A look at projects in Lagos State that may suffer after Ambode’s exit

AgegePulse Magazine

It is no longer news that Governor Akinwumi Ambode failed in securing his party’s ticket for the next gubernatorial election and by implication, the current administration in Lagos State comes to an end on May 29 2019 when a new administration will be sworn in.

As party campaigns for the next year’s elections gather momentum, there are growing concerns among the business community over the fate of some current government policies in areas of infrastructural projects, and job creation initiatives.

In this article, Nairametrics takes a look at some ongoing projects vis-a-vis policies under threat with the exit of the present administration in Lagos State next year.

When the Ambode-led government came on board, he stated that the project would be delivered to Lagos residents in 12 months. That deadline fell on July 2016; in fact, five months after he promised to deliver the project, he shifted the goalpost and said it would be completed in December 2016. But by November 2016, the governor made another volte-face, extending the date of completion to sometime before the end of 2019.

Ongoing Road Projects
A visit to some major road project sites such as the Murtala Muhammed Airport road, Pen Cinema Bridge in Agege, and Iyana Ipaja road shows that the pace of work has slowed down significantly.

The Lagos State Government had promised to deliver the Oshodi-Airport Road in 15 months. It was to be expanded from four to 10 lanes and work commenced in September 2017. The Agege Pen Cinema Bridge has a December 2018 completion date.

Sadly, with the current pace of work on these projects, there are doubts over the ability of the present government to deliver before the expiration of this administration, while residents of these areas continue face untold hardships daily.

Light Up Lagos Power Project
The Ambode-led government launched the “Light-Up Lagos Project” which was conceived to light up major highways and streets in the Lagos metropolis with the aim of boosting commercial activities, enhancing security, and improving the aesthetics of the state and living standards for residents.

The project which has three segments (Light up Lagos Advisory Committee, Community Electrification, and the Street Lighting Initiative) was greeted with high hopes among residents, but most highways in Lagos are still in total darkness.

Early this year, the Lagos State government signed a N2.52 billion partnership agreement with a UK firm to construct 10,000 LED street lights covering 300km across the state. Lagosians still await the execution of this project.

The Cleaner Lagos Initiative
Waste management has been a major challenge in the state. The Ambode administration, through the Ministry of Environment, introduced the Cleaner Lagos Initiative and subsequently appointed Visionscape Sanitation Solution Limited, as its strategic partner for the deployment of waste management infrastructure in the state.

Subsequently, the State Executive Council passed a resolution to secure the financing structure adopted by Visionscape and its partners to raise up to N50 billion in bonds for the implementation of the CLI through the issuance of an Irrevocable Standing Payment Order (ISPO) as a charge on the State Internally Generated Revenue Account/ Environmental Trust Fund. The company thereafter raised an initial first tranche of its bond issuance, a N27 billion at 17.5% fixed rate with a five-year maturity due 2022.

Visionscape
Currently, there is an ominous future for Visionscape. Last week, the company vowed to suspend its operation following attacks by residents on its staff and equipment as a result of political outcomes in the state.

Lagos State Employment Trust Fund
One of the high points of the Ambode administration is the establishment of the Code Lagos Initiative and the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund. The fund was established to provide financial support to residents of the state, for job, wealth creation, and to tackle unemployment. The fund is expected to create 300,000 direct and 600,000 indirect jobs within a period of three years by supporting at least 100,000 MSMEs in the state. It is, however, not certain if a new administration will continue with these laudable initiatives.

Way forward
Ideally, Government should be a continuum, where an incoming administration continues with the projects and policies of the preceding administration, but this is not the case in the Nigerian political landscape as several projects are starved of funds immediately a new government comes into power. The Ambode administration also scrapped several policies and projects of the Fashola administration.

Sadly, the list of abandoned projects and policy somersaults in the state are endless, all of which are not good signals to investors. Recall that the Lagos State Government terminated a PPP arrangement it entered with Lekki Concession Company, LCC, which could have seen it fund the construction of the Lekki-Epe Expressway and recoup its investment through tolling on the road over a period of 30 years. The government had to buy back the concession agreement by way of buying back the company.

