koto and Iyana Ipaja.”

To achieve a quick turnaround in commuting on the bridge, Sanwo-Olu disclosed that his Government identified and reconstructed five strategic arterial roads with good connectivity to adjoining roads that could serve as alternative bypasses to other routes in periods of heavy traffic.

The Governor said since road transportation remained crucial to economic growth and physical development, he believed the project would inject more life into socio-economic activities of people living and doing business in the area.

He said: “A key outcome from the strategic execution of this magnificent Pen Cinema Flyover project is that our administration has again demonstrated the priority it accords to the wellbeing of our people. It is a true test of our commitment to the Greater Lagos vision and a reflection of the achievability of our audacious socio-economic goals. In the course of implementing this project, we created jobs for about 380 people including engineers, supervisors, artisans and others- a clear indicator of the nexus between infrastructure development and employment generation.”

Sanwo-Olu pledged that his administration would not relent in provision of infrastructure for coordinated and sustainable development that would help to improve the State’s performance on the Ease of Doing Business index.

Tinubu expressed confidence in Sanwo-Olu’s leadership, noting that the Governor had stabilised and brought Lagos back on a focused journey, despite economic turbulence occasioned by Coronavirus (COVID-19) and coordinated destruction of the State’s assets.

The APC National Leader, who described Sanwo-Olu as “a brilliant captain”, praised the collaboration between the executive and the legislative arms in the State.

He said: “This is a commendable achievement by Sanwo-Olu, who has further brought Lagos on the path of progress, given the economic resuscitation this infrastructure will bring on this axis and entire Lagos. May you continue to think and perform to demonstrate excellent results as you have done today.”

Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Aramide Adeyoye, said the axis on which the flyover is sited is one of the busiest in vehicular activities in Lagos, saying the bridge would bring back convenience to millions of residents commuting in the area.

She said: “The entire project consists of a dual carriageway, with a bridge component of two lanes with 3.65 cm width in either direction. The road component consists of service lanes on either side of the bridge with median, kerbs and walkways that are complete with signalised traffic system. There are junction improvements with LED streetlight features.”

Speaker, Lagos House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, who represents Agege in the Assembly, described Governor Sanwo-Olu as “a proactive, wonderful performer”, who always accomplishes any projects he promises.

The adjoining roads commissioned with the flyover are Iju Road, Oba Ogunji Road, Agunbiade Road, Oke Koto Intersection and Iyana Ipaja link road.
