ABULE-EGBA PIPELINE FIRE REGRETFUL – Agbaje
AgegePulse Magazine
The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, Mr Jimi Agbaje, has expressed sadness over Wednesday’s early morning pipeline explosion in Abule-Egba area of the state.
The ensuing inferno gutted numerous houses and vehicles in the area.
Agbaje, in a statement by the Media Director of his campaign oganisation, Mr Felix Oboagwina, on Wednesday in Lagos said it was regretful that the area had become prone to fire disasters resulting from the activities of pipeline vandals.
He said the vandals had over the years turned stealing of petroleum products into a thriving business.
The PDP candidate described the loss of properties to the inferno as unfortunate, but expressed gratitude to God that “fortunately no life was lost in this heartbreaking fire incident.”
He urged Lagos State to make emergency plans to ensure accommodation and rehabilitation for those who lost personal property and dwellings to the fire incident.
The candidate urged security agents to be on top of their game to apprehend pipeline vandals and curb the activities of petroleum thieves in the area.
He advised the people to be their own first line of security by promptly reporting any sighting of illegal activities along the pipeline.
Agbaje, who recalled that a similar incident occurred in the area in 2006, called for a permanent solution to the incidence of pipeline vandalism and explosion.

Abule Egba pipeline explosion: LASG Sets to Destroy Shanties in Abule Egba
AgegePulse Magazine
Lagos State Government says it's set to destroy shanties in and around Pipelines in Abule Egba area following an early morning fire outbreak in that axis.
The fire was caused by pipeline vandals who came to the area to scoop PMS.
December twenty-six 2018 will be exactly twelve years when the last fire outbreak that claimed many lives in Abule Egba Area happened.
Many residents scout for safety as some sustained some degree of injury.
The perpetrators of this act use containers to cover pipelines they use in scooping PMS to distract the attention of residents who only carry out their activities in the day time.
Inside each container is a six feet hole dung to drain PMS illegally into their trucks at night.
Some residents are now clamouring for the removal of all shanties, sand sellers and containers placed on pipeline along that route, alleging that community leaders are also involved.
The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Government on Civic Engagement, Mr. Benjamin Olabinjo stated that the government will remove all shanties from that area to stop illegal activities of pipeline vandals.
Speaking on the development, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu has called for calm among residents, he explained that the team came in early with the help of the fire service who has done a good job.
The council Chairman Ojokoro Lcda, Hon Hammed Idowu D Tijani noted that the council will take appropriate action and send its report to the state government for prompt execution.
On security, the RRS Commander for Lagos State, Mr. Tunji Disu said all security agencies are on ground to secure lives and property and to carry out thorough investigation
Many vehicles at car lots and buildings were razed down during the inferno, many residents were seen wailing as some slept outside on mattresses.

BREAKING: Manchester United Sack Jose Mourinho
AgegePulse Magazine
Manchester United have sacked manager Jose Mourinho after the club made their worst start to a season in almost 30 years, the Premier League club announced on Tuesday.
The 55-year-old Portuguese’s last match in charge was the 3-1 defeat by Liverpool on Sunday which left them 19 points behind their opponents.
It is United’s worst start in the league since 1990 and even his ambition of reaching the top four and a Champions League qualification spot is in danger with the club 11 points adrift of those places.
Despite the club having reached the Champions League knockout stages — they face an intimidating last-16 tie with Paris Saint-Germain — a mix of the results, dressing-room discord and criticism of the board’s transfer policy proved potent factors in the decision to dismiss him.
“Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect,” a club statement said.
“The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future.
“A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager.”