Whichever way the pendulum swings at the next governorship election in the state, the new administration should act maturely by improving the existing infrastructure in the state. The race of making Lagos a “smart city” can only be achieved if there is consistent improvement of infrastructure in the state.

I Never Said Stealing Is Not Corruption - Goodluck Jonathan

AgegePulse Magazine

“Corruption does not fully capture the act of stealing. A person can indeed be corrupt without stealing a dime. Those who are incapable of comprehending this elevated thought and the mischievous crowd go about claiming till date that I said stealing is not corruption.”

“Let me categorically state that I never said stealing is good and that people should steal, neither did the CJN. Stealing is stealing and instead of calling it corruption, let us call the thief by his proper name and not use a blanket word like corruption. Corruption encompasses many things.

“If a government minister upon a cabinet dissolution takes a vehicle that he is not entitled to and converts it to personal use, then that is stealing. We must not lump everything together to say stealing is corruption"

Ne🔀t Level: We Will Teach Nursery School Pupils Software Development – Osinbajo

AgegePulse Magazine

Osinbajo said, “The focus on primary and secondary education is on employability skills, especially technology. So our focus is on teaching young people from the primary, even pre-primary, school to use all the new techniques, especially code writing skills and software writing skills.

“The new technologies that are developing everything we are seeing today clearly show that anyone in the coming generation will be left behind, if they are not equipped with the knowledge of cutting edge of technology or with a sound knowledge of technology, at least.

We believe that our educational system must incorporate that, which is why, with the new curriculum, a lot of attention is focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics.”

SANWO-OLU ‘LL NOT ABANDON ONGOING PROJECTS IN LAGOS-AMBODE

…Says N15bn Spent On Upgrading Infrastructure In Schools In Three Years

…Inaugurates Ultra-Modern Lecture Theatre Donated To LASU

Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Thursday assured that the Governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State for the 2019 general elections, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu will not abandon ongoing projects but rather complete and build on the enduring legacies already put in place by his administration.

Governor Ambode, who said this while inaugurating an ultra modern lecture theatre donated to the Lagos State University (LASU) by businessman and philanthropist, Mr Remi Makanjuola, said while efforts were on to complete all the major projects initiated by his administration, Sanwo-Olu would nonetheless complete those ones he is unable to deliver before the expiration of his tenure next year.

“I am so excited about the fact that Mr Sanwo-Olu has actually come out here and he has issued a promissory note and what that mean is that we are going to have a government of continuity.

“For whatever structures that we have in LASU right now, and I’m going to also convince our chief negotiator, Dr Wale Babalakin, we are already doing Senate building here, we are doing Students Arcade and we are also doing the Library, I hope I will be able to complete and finish them but if I am unable to complete them, I speak on behalf of Mr Sanwo-Olu that he will finish and also do the Staff School.

“We are not campaigning yet but truly that is the spirit of the kind of governance that we bring to Lagos; that is the spirit that we really want to see and then we should be able to show leadership in all spheres of life that we find ourselves,” Governor Ambode said.

Speaking on his administration’s intervention in the educational sector, he said in the last three and half years, at least N15billion has been invested in revamping infrastructure in schools across the State to ensure students can learn in a conducive environment, while 3,400 primary and secondary teachers were employed to improve the teacher to student ratio as well as quality of learning in schools.

The Governor said beyond the upgrade of infrastructure, the State Government developed innovative solutions to bridge gaps in education system, and to position Lagos State for a technology-driven future including the ReadySetWork and CodeLagos initiatives, noting that while 34,000 students have graduated from the former, the latter is geared towards teaching one million Lagos residents to code.

“At the grassroots level, faced with the realization that about 3 million Lagos residents could not read or write in any language, we commissioned Eko Nke Koo (Lagos Is Learning), an initiative aimed at raising the literacy rate in Lagos State from its current 87% to 95%.

