COUPLE, SON, GIRLFRIEND, ARRESTED FOR STEALING.

When Mrs Folashade Odunuga of No. 8 Ade Onitiri, Harmony Estate, Langbasa, Ajah, embarked on a 3-month vacation which commenced on May 27, 2018, little did she know that her apartment  would be broken  into and her household  property including her car, stolen by eighteen-year-old Tega Teddy aided by his parents, Mr. Uroye Teddy, 45 years old and his mother Mrs. Margaret Teddy.

Also fingered in the offence is Tega's girlfriend, one Karima Edom, a close neighbour of the victim, who allegedly passed information of the victim's absence from home to her boyfriend.

The stealing had been going on for weeks until the victim's househelp, one Eniola Abisola, visited her mistress' house and discovered that a lot of items were missing. She couldn't understand how the thieves entered the apartment as all doors to the house remained locked.

She alerted the police and detectives were sent to check on Tega, they saw the stolen Chevrolette Aveo saloon car with registration number AKD 512 AP,  parked in front of his parents' house at New Osho Layout, Langbasa. He was promptly arrested.

During interrogation, he revealed that he entered the victim's house through the ceiling and gradually, he began to  pack the household items to his father's house. He narrated that his mother helped him to hide the stolen items in an uncompleted building while his girlfriend Karima, hid some in her apartment.

The suspect, Tega, further revealed that his father went with  him to the victim's house to tow the aforementioned car. It was seen that Mrs Margaret Teddy had put the stolen properties for sale.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include: Chevrolette saloon car reg NO. AKD 512 AP, 42 inches flat screen TV, LG Home theatre sound system, electric generator, one standing fan, 5 leather bags, iPad, baby shoes and other personal items.

The Commissioner of Police,  CP Imohimi Edgal, charges Lagosians to take their personal security seriously by ensuring that their houses are entrusted in the hands of trusted relations, friends or aides whenever they travel.

He urged people to go back to our old way of visiting their neighbours to check on them. He added that if that was the case in this instance, Teddy and his girlfriend Karima wouldn't have had the effrontery to cook, eat and wine in Folashade Odunuga's house during her long absence from home.

“They block access road, deface public property and dump waste in carnal and drainages indiscriminately.

“Artisans also use roadsides for workshops. Their activities and that of traders caused road damage. Some trade on the road and sidewalks.

“All these are clear antithesis to urban renewal drive being vigorously pursued by Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode, and we cannot continue to lose taxpayers’ money like this,” the chairman said.

Egunjobi stressed that the bylaw would serves as measure of criminalising abuse of public property in the area.

According to him, the law would not only benefit the council but the general public as well, saying “it touches critical issues that facilitate the improvement of public service delivery.”

Ambode Employment Trust Fund: Prospects for Agege

It is no more news that the Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode recently flagged off the Employment Trust Fund, an initiative designed to empower unemployed youth, business owners and entrepreneurs. Also, the Lagos State Civic Engagement in Collaboration with The Lagos State Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment swung into action to sensitize the public on how unemployed youths could tap into the initiative, what is new is that it is an avenue for the hardworking artisans, and Small and Medium Enterprises that litter Agege LGA and Orile-Agege, LCDA to witness massive turn around if they key into the initiative and consequently, gainfully employ the thousands of unemployed youth in the area. Therefore, it is imperative to breakdown how to access the N25billion Lagos Employment Trust Fund to the people comprehensive.

Below are steps you need:
1. The Lagos State Employment Trust Fund is an Act of the Lagos State House of Assembly

5. LASRRA registration is a requirement.
6. Lagos State Government Tax Card is required.

8. The earliest feasible probable date for disbursement is September.
9. Forming Cooperatives is one of the ways for accessing the Fund
10. N6. 25bn is up for disbursement in the first release.
However, as laudable as the good gesture of Governor Ambode appears, it is important to inform you that there are certain offences and penalties designed for beneficiaries that may default the stated rules and regulations of the Employment Trust Fund. They include:
1.  Any person who without lawful authority levies or accepts any contribution from any person, purporting such contributions to be made for the purpose of this law commits an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (#500,000.00) or two (2) times the value of collections received which is greater, or to Imprisonment for two (2) years or both.