2019: Ambode Officially Endorses Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat Ticket
…Urges Aggrieved Aspirants To Unite For APC’s Victory In 2019
…As Tinubu Thanks Lagos Gov, Others For Respecting Party’s Decision
AgegePulse Magazine
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Monday officially endorsed the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, saying that the duo were prepared for the campaign and ready to take on the task of moving the State to greater heights.
The Governor, who spoke at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the State secretariat of the party on Acme Road in Ogba, raised the hands of Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat before scores of party leaders and faithful and wished them well in the March 2, 2019 election.
“As we are looking forward to February 16, 2019, we know it is the Buhari/Osinbajo ticket that the whole of Lagos will vote for. As we proceed two weeks after on March 2, we also declare that it is the Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat ticket that will come to take over from me by the special grace of God.
“I pray for them and bless them that they will take over from me successfully in good health and in good spirit,” he said.
He urged those still aggrieved with the fallout of the primaries of the party to follow his example, and accept the party’s supremacy.
“The first thing I want to say is to appeal to all our party members who, in one way or the other, have been wronged or aggrieved that they should find a place in their hearts to let it just be the same way that I have accepted the greatness of the party.
“I want us to know that the party is supreme to all our individual interests because it has the common good for all of us and we must find a place in our hearts to let the party reign supreme,” he said.
The Governor also appealed to the leadership of the party to go a step further by looking for avenues to compensate aggrieved aspirants, saying such was necessary to spur them to work for the party and also move the party forward.
According to him, “I want to further appeal to all our leaders and our party leaders also that when there is a platform for reconciliation, we should proceed also to continue to reconcile and when there is a platform for compensation, we should also make those promissory notes so that all our aspirants who are not candidates must be ready to sacrifice for the overall collective of our party.
“This is very important so that we can move this campaign forward because it is only when we win that we can compensate, it is only when we win that we can reconcile and so let us have that collective decision to move APC forward.
“We are one party and we are one family and if we are one family and one party, then we should proceed and make APC the reigning party at the centre and the reigning party in Lagos. So, all our stakeholders, all our elders I seek for your cooperation, your solidarity and your support for our candidate at the gubernatorial level, senatorial level, House of Representatives and Assembly and also Presidency,” Governor Ambode said.
The Governor, also urged Lagosians to vote massively for the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo come February 16, 2019 for continuation of the good works in the country.
National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on his part, commended the courage of Governor Ambode and others for accepting the outcome of the primaries of the party, saying their act of sportsmanship deserved to be appreciated.
Tinubu said Ambode, his deputy, Dr. Idiat Adebule, and all the leaders and members of the party had done commendably well in respecting the supremacy of the party.
Addressing the gathering which was attended by key leaders of the party in the State, Tinubu said: “I want to say thank you to all of you and God bless you. I thank all of you for respecting the party, particularly the present Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode and his deputy, Idiat Adebule. May God continue to bless you and guide you and you will live long with everlasting progress.
“Thank you to all our leaders, the Government Advisory Council (GAC) of Lagos State and the membership of the party who had embarked on reconciliation efforts to appeal to all our members who are initially aggrieved. The party supremacy has been demonstrated; the party discipline has been demonstrated. You are our leaders and we respect all of you,” he said.
While recalling that the direct primary option adopted for the shadow election of the party was taken after a GAC meeting, Tinubu said it was gratifying that all members of the party accepted and endorsed the decision, adding: “I want to thank you for maintaining peace, harmony, unity and love.”
He said having crossed the hurdle of the primaries, it was now time for all members of the party to unite and maintain a strong outing for APC during the 2019 general elections, saying APC remains committed to Nigeria’s progress, development and economic transformation.
Other leaders at the meeting are the State’s Deputy Governor, Idiat Adebule; Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa; State APC Chairman, Alhaji Tunde Balogun; GAC members led by Prince Tajudeen Olusi; Chief Lanre Razak, Senator Ganiyu Solomon, Chief Kemi Nelson, Cardinal James Odumbaku, former Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Jokotola Pelumi, among others.

Through his classroom practices and the introduction of curriculum-based learning aids, he has recorded and maintained a 20% improvement in academic performance in the past two years. Over 50 students from other schools who have attended his organised student leadership programme are now leaders in their respective institutions.
In 2017, Megbowon was one of the local trainers selected for AFRICA CODE week to train over 500 teachers in Ondo State. He has also received the Lagos State Education District commendation, the Creative and Innovative Teacher award, and a commendation from the Vice-President of Nigeria.
If awarded the Global Teacher Prize, Megbowon said he would use 30% of the funds to acquire equipment to distribute 30,000 free copies of his curriculum-based learning aids; 40% would be used to distribute 15,000 free copies of his newly invented “letters and digits” board games that teach literacy and numeracy; and 30% would be used to start a mobile technology hub to bridge technology gaps affecting people in rural and underserved communities.