“Through Eko Nke Koo, the Lagos State Agency for Mass Education increased the number of adult literacy centres across the State from 532 centres in 2016, to 782 as at January 2018.

“We have also recorded improvement in enrolment and retention rates of learners in the programme. In 2017, 98% of enrolled learners graduated from the programme,” Governor Ambode said.

He said in LASU, his administration had also carried out notable projects targeted at ensuring the institution remains academically competitive, financially viable, and most importantly, conducive for learning.

The Governor noted that last year, the State carried out major infrastructure development and road works to give the school a facelift befitting of its status as one of the top State Universities in the country, while it had also benefited from a significant increase in subvention to assist in ensuring smooth running of the school.

He disclosed that he had approved for the development of a 6,000 bed hostel which according to him, will increase accessibility and improve security for students in the institution, as the demand for higher education continues to grow.

“Reflecting on these investments, I must acknowledge it has been the privilege of this administration to build on the works of visionaries who came before us; and to be given the opportunity to raise the mark higher as we look ahead to a bright future for our State and Country,” Governor Ambode said.

The Governor also seized the occasion to commend the Makanjuola for donating the ultra-modern lecture hall to the institution, saying that the gesture would forever be remembered by generations.

“It has also been a true privilege and honour to work alongside collaborators - whether large scale organizations or well-meaning individuals in society - who recognize their role in State and Nation building, and have worked tirelessly to support the efforts of government.

“Today’s occasion is symbolic of this citizen-partnership. Indeed, Mr. Makanjuola has sown a seed that would outlive him by bequeathing this Ultra-Modern lecture Theatre to the University. Sir, this is a gesture that will be remembered for generations and for that we are eternally grateful. And in the same vein, on behalf of the Government and people of Lagos State, and the entire Lagos State University community, I say a very happy birthday to you, Sir. In another 48 hours, our philanthropist will be 70 years old. Congratulations, Sir,” he said.

Man Lands In Hot Trouble For Kissing The Daughter Of A Monarch In Lagos

 AgegePulse Magazine

A 28-year old, Fidelis Michael, was said to have committed a sacrilege after he indicated interest to marry the daughter of a top class monarch and kissed her in public to the detest of the royal tradition in Ejigbo area of Lagos.
It was gathered that Michael was caught and charged before a court for assault and remanded in prison custody by pecking the princess in the public.

The alleged assault took place inside Ejigbo Market where the Oba’s daughter, Princess Dolapo, went to buy undisclosed items and met Michael.

P.M Express correspondent was unable to establish if Michael and the princess were love birds but it was certain that they have met probably in the market before the incident happened.

It was gathered that when the Oba heard about what happened, he directed his aides to apprehend the culprit and hand him over to the police at Ejigbo Division for prosecution.
Thus, Michael was arraigned before the Ejigbo Magistrates court for the alleged offence. According to police, the defendant reportedly pecked Princess Dolapo’s mouth without her consent inside Ejigbo Market.

He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector G. Simon, did not oppose his bail but asked the court to give a date for hearing for the police to prove that Michael pecked Princess Dolapo’s mouth without her consent.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J. Layeni, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum. He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect the bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 3rd December, 2018.

It was scooped that it was not that the monarch was against the princess having suitors but engaging the princess and pecking her in the market place was not decent enough as the daughter of the royal majesty.

How a man-from-other world is leading a Lagos Council

Just recently Dennis Hof, Republican flag bearer in election into Nevada’s State Assembly in United States, died three weeks before the election but the deceased went on to contest and emerge winner, polling 68.3% of the vote to defeat his Democrat rival Lesia Romanov, who polled 31.7%.

A strange than fiction incident, Nevada State law encourages electorate to cast votes for any political party candidate who dies in the run up to an election. If the deceased emerged as winner like Hof’s case, the party is bound by law to come up with another person to serve the tenure of the office.

In Yoruba folklore, masqueraders are referred to as ará orún, meaning people from other world. They are called so despite the fact that did not resurrect from the dead.

