Agegepulse Magazine

11yr old super talented Hyperrealism artist, Kareem Waris Olamilekan on Thursday paid a courtesy call on the Permanent Secretary and Tutor General of Lagos Education District One, Dr Yinka Ayandele.

AgegePulse learnt that the visit was to acquaint Dr Ayandele with the classroom performance of Kareem in line with his God given creative talent. He is a pupil of Oke-Odo Junior College under EDDI.

She called for support for Kareem to aid an all-round development of his talent and academic prowess.

The visit was revealed by Dr Ayandele in a short post on her social media handle.

The statement reads: "I received talented  hyperrealist artist, Kareem Waris Olamilekan in my office this week. It was a pleasure meeting him in company of his mother and his school principal. Recall Waris drew the portrait of French President, Emmanuel Macron within 2hours recently.

It may interest you to know that as Waris is doing fine with his creative talent, he is also performing creditably well in his academics. The pupil of Oke-Odo Junior College had very encouraging results in the just concluded 3rd term examinations.

We need to support him to ensure an all-round development for him.

It is our resolve to make learning interesting and appealing to every child - Tutor General/Perm.Sec. Education, District 1, Agege - Dr. Yinka Ayandele

Interview with Tutor General/Perm.Sec. Education, Lagos State Education District 1, Mrs. Ayandele A.Olayinka. PhD

" As the first Head Girl of Government College, Agege, I excessively focused and committed to leading by example. I strove hard to ensure my mates understand whatever we were taught. I organised tutorials and my mates benefited from it yet it never crossed my heart to become a teacher.

After graduation, I avoided teaching for over 12 years not knowing teaching was my calling - though, my mother was a retired teacher. My childhood dream was to become a chartered accountant and to work with NNPC.

However, every time I had anything to do with explaining a concept to people, I do it with passion and I get excellent remarks from them. And I've since, developed unflinching passion for teaching. Since I resumed as TUTOR GENERAL, we have designed a functional and result oriented process that have yielded remarkable results both in and outside the classrooms. Education District 1 has moved from 21% in our 2015 performance score card to 71.4% in 2016.

It is our resolve to make learning interesting and appealing to every child under our jurisdiction and my greatest joy has been seeing parents withdrawing their children from private schools and enroll them into public.

With the clear interest of Gov. Ambode in education, the learning outcomes of Lagos State will remain a model for all".

Watch out for the full interview in AgegePulse next edition.

Agege Rally Round MFM for NPFL Survival

The recent unconvincing form of Nigerian professional football league team, MFM FC is a source of concern for lovers of the round leather game in Agege. Since the beginning of the season, Agege football enthusiasts have adopted MFM as their official NPFL team and they never cease to register official presence whenever the team files out for home matches at the prestigious Agege Stadium, thanks to the Six (6) Agege born players in the team (Steven Odey, Abisoye Tunde, Bashiru Monsuru, Sikiru Olatunbosun Fhifhina Monday and Ifeanyin Ifeanyin).
However, despite MFM flying start to the season, the club's recent deep in form that places them lurking around relegation zone in 15th positions with 42 points and a matches to go has been source of worry for the fans yet remain unperturbed.
AgegePulse recently chat with some fans of MFM in Agege. One statement they all echoed is that they will give massive support to the team when they file out for their final match of the season in Agege to ensure the team survive relegation. The fans believe the presence of an NPFL team in Agege week in-week out has brought prominence to Agege Stadium and the Agege community at large, hence promise to rally round the team. MFM is set to take on Ifeanyin Uba on Sunday 2nd, October 2016. A win and favourable results from other relegation rivals would give MFM another top flight stint in the NPFL.