Have Sex In The Car Get 2-Years Imprisonment -Police
The Lagos State Police Command has warned Lagosians that having sex in the car is a crime that’s punishable with a 2-year stay in prison.
A couple having sex in a car parked in an isolated part of a neighborhood in Lagos State were recently harassed by a mob who posted their pictures on social media.
The incident sparked debates over the legality of car sex in the country, leading a Twitter user to ask the Head of the Nigeria Police Force’s Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit, ACP Yomi Shogunle, for clarification.
In response, ACP Shogunle said having sex in the car is not a crime unless the car is parked on the premises of a place of worship, or the sex is not between consenting adults or between people of the same sex.
However, according to the spokesperson of the Lagos Command, Shogunle’s statement was misplaced as he noted that the state has laws criminalising sex of any kind in public places.
While disclosing that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, has received legal advice on the subject, Oti said indecent act in a public place makes both parties engaging in the act liable to imprisonment for two years.
He further noted that there’s a federal law applicable in every Nigerian state that criminalises indecent acts.
He said, “The CP Lagos has been advised by the Director of Public Prosecution of the state Ministry of Justice and the Legal Department of the State Police Command, Panti, Yaba, with relevant sections of the law as follows: Section 134 (a) Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 prohibits any indecent act in any public place without lawful excuse.
“The law holds that such person is liable on conviction to two years’ imprisonment. Section 136 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 provides that any person who commits any act of gross indecency with another person in public commits an offence and liable on conviction to three years’ imprisonment.
“It must be noted that Section 134 which deals with offences against morality, particularly section 134 (a), has it that indecent act in a public place makes both parties engaging in the act liable to imprisonment for two years.
“In the same vein, Section 231 of the Criminal Code Act, which is a Federal law and applicable in states other than the northern states where Penal Code is applicable, also make Indecent Acts punishable.”
Imohimi dismissed Shogunle’s assertion and warned that Lagosians should be guided by relevant sections of the law against such acts

I’ve only visited Gbagada Hospital to help the needy –Sanwo-Olu
AgegePulse Magazine
The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has affirmed his physical fitness to contest in the 2019 elections.
Sanwo-Olu, who spoke on Sunrise Daily, a live programme of Channels Television, on Wednesday morning, was responding to claims by incumbent Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and former aspirant for the governorship ticket that the APC candidate had undergone rehabilitation at Gbagada General Hospital.
Akinbode had addressed a public gathering on September 30, making the claim. He has since campaigned for Sanwo-Olu's election come 2019.
The ex-commissioner, however, stated that in politics, people are bound to make unfounded allegations in a bid to gain the upper hand.
He said, "This is me. I'm 53 years old. I'm sure I'm older than all of you (programme anchors).
"I missed my exercise this morning just because I needed to come here. But you know, in all of the things you've talked about, people get overly excited. For whatever it is, emotions will rise.
Sanwo-Olu added that his emergence as APC candidate was as a result of the party's desire to avert the likelihood of vote-buying among delegates.
He said, "APC took a decision way before the primary started and said it was going to use what they call direct primary.
"Direct primary means that every card carrying member of the APC is going to have a say in who emerges at all of the spheres of positions, be it presidential, governorship, House of Representatives or House of Assembly.

Vienna, Austria is rated as the most liveable city in the world in 2018.
For the second year running, Lagos made the cut as one of the world’s most liveable cities. Though still languishing close to the bottom of the pyramid of ranked cities at 138, the rating of the megacity, the only one ranked in Nigeria, improved from 36% in 2017 to 38.5% in 2018. Crime rate and seamless transportation system are some of the important factors used for the Economist Intelligence Unit’s 2018 ranking of the world’s most liveable cities.
Melbourne finally lost the title of world’s most liveable city after a seven-year reign. The Australian city came in second place on the list, missing out on the top spot by just 0.7%.
Japan‘s Osaka and Tokyo have now moved up into the top ten, coming in third and seventh place respectively.
Both cities achieved their highest ranking on the survey this year thanks to a decline in crime rates as well as improvements in public transportation.
“Osaka stands out especially, having climbed six positions, to third place, over the past six months, closing the gap with Melbourne,” the EIU’s annual ranking report summary says.
“It is now separated from the former top-ranked city by a mere 0.7 of a percentage point. Osaka’s improvements in scores for quality and availability of public transportation, as well as a consistent decline in crime rates, have contributed to higher ratings in the infrastructure and stability categories respectively.”
Hamburg and Helsinki, who held tenth and ninth place last year, have dropped out of the top ten.
This year’s ninth place spot went to Copenhagen, who achieved a score of 96.8%, making it the only other European city in the top rankings. And while Australia may have missed out on first place this time, three of its cities were among the best scoring, with Adelaide (96.6%) and Sydney (97.4%) coming behind Melbourne in 10th and fifth place.
Canada performed well as well, with Toronto tying with Tokyo for seventh position on a score of 97.2% and Calgary (97.5%) and Vancouver (97.3%) taking fourth and sixth place respectively.
Biggest improvements, falls
According to the report, global business centres tend to be victims of their own success. “The ‘big city buzz’ that they enjoy can overstretch infrastructure and cause higher crime rates,” it says.
For instance, New York (57th), London (48th) and Paris (19th) are all prestigious hubs with plenty of great recreational activities, but all suffer from higher levels of crime, congestion and public transport problems than are deemed comfortable.
That said, “they still sit within the highest tier of liveability, especially when contrasted with the worst-scoring locations.”
Meanwhile the French capital and the UK’s Manchester, whose rankings have fallen in previous years due to terrorist attacks, recorded the biggest improvements of the past 12 months in overall scores and stability ratings.
“Although they have been subject to high-profile terrorist attacks in recent years, which have shaken stability and led to cumbersome security measures, both cities have shown resilience in the face of adversity,” the report adds.
“Nevertheless, with such high scores already in place, the impact of these improvements has not been enough to significantly affect liveability in any of the top-tier cities.”
It was also good news for Hong Kong, which saw a dramatic fall in its ranking back in 2015. The Asian city achieved a score of 91.3% this time round, moving up to 35th place.
However, fellow Asian cities Kuala Lumpur, Kathmandu, Colombo and Dhaka didn’t fare as well, with all four listed among the nine cities whose liveability ranking has declined in the past year.
Puerto Rico’s San Juan, which was hit by two hurricanes in 2017, experienced the sharpest fall, dropping 21 places down the list to 89th place, with a score of 69.8%.
Unsurprisingly Syria’s war-torn capital Damascus continues to languish at the bottom of the list, with an overall score of 30.7%.
Bangladesh’s Dhaka and Nigeria’s Lagos were just above at 139th and 138th place, scoring 38.0% and 38.5% respectively.
On a larger scale, global liveability has improved for the second year in a row, increasing from 74.8% last year to 75.7% in 2018.
In 2017, Syria’s capital, Damascus, was also at the very bottom of the ranking, with an overall liveability rating of just 30.2, while Nigeria’s Lagos and Libya’s Tripoli were just slightly ahead, with scores of 36 and 36.6 respectively.
Top 10 Most liveable cities 2018:
1. Vienna, Austria
2. Melbourne, Australia
3. Osaka, Japan
4. Calgary, Canada
5. Sydney, Australia
6. Vancouver, Canada
7. (tie) Toronto, Canada
7. (tie) Tokyo, Japan
9. Copenhagen, Denmark
10. Adelaide, Australia