It is incongruous to have a man from other world presiding over the affairs of the living. Interestingly that is the reality in Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State, where a masquerader going by his alias, a derivative from the first two syllables of his surname, Egunjobi, is at the helm of affairs as the Council chairman.

Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi, true to his alias, has been a spectacle. He was once sighted aboard a Lagos commercial bus as one of the passengers. The moment was captured on camera by an enthusiast.

At another time, Egun was also seen working as a labourer at the site of a mosque he is funding the construction in his area among other caught-in-the-act pictures of him.

The strange spectacles, which were posted online and went viral, have been greeted with mixed reactions with some commentators alleging that he is a demagogue in love with publicity stunts.
However, he has won rapturous praise in several quarters putatively for having his feet on the ground.

‘‘Am not doing it to curry favour with voters. Come to think of it, if I deceived my fellow human being, is it possible for me to deceive God?  I agree that in Nigeria this is not the stuff of high office but I just like being my natural self even if it beneath my office. I think is rewarding to be down to earth,’’ Egun said in response to suggestion that his actions are not genuine but gimmicks and stunts to endear him to the electorate, adding ‘‘I consider the claim, ludicrous and laughable.’’

The Council boss is however, fazed by attention his private life is getting, saying ‘‘I think what should hug the headlines are my programmes and projects in office in the last sixteen months of my administration.

‘‘My government has made giant strides in making Agege a better place, and improved the lot of our people. We made impressive strides in improving our road infrastructure by constructing roads with street lights and reinforced concrete drainage with cover slabs across 30 roads.

‘‘We equally made great strides to empower and build the capacities of our people by training over 2000 members of Agege community on various skill acquisitions, and provision of poverty alleviation /empowerment funds to over 1000 people in the sum of One hundred thousand naira (N100,000) per person.

‘‘No part has been left out, including the custodians of our tradition, and faith based organisations. Recently, my administration donated immensely towards the ‘AJE DAY festival’, an annual programme of Agege market men and women, gave them new bus with Christian Association of Nigeria, League of Imams, and the Baales also getting one each.  We sunk seven boreholes in all the wards and gave them same number of generators to power it.

“Health wise, we have covered lot of grounds. The same thing with education, where we constructed block of six classrooms with modern toilet facilities in Salvation Army Primary School, Dopemu, Agege, renovated block of six classrooms, reconstructed collapsed fence, both at Oduduwa Primary School, distributed School Uniforms, bags and exercise books with other writing materials to all the twenty-six (26) public primary Schools in Agege Local Government.

“We distributed Desks and Benches to primary school pupils of Dopemu Primary School, State Primary School and Oduduwa Primary School.

“And also established additional three units of Vocational Training: Shoe and Bag Making, Graphic Art Design, Furniture and Carpentry.

“Equally, we sponsored farmers in Agege forthe 2017 World Food Day, and supported African Footballer of the year, Azizat Osoala School Soccer Clinic among others.

‘‘In fact, the pages of the local government’s history will be replete with my programmes and projects.”

LAGOS REMAINS GATEWAY TO PROSPERITY FOR NIGERIANS - AMBODE

…Says Govt Committed To Total Welfare Of Residents

…Posterity ’ll Forever Be Kind To You, FGBMF Tells Lagos Gov

 AgegePulse Magazine

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Saturday evening said the State has over the years emerged as a viable gateway for honest and genuine business men and women to invest and make good return on their investments.

Governor Ambode, who spoke at the closing session of the 2018 National Convention of the Full Gospel Business Men Fellowship (FGBMF), Nigeria, held at the Police College, Ikeja, said the State has many opportunities and an enabling environment for visitors to tap from.

"Our State has been a gateway to prosperity for many and many more still come here in pursuit of their dreams.

"We continue to pray that as more people come to our State in search of genuine, honest business, our God will crown their efforts with success and they will reap bountiful harvests from their labour," he said.

