Who are the Asade Family of Lagos? | AgegePulse Magazine

Ogba is an  ancient town in the old colony province of western Nigeria now Lagos State of Nigeria.

Ogba was founded by one prince Owoeni Asade and was a prince from Ile -Ife who left Ile -Ife in the late seventeenth Century, settled down briefly at Iseyin from where he moved to Afon town where his brother , an Ifa priest Consulted his  Ifa  oracle and they were  advised to  move  downward  and which is now Ota township.


They settle down at Ota in Osi quarters where  they met  their  relatives in IIoti quarters  with Osi palace Ota , which is now known and called Onikosi palace Ota . In the early eighteenth century , they went on hunting expedition with their brothers who founded the present day Orile Agege and they moved upward and settled down at the present day Ogbaland . In 1840 or there about during the Dahomey  war , Owoeni Asade and his brother moved to Ado -Odo where Arola Asade was born .


Both the father and son came back to Ogba in the year 1860 Owoeni Asade died in year 1876.Prince Arola Asade took over the reign of obaship of Ogbaland in the year 1880 and become so popular and commanded respect in all the Awori towns and environs , the then British Governor of Lagos crown colony Mr . Glover honoured Oba Asade with the British flag and he was being paid a stipend amount of thirty (30) shilling monthly.


The only Crown surveyor , Chief Herbert Macaulay of blessed memory in the year 1896,surveyed the area controlled by Oba Arola Asade. The area include the present Alausa formally Tappa village where the Lagos State secretariat  stands  today,Agindigbi, Adekunle , Oloti , Operekete , Jaguna,  Abule George, Ijaiye and part of Aguda Ogba town and the half of the present Agege town according to intelligent report of 1935 giving half of the present Agege station town to Ogba people.

 

When Arola Asade settled down, he was joined by Chief Madarikan who was a little nephew to Ebo Aweri,Wife of Arola Asade as tradition and customs in those days to see off a wife to her husband house and Chief Akilo from Ota, Chief Ajai Ofe from Ewu, chief Adarijo from Igbesa ,Chief Salawu from Ilorin and chief Akingbade from Ota . He was later joined by Ogabis, Ogunji Ajaguna’s all from Ota and Majaros, who own ¾ part of Ajegunle land . Owoeni Asade gave birth to four (4) children two male and two female . Namely (1) Arola (2) Iroko (3) Omoseyin (4) Dada Abori.


Arola Asade the eldest child of Owoeni was the first bale of Ogba and its environs in 1880 at the age of 40 years. He died on the 16th day of may 1930 at the age of 90 years.

Egunjobi condoles with Late Ambassador Tunde Alao’s family



Alh. Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi has commiserated with the Alao’s family on the death of ex-Sole Administrator of Apapa Local Government Area of Lagos State, Alh. Babatunde Lukman Alao, aka Ambassador Tunde Alao, who died early hours of Thursday.



Late Alao was a progressive and at one time or another member of SDP, AD, AC, ACN (all defunct), and the All Progressive Congress, APC. He was Personal Assistant to former Lagos Commissioner for Agriculture & Cooperatives, Chief Enoch Ajiboso, while the latter was the Executive Chairman, Agege Local Government.

The deceased, who was once APC’s Legal Officer in Agege, at a period was current Lagos Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Dr. Samuel Adejare’s aide, and until his demise, the Agege Coordinator of Senator Solomon Adeola re-election campaign. 

In a condolence message to the bereaved family, Egunjobi affirmed that Late Alao, who was well respected among the progressives for his forthrightness would long be remembered for his service to Agege in several roles.

“I am sorry to hear of Ambassador Alao’s death and on behalf of the good people of Agege, and management and staff of the Council, I express our most sincere sympathies to you, his family, during this difficult time. He was highly valuable by APC members and served the party in various capacities.

“He will greatly be missed. Please know that our prayers and thoughts are with him and you, his family and friends,” the Council boss wrote.

Late Alao was survived by his widow, four children: three daughters and a son.

Oyo Speaker's Death: Obasa Condoles With Oyo Govt, Assembly, APC, Family

...Says He Was A Peace-loving Man




The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has described the late Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Michael Adeyemo, as a peace-loving man who stood for peace, equity, justice and rule of law.

He also described the deceased as a man who strived for the good of his fellow man as well as the development, progress and growth of his state and the country at large.

The Lagos Assembly Speaker stated this in a condolence message released on his behalf by his Chief Press Secretary, Musbau Rasak, addressed to the Oyo State Government, the state House of Assembly, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the immediate family of the deceased.

"The news came as a shock but it pleases Almighty God to take him away at this particular period. Who are we then to querry His authority? We love Rt. Hon. Adeyemo but God loves him more.

"He was such a peace-loving man. A man of wisdom who strived for the good of his fellow man as well as the progress, growth and development of his state and the country at large.

"We will all miss him, particularly at the Confrence of Speakers. The Oyo State Government will miss him, his colleagues at the state House of Assembly, the entire members and leaders of the APC will miss him as well as members of his immediate family. I pray to Almighty God to give us all the fortitude to bear the huge loss. I also pray to God to grant him eternal rest," the Lagos Assembly Speaker said.

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Dr Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme is dead.


A statement from his family signed by his brother and the traditional ruler of Oko in Anambra State, Igwe Laz Ekwueme said that he died by 10:00 pm in a London clinic, Sunday.
The statement read: “Ekwueme family regrets to announce the peaceful passing away of their patriarch, the former Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr. Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme GCON.


“The sad event occurred at the London Clinic at 10:00 pm on Sunday 19th November 2017.”
Ekwueme had slumped in his Enugu residence, and immediately taken to the Memfys Neurosurgery Hospital Enugu, where he relapsed and went into a coma.

As soon as he was stabilized in the hospital he was flown to London in an air ambulance last week.

Nigerians were thrown into mourning state when the rude news of the demise of first son of All Progressives Congress, APC National Leader, Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu arrested the airwaves on a black Wednesday.



However, barely 24 hours into the death of Jide Tinubu, the circumstance which led to his transition to the underworld has been revealed.

According to a member of the Tinubu family, who spoke on anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the matter, Jide suddenly collapsed and died from what was suspected to be a heart attack around 9pm on Tuesday.

The source said, "however, after the incidence, close family members rushed him down to hospital on Lagos Island where he was confirmed dead on arrival,”


He added that the tragic news was kept secret because the father, Bola Tinubu, was in Abuja for the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of his party, the APC.

Eventually, Chairman of APC in Lagos, Otunba Henry Ajomale confirmed Jide’s death in a short statement he (Ajomale) issued on Wednesday.

“It’s with regrets that I inform you of the demise of Mr. Jide Tinubu, the Son of Our dear and esteemed Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, eminent Nigerians which include President Muhammadu Buhari, Senate President, Bukola Saraki, House of Representatives Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, and the All Progressives Congress, have extended condolence messages to the family of Bola and Senator Oluremi Tinubu urging them to remain strong at this ugly moment in the family's life.