Pastor Mike Oliseh Rapes Church Member’s Twin Daughters In Lagos
AgegePulse Magazine
The Assistant Pastor of the Anointed Chosen Vessel Ministry, Okota, Lagos, Mike Oliseh, has been detained at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, for allegedly defiling the 12-year-old twin daughters of a church member and close friend.
PUNCH Metro gathered that while 54-year-old Oliseh allegedly penetrated the private parts of the first victim, he allegedly inserted his fingers in the private parts of the twin sister.
Our correspondent learnt that Oliseh, an indigene of Delta State, and the girls’ father, Okoro (not real name), lived on Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos State.
Oliseh, who lived opposite Okoro’s house, was said to have relocated his wife and four children (a girl and three boys) to the Ikotun area of Lagos.
He, however, retained his apartment at Okota, where he reportedly stay during the week before returning to his family in Ikotun by weekends.
Oliseh, who is also into borehole drilling, was said to have employed the services of Okoro, whose bus was used to convey equipment to sites.
The two then became close friends, as Oliseh also used the opportunity to win over Okoro’s family to his church.
However, Okoro’s wife, Chidera (not real name),travelled on a business trip in 2017, during which time Oliseh started sleeping in their home.
The first victim, Chioma (not real name), told our correspondent that while her father was fast asleep, the suspect defiled her.
Chioma narrated, “He started it (rape) last year. He used to come to sleep in our house. He said there was heat in his apartment. So, while my twin sister and I would sleep on the floor, he used to sleep on the bed with my father. While my dad slept, he would come to the floor and sleep with me. He has done it many times.
“He put his male reproductive organ in my private parts. He threatened that if I told my father, he would not take him to work again. He and my father eat and work together, and they both sleep on the same bed.”
PUNCH Metro learnt that the crime had gone undetected until recently when the suspect attempted to sleep with the second victim, Nnena (not real name).
The victims’ mother, Chidera, said Oliseh was pulling off her daughter’s pants when an elderly woman saw him.
She said, “On that Thursday, my daughter did not go to school; she was alone in the compound. Mike (Oliseh) came and chased her. The girl ran into the backyard to hide. He went there and started pulling her pants; the girl shouted.
“An elderly woman, who came for omugo (the Igbo practice of female parents tendering their daughters’ newborn babies) in our compound and was in the room, saw him. When she opened the door, Mike quickly brought out a phone and pretended to be speaking to my husband on the telephone. He said he wanted to give my daughter something, but she was not ready to collect it. He then put his phone in his pocket and left.
“The woman, who observed that he did not dial any number on the phone before putting it to his ear, called my husband to ask the children what his friend had been doing to them. That was how the secret was blown open. He slept with my first daughter regularly, but had only succeeded in inserting his fingers into the private parts of my second daughter.”
Chidera said she was disappointed because Oliseh was a trusted pastor and family friend.
The victims’ father, Okoro, told PUNCH Metro that he did not believe the allegations until the suspect confessed to them.
He stated, “I trusted him because I thought that he was a man of God. I have a bus and whenever he had a borehole drilling job, I used the vehicle to take the equipment to site. He would pay me for the service. He also took my family to his church.
“Also, whenever my wife travelled, I would take my children to his wife’s place in Ikotun. Whenever I cooked, we would eat together from the same plate. I never suspecteed anything. Even when it was noticed the first time, I doubted it. However, when he agreed to it and said what he did was little, I became weak.”
PUNCH Metro learnt that the case was reported at the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender and the victims were referred to the Mirabel Centre, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.
A social worker at the OPD said the results of the tests carried out on the victims confirmed that the girls had been defiled.
The social worker stated, “In fact, it was when the results came out that we reported at the Ago Police Station.
“When we got to his house, he was not around. The general overseer of the church had called the victims’ parents and was reprimanding them for involving the police. The man said since he had already agreed to settle it for them, they should not have involved the police.
“We just told the family to play along. So, they agreed with the general overseer and that gave the suspect a false sense of security. He returned to his house and that was how he was arrested. He was transferred to the Gender Unit on Tuesday.”
The Director, OPD, Mrs Olayinka Adeyemi, said justice would be done.
“The innocent girls were defiled by a so-called pastor under the guise of helping their father. It is very sad. While we will ensure that the girls get justice and the perpetrator is punished, it is important that parents should be watchful and careful,” she stated.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect would be arraigned at the end of investigation.