The Governor said he was particularly thrilled by the theme of convention; “An Open Door”, saying that it totally conforms with the mantra that Lagos is open for greater business for good, responsible and ethical honest and genuine business people.

"The theme of this convention further strengthens this thinking. It seems to me that we have been building a Lagos which will be an Open Door to success, An Open Door to prosperity and An Open Door for all who believe and fear God to experience His Love, Mercy and Favour.

"Before a door can open, proper foundation must have been laid. Our State remains a good example of where doors can open for members of this great fellowship," Governor Ambode said.

He attributed the successes the State has recorded over the years to fact that the Government recognizes the role of God in its progress and growth.

He said the State has grown in leaps and bounds, just as he expressed confidence that the fortunes of the State would continue to soar with the grace of God.

"The successes recorded in our State are a result of God’s divine mercy and provision for our State.

"As we gather here today, I urge you all to join us in praying for Lagos State and collectively, our Nation and all its citizens; all our business men and professionals, all our youth and women; that we may continue to enjoy the favour and protection of God always," Governor Ambode said.

The Governor also assured that his administration remains committed to furthering an all-inclusive progress and prosperity in the State, adding that "more than ever before, our prime focus and concern has been and shall continue to be to serve diligently, our teeming masses, in every way possible."

Commending the FGBMF for a successful convention, the Governor said it was worthy to note that Lagos State has continued to enjoy religious harmony and peaceful coexistence amongst its people due to the supportive role of religious leaders.

Earlier in his welcome address, National President of the Fellowship, Mr. Ifeanyi Odedo said posterity would forever be kind to Governor Ambode for putting in place numerous projects to empower the people, especially to tackle poverty.

According to Odedo, “The policy thrust of the State Government might not be seen physically, especially the one that has to do with poverty alleviation, such that we have to do with economic growth that has been sustainable through this massive infrastructural development and renewal that is the thrust of Lagos State under this administration.

“Our Governor (Ambode) has left a legacy on the sands of history. As far as this State is concerned, he has lifted the bar of governance. His achievements have brought a lot of excitement in some quarters and provocation in other quarters. I want to believe that posterity will not forget in a hurry the good jobs that our Governor has done,” he said.

Speaking further, Odedo said: “But whether they like it or not, what the Lord has deposited in him (Ambode) has made him a visionary, charismatic and indefatigable leader endeared in the hearts of the people of Lagos and admired by those outside Lagos.

“For the past three and half years, it has been giant strides to move Lagos forward. Three and half years is too short but it's good enough because it took Jesus three and half years to bring about transformation that we are still experiencing today. Because we know that all things work together for good, there is a greater responsibility that God is preparing for our Governor ahead,” Odedo said.

AgegePulse Magazine

The Tutor General/ Permanent Secretary of Lagos Education District One, Dr Mrs Yinka Ayandele yesterday, paid a courtesy call on the Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government Area, Alhaji Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi at his office in Agege.

AgegePulse gathered that yesterday's  meeting was the first time the two Agege role models will be meeting officially.

It was learnt that part of the discussions at the meeting was deliberation on the need to develop more educational programmes that would improve the standard of basic and secondary education in Agege.

It was gathered that Dr Ayandele used the medium to acquaint Egunjobi with the upcoming programmes of EDDI, while inviting him to grace the occasion as a special guest of honour.

She shared some of the district's achievements recently, stating that she plans to partner Agege LGA on educational programs that will have lasting positive impact on Agege scholars.

Responding, Egunjobi appreciated Dr Ayandele's developmental strides since her appointment as the TGPS of EDDI which have given Agege marvelous scorecard in the education sector.

While highlighting some of his achievements in the development of education since he assumed office, Egunjobi said education is one of major focus of his administration, hence the investment in both academic and vocational studies to gainfully engage Agege youths.

Oyo State Government Finally Reconstructing Yinka Ayefele’s Music House

Oyo State Government has fulfilled its promise by reconstructing Yinka Ayefele’s Music House, Fresh FM, which was demolished on August 19, 2018.

