LAWMA Launches “Know Your PSP” Campaign for Effective Service Delivery

 AgegePulse Magazine

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), has launched "Know Your PSP" campaign, an initiative aimed at improving communication and cooperation between residents and Private Sector Participation (PSP) operators, responsible for waste collection.

Commenting on the initiative, managing director/CEO of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said the campaign was aimed at improving waste management practices throughout the state, adding that the initiative would provide residents with detailed information about the specific PSP operators assigned to their areas, for contact and for reporting issues or requesting additional services.

He said, "The 'Know Your PSP' campaign is a crucial step in our on-going effort at improving waste management in Lagos State. By equipping residents with the knowledge of who their PSP operators are and how to reach them, we are fostering a collaborative effort for a cleaner city. This initiative will not only enhance service delivery but also promote accountability and responsiveness among PSP operators."

Gbadegesin said LAWMA had established dedicated helplines and online platforms, where residents could easily access information about their designated PSP operators, report issues, and provide feedbacks, adding that this would make it easier for residents to communicate with their waste services providers, so that challenges were promptly addressed and services consistently delivered.

He noted further, that investigation showed that some residents did not even know their PSP operators nor their contacts, making it impossible to interface with them, on any area of service provision.

"By providing residents with easy access to information and a direct line of communication with their PSP operators, we are making it easier for them to report issues and request services. This streamlined approach will help us address concerns more efficiently and ensure that waste collection services meet the needs of all residents", he said.

The LAWMA boss appealed to the populace to desist from acts of indiscriminate waste dumping and patronage of the outlawed cart pushers, capable of worsening environmental challenges in the metropolis, especially flooding, as the rains set in.

Why I donated First Aid boxes to Public Primary schools in Agege - Hon. JS Babatunde's SA, Adewunmi Feyisara Reveals

 By Habeeb Durojaye

Why I donated First Aid boxes to Public Primary schools in Agege - Hon. JS Babatunde's SA, Adewunmi Feyisara Reveals

Research make us to understand that, Schools are where children spend most of their time learning, playing, and making friends. Hence, schools are also a place where children, especially the younger ones, are vulnerable to injuries and illness.

This makes first aid care a requirement for teachers and school staff. Teachers and other school personnel can provide prompt first aid care in the absence of health professionals while in school.

This ideology makes it pertinent for the SA to the Executive Chairman of Orile Agege LCDA  on Legislative Matters, Information and Communication Technology, Hon. Prince Adewunmi Feyisara to look into the welfare of the pupils of primary schools in  Ward F area of Agege  through the donations of First Aid boxes to 8 (Eight) Public Primary  schools in Agege today with the flag off at Akilo Primary School.

In a brief interview, Prince Adewunmi said he was motivated to give the first aid boxes after seeing a child after closing hour injured from school and was not given a first Aid treatment. It baffles me and I vowed to create a solution in this regard.

He promised to donate to more schools in the ward with a periodic maintenance of the boxes with drugs.

Earlier, The LGEA Health Officer, Mr. Bayo Bakare highlighted the significance of first aid box in school, " the time they spend in school is a critical part of a children’s life, and it can have a direct impact on their physical and mental health. Health and safety are one the most neglected part of both school policy and practice.

"Schools play a significant role in health and safety for two major reasons. First, the schools offer learning opportunities, and second, pupils spends a significant amount of their growing years in schools. During their stay, they will become involved in various activities, including sports and outdoor exercises. Not prioritising health and safety directly affects the management of common illnesses.

"As we all know, children are vulnerable to many types of injuries and accidents. It may vary from minor injuries to major accidents, resulting in bleeding and broken bones, the first aid in no doubt is a significant one for us in our schools.

The Special Adviser's delegate was led by the APC chairman in the ward, Hon Segun Balogun, the Special Adviser to the Executive Chairman, Orile Agege LCDA on Agriculture,Hon Adedayo Turton,Hon Jimoh Owolabi Dada, Mr Olalekan Akinbo (Ward F secretary), Mr Tokunbo Omilana (Youth leader Ward F Agege) Chief Gbenga Alemo (Majeobaje of keke land), Mr Taiwo Moronfolu, Mr Sherif Sulaimon Agility, Mr Aina Adegboyega Isiba, Mrs Dupe Timothy and Mr Azeez a.k.a Water Agege.

AgegePulse Magazine

This was contained in a statement NARTO’s National President, Alhaji Yusuf Lawal Othman released in Abuja on Thursday.

Othman said in consequence of the ugly situation, the association intimated the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Minister of Petroleum Resources; Director General, Department of State Services (DSS); Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) Chief Executive Officer; Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Group Chief Executive Officer; and the Marketers about their plight through letters but the correspondence brought no impact.

He added that the lingering condition has made them to resort to park their trucks saying, “We will have to suspend operations from Monday. We cannot continue to operate at a loss. Most people have parked. A lot more are going to park.”

Othman wrote further:“Everybody is aware that all our consumables in terms of operation are not produced in the country.

“So, by virtue of the rate of dollars, every consumable has increased. But the freight they are paying us has been the same even during Buhari’s time.

“So how is that feasible? During Buhari’s time, the dollar was N650. Today, the dollar is now N1,615. The average freight from Lagos to Abuja is N32.

“What I mean by local, you load Lagos, you discharge in Lagos. And bridging, you load from Lagos, you come to Abuja. Lagos to Lagos, we are paid N120,000.

“AGO alone to distribute fuel within Lagos is N140,000 because it is N1,400 per litre. So, they give you N120,000 and you spend N140,000. So, how do you want to operate?

“Talk less about the cost of vehicles, cost of loading, driver’s allowance. That is for local. For bridging, Lagos to Abuja, they gave us N32.

“If you have a truck of 40,000 litres, you are talking of N1,280,000-N1,216,000. Less 5% of the amount of N1,280,000 Withholding Tax N64,000. Less 55,000 loading expenses and 15,000 driver allowance. Total expenses N134,000 while balance is N1,146,000. AGO is N1400 for 900 litres, totalling N1, 260,000. There is a total loss of N114,000.