Nigeria was more prosperous under PDP, says Atiku
AgegePulse Magazine
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday compared the PDP governments with the present All Progressives Congress administration, saying Nigerians had the longest and consistent record of prosperity and peace under the PDP administration.
Atiku, who made the assertion at the Mapo hall, Ibadan at the South-West presidential rally of the PDP, also promised to begin the restructuring of the country within six months of assumption of office.
He also berated the APC government for allegedly plunging the country into huge debts, saying Nigerians must vote President Muhammadu Buhari out of office in 2019.
Atiku, who was accompanied to the rally by his running mate, Peter Obi; the party’s National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus; the Director-General of his campaign, Otunba Gbenga Daniel; former governors of Ekiti and Osun, Ayo Fayose and Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola respectively, lamented the widespread hunger, poverty and insecurity in the land.
He assured Nigerians that he would assemble the best economic team to return prosperity to Nigeria.
The presidential candidate urged Nigerians not to believe the alleged lies of the APC and to use their permanent voter cards to send the ruling party away.
According to him, Nigerians must refrain from selling their votes to the APC for them to witness a rebirth of new Nigeria with food in abundance, quality life, security of lives and property and economic well-being for all.

NYSC Cancels Davido's One-Year Service Program
It appears that the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) has cancelled the compulsory one-year orientation exercise embarked on by David ‘Davido’ Adeleke.
The ‘Fall’ singer said the scheme cancelled his service in a comment on Instagram.
Reacting to a post made by Adesegun Adeosun, Nigerian music promoter better known as Smade who just finished his three-week NYSC orientation program, and got a letter of recommendation Davido wrote “Naso dem cancel my own”.
The 26-year-old singer, who graduated from Babcock University in 2015 after studying music, had registered for NYSC in 2018 Batch ‘B’ stream II corp members who were sworn in on August 30.
The NYSC programme is mandatory for all graduates to qualify for gainful employment in Nigeria.
Speaking on why he registered for the scheme, Davido said he was tying all loose ends.
“I am a youth and I am delighted to serve my fatherland,” he said at his swearing-in ceremony.
“NYSC is also a leadership development programme and since I will not remain a youth forever, I have to start preparing myself for the future.”
After promising to take part in all camp activities, the ‘FIA’ singer cancelled his US tour that was scheduled to hold in September for NYSC commitments.
“Due to scheduling conflicts and NYSC commitments in Nigeria, the remaining dates for the Davido Locked Up Tour has been cancelled. Refunds will be made available at point of purchase.”
There had been questions if the singer broke NYSC bye-laws by campaigning for his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, during the Osun governorship elections.
There has been no official statement from the scheme disputing or confirming the action.