On Sunday, August 19 2018, the ancient city of Ibadan woke up to the depressing news that the Music House belonging to tungba musician, Yinka Ayefele was being demolished.
Not only was this a big loss for the entertainment guru but it also meant residents of Ibadan and environs would lose the pleasure of enjoying the services of Fresh FM.

The city was full of emotion; anger, sorrow and pity. Sympathizers thronged the site and tears flowed freely as they wondered what Yinka Ayefele had done to deserve such disaster.

Bounce News rushed to the scene and confirmed a partial demolition of some conspicuous parts of the beautiful building and damages done to several equipment worth millions of naira
The Oyo State Government carried out the demolition claiming infringement of some building laws but after the media outcry and the condemnation of the masses, the story has now changed.

The Governor Ajimobi led APC government has taken up the responsibility to rebuild the same structure it demolished for violating state laws.
Bounce News visited Ibadan again and met construction workers at work even late into Saturday evening.

We gathered they have a deadline to ensure that the building gets its look back by December 2018.

The Head of News at Fresh FM radio in Ibadan, Samson Akindele, confirmed that it will be ready before December to enable them meet up preparation for the Christmas celebration which the radio station organises for children every year.

“A lot has happened since the demolition in August. We’ve had a lull in the activities going on here.

“Just about two weeks ago, after all the meetings and agreements, the ministry of works in Oyo state through the office of the permanent secretary and the commissioner came in to start fulfilling the promise the governor made that indeed the partial demolition was an activity done in error.”

One would expect that there would be corrections done to the building, but the Fresh FM management and owners of the Music House are still waiting to see what would change.

Bounce News sought the opinions of several persons within and outside Oyo state and there are many questions the people are asking.
Would Governor Abiola Ajimobi have swallowed his pride to reverse his earlier decision if this was not an election season?

Would this building ever remain the same again with the pillars now likely weakened by the demolition or the government has just created a disaster waiting to happen?

Why would a government waste tax payers’ money to demolish a building that now has been proven not to have erred, just to persecute a perceived personal enemy?

Minimum Wage: We Can Only Pay N30,000 If We Sack Some Workers — Governors

AgegePulse Magazine

Thirty-six state governors under the aegis of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, met last night in Abuja, saying only Lagos State Government can pay the new minimum wage of N30,000.

The governors also resolved to downsize, if they must pay the new minimum wage.

Members of the committee to see President Buhari are governors of Lagos, Akinwumi Ambode; Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, Simon Lalong of Plateau State; Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi State; Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State; Dave Umahi of Benue State; Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State; and Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State.

The governors insisted that though they were willing to pay any amount, asking all states to pay N30,000 demanded by organized labour would render many states bankrupt, saying the only way states could pay was to either downsize their workforce or the Federal Government agrees to a new revenue allocation formula.

ONLY LEADERS WITH INTEGRITY CAN DRIVE NIGERIA’S ECONOMIC GROWTH – AMBODE

…Lagos Gov’s Passion, Doggedness
Commendable, Says Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship

Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday said if Nigeria must develop and have sizable improvement in the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), people of good conscience and high integrity must be at the drivers’ seat in all spheres of the economy.

Speaking at Lagos House in Alausa, Ikeja when he received national leadership of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International (Nigeria) on a courtesy visit, Governor Ambode said the country stands to benefit a lot when good business practice is combined with excellent religious conscience, saying such would obviously result in growth and development.

According to him, “The economy of Lagos cannot be that productive to improve the GDP if there are no people with good conscience and this is what this fellowship stands for. It is not enough for you to have resources, it is not enough for you to have people that can improve productivity but again there are people who have to be drivers to arrive at the GDP or the kind of nation that we want.”

The Governor said since his assumption of office in the last three and half years, concerted efforts had been made to ensure religious harmony and also create greater enabling environment for businesses to thrive, saying it was gratifying that the State had experienced peaceful co-existence among religious groups.

“One thing that I can assure of is our continuous support. Like you must have noticed in the last three years, we have ensured that there is proper religious harmony in this State and there has never been any single incident of religious crisis.

“Obviously, we recognize the fact that Lagos is a cosmopolitan State but irrespective of that, we have allowed a whole lot of freedom of space because that is the thing that actually drives productivity.

“All we do as a government is just to ensure that we create an enabling environment for people to practice religion without interference and at the same time greater enabling environment for them to do their businesses. So, when we combine good businesses and good religious conscience, obviously the nation will grow and then the nation will develop,” Governor Ambode said.

While describing members of the fellowship as distinguished personalities in various fields, the Governor equally commended them for holding their annual convention in Lagos, saying it was instructive that such was taking place at a time that the nation needs a lot of prayers.

Earlier, National President of the fellowship, Mr. Ifeanyi Odedo, who led the delegation, said the team was at Lagos House to officially inform the Governor of the ongoing 87th National Convention of the Fellowship, and also to explore partnership in key areas to grow the country’s GDP such as housing, agro industry, and information communication technology, among others.

Odedo also commended the Governor for his giant strides in the last three and half years, saying it was commendable that he had given priority to people-oriented policies and programs.

“We appreciate the kind of grace that God has bestowed upon you. In the past number of years that you have served this State as Executive Governor, we have seen your doggedness, we have seen your passion, we have seen your integrity, we have seen the spirit of professionalism and excellence with people-oriented programs that are very impactful.

“Suffice it to say that you have left a great legacy in the sand of history. I want to put on record that what God has deposited in you with which you have served this State in the past three and half years or thereabout, that thing will still find expression in no distant time. All things work together for good and because you are carrying the spirit of the Lord, the Lord is setting before you an open door and no man can shut it,” Odedo said.

Anguish In Igbogbo Community Of Ikorodu In Lagos After Discovering 2 Children, 1 Dog Dead Inside Freezer

AgegePulse Magazine

Residents of Ikorodu in Lagos were on Sunday thrown into mourning when the corpse of two children and a dog were found in a freezer.

According to NAN, the incident was said to have occurred at 2, Christian Onoja Street, Igbogbo in Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Government Development Area at 4.30pm.

A neighbour who preferred anonymity told NAN that the children, Emmanuel Edeh, seven years and Darasimi Edeh, female, four years and their father, Mr Michael Edeh, were at home on the day of the incident.

“On Sunday afternoon, we were alerted by their father who emerged from within the house asking about the whereabouts of his children.

“We were surprised because their father is always at home with the kids when their mother goes about her trading.

“So, when their father came asking us (neighbours) about where his children were, we all began to search the neighbourhood for them, but could not find them,’’ the source, said.

The source added that when initial efforts to locate the children proved abortive, a call was put through to the mother of the kids, who came running down to their residence.

“Their mother was visibly disturbed upon arrival and immediately began to search for them, this time, in the house.

“After a while, she came wailing that she discovered the lifeless body of children and their dog inside the freezer,’’ the source added.

NAN gathered that the children were taken to a hospital within the community, but were told that the children had died which prompted the incident to be reported at the Igbogbo Police Division on Sunday evening.

When NAN visited the Briggston Hospital in Selewu, Igbogbo, where the children were taken he was told that the children were dead on arrival.

“It is true that I received a case involving two children, but upon assessment, I discovered that they had passed on and there was no resuscitation effort that could be performed on them.

“So, I advised the parents to go and conduct an autopsy to ascertain the real cause of death,’’ Dr. Briggs Umezurike, told NAN.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti, told NAN that the Commissioner of Police had been informed about the incident.

“I have confirmed the matter and the CP directed that the father of the children be brought to notice to know his ulterior motive or whether it is an act of negligence,” he said.

El-rufai Issues Demolition Notices To 40 Churches, 16 Schools

A large crowd of residents of Gbagyi Villa – a suburb of Kaduna metropolis trooped out, carrying placards in protest against demolition notices issued to them by Kaduna State Urban Planning Development Authority, KASUPDA.
